The Laurels is a very welcoming environment and feels just like I expect it would to visit my nephew in his own home. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable and know my nephew extremely well.

I visited my friend, in the home. I found all the staff to be polite friendly warm and welcoming, each staff member knew my friend. They showed kindness and compassion. The home has a complete personal-centred approach. I would highly recommend.

They have a very friendly staff who looked after our family friend. Nothing was too much trouble. The room is always kept nice, clean and homely. The meals are varied and superb. Lots of activities to take part in. No one needs to feel lonely. We were able to visit at any time.

After six years in the Laurels, we are very happy with all aspects of our daughter's care. The Laurels has always been home from home for us and even through the lockdown, the staff worked hard to keep our family safe and in contact with us via facetime etc. Good to be back with the family.

When I recently visited the home, I was very impressed, the staff are extremely friendly, and I was made to feel very welcome.
The services were 100%, and the cleanliness of the home was 100%.
The manager was very friendly, professional and left me feeling reassured that my friend was receiving
the best possible care.

My son has severe complex needs, and we have been waiting for several years for a place in a suitable, loving care home for him.
I am a very fussy Mum and wanted somewhere for him that paid attention to detail, a clean and well cared for home environment, a lovely atmosphere amongst staff, lots of
activities for my son, medical expertise to care for his needs and most importantly somewhere he could thrive and be happy.
I found all of this and more at The Laurels, and has settled remarkably well and loves his new home already.

My son developed medical problems in September, which were beyond medical help, and he needed end of life care. The staff at The Laurels asked to provide this. The next 3 weeks were very hard, but the love and care provided by everybody, not only for my son but for me as well, was above and beyond anything
I could have dreamt of. The attention to detail, his comfort and welfare and dignity were beyond approach. Even his care after he passed, before the undertaker, was so compassionate. His time at The Laurels was the best I could have wished for.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.222)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.222) out of 10 for The Laurels is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.972 for The Laurels is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.972
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.25 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Laurels is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 7 registered maximum number of service users is 1.4, which has been reached with 3 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
