Dad came to Lilac Lodge & Lavender Cottage Care Home for some respite as I'm his sile carer and need to catch up on some sleep. I have found everyone at the lodge caring, considerate, helpful and very friendly. The meals are excellent and lots of variety. There is a good variety of activities if the residents wish to join in.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are pleased that you are happy with the care and support we provide at Lilac Lodge.
The care home was bright clean and tidy on the weekly visits I made to see her. The staff were always helpful and welcoming. I would have no hesitation in using Lilac Lodge again if the need arises. Overall an excellent facility.
We were very pleased with Lilac Lodge. Mum enjoyed her two weeks' stay. We found the staff warm and friendly. Everywhere was very clean. Mum enjoyed the excellent food, there was plenty to do, and she did join in a bit, which we were very pleased with. We would recommend Lilac Lodge to people and thank you to everyone who took such good care of Mum.
Thank you for your very kind comments. It was a pleasure to have your mum stay with us at Lilac Lodge.
I visited the elderly mother of my best friend while she was poorly in hospital. He husband has to organise emergency respite for her so that on discharge, his wife, who looked after her elderly mother could rest. I found the assessment and respite placement, where I visited on four occasions to be of a very high standard of care. Staff were friendly and helpful and really took time to get to know the lady. She enjoyed some lovely food, and her room was spotless and very comfortable. I would recommend Lilac Lodge to others with confidence.
Thank you for your very kind comments. We are pleased that you were happy with the service provided.
The service has been excellent. Staff were so helpful and polite. My mother is very happy, and that is all that matters. Food always looks great, and the dining area is very clean. It tastes great too. Security and public health seem to be at the forefront of the homes mind. I love my mum being here, and staff engagement is second to none.
When my mother-in-law arrived at Lilac Lodge, she was suffering from increasing immobility and, although mentally alert, struggling with living on her own. With the support of the team, she has progressed to a point of returning to her own home with a live-in carer. The team have worked hard, including her, in numerous activities, which has lifted her spirits a great deal. I think she has benefited from the respite care taken at Lilac Lodge.
We are happy that your mother-in-law is doing well and managing at home with her live-in carer following her stay at Lilac Lodge. It was a pleasure to have her stay with us.
Friendly, helpful and caring staff. Lovely home.
Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you are happy with the staff and Lilac Lodge.
Staff friendly, helpful always happy to help.
Our brother is well looked after.
We are very pleased that our residents family members know that their loved ones are well looked after at Lilac Lodge and Lavender Cottage.
Excellent all round.
My brother is well looked after.
My aunt is very happy in Lavender Cottage. Whenever I visit the staff are all lovely, very friendly and helpful.
When we frazzled carers start looking for a suitable care home for our loved ones we invariably look at the setting, the room sizes and the quality of fittings and activities. This to my error I have found to be wrong, the factor to be of primary concern is the 'quality of the care' and love for their guests, and Lilac Lodge has this in abundance. They truly cherish our loved ones left in their care. Birthdays and celebrations are of paramount importance and the home becomes a very large and loved family leaving us the tired and frazzled carer content and at ease in the knowledge that our loved ones are well looked after.
We are delighted that our families and visitors feel part of our family here at Lilac Lodge and Lavender Cottage.
I was made very welcome when I arrived and found the staff here very friendly and helpful. I have since been treated with dignity and nothing is too much trouble for the staff day or night.
Thank you for your review. I am so glad that the team here at Lilac Lodge and Lavender Cottage have made you welcome in your new home.
I cannot speak highly enough of this home, its carers and management.
A clean and well-run care home. My wife has resided there for 30 months and, owing to the current pandemic, I cannot visit as much as I would like, however, FaceTime and telephone call which the staff have helped.
Lavender Cottage gives mum a homely environment with caring attentive staff. Mum has dementia so management of her daily need must be sometimes challenging but I know they are caring fr her the best way they can.
Building always kept nice and warm, all comforts are catered for.
Always providing entertainment for the residents. Staff are always alert and ready for anything the residents may require from them. Need better storage for wheelchairs/lifts etc as her room seems like a storage cupboard sometimes.
I have been a volunteer for Lilac Lodge for over two years. Always enjoy visiting residents and always feel welcome. Is a lovely, clean, friendly home with loving staff and a very friendly staff. Would recommend this.

Meet the Team (4)

My career in care started in January 2000 when I started working as a carer and then team leader in a Suffolk County Council Home in Lowestoft. Every day was different and I loved the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of the vulnerable and frail people that I cared for.
I later became the manager of an older person’s rehabilitation unit and I worked in this role for 6 years as part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside, social workers, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. When the funding ended for this service I became the manager of the Wellbeing Centre. This involved providing care and stimulating activities for older people and people with dementia.
In 2015, I started my employment with Kingsley Healthcare as manager of Lilac Lodge and Lavender Cottage.
I am proud to manage the home and the team that I work with. The staff are kind, caring and respectful to all residents. The home has a warm and welcoming feeling that is often commented on by families and visitors.

Kimberley Shaw is our deputy manager, and she started her career in teaching, switching to the care sector in 2015. She relishes her role working with both residents and staff.

I joined Lilac Lodge in March 2026 and have over 10 years of experience working in health and care settings, including 3 years in administrative roles. I enjoy the variety my role offers, as well as the opportunity to solve problems and support the day-to-day running of the home. What I enjoy most about working at Lilac Lodge is its warm and welcoming atmosphere. Since joining, I have enjoyed becoming part of a friendly and supportive team that genuinely cares about our residents. Outside of work, I enjoy baking and spending quality time with my family.

I joined the team at Lilac Lodge in March 2023. I have over eight years of experience working in residential care homes and feel I have the knowledge and experience to provide well-balanced meals and cater for the residents who have dietary requirements. The team at Lilac Lodge is very friendly, and my colleagues make me feel very welcome. I feel part of a team here and love working with everyone.
In my spare time, I love to travel to different places. I also enjoy trying different restaurants and cake making.
