My career in care started in January 2000 when I started working as a carer and then team leader in a Suffolk County Council Home in Lowestoft. Every day was different and I loved the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of the vulnerable and frail people that I cared for.
I later became the manager of an older person’s rehabilitation unit and I worked in this role for 6 years as part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside, social workers, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. When the funding ended for this service I became the manager of the Wellbeing Centre. This involved providing care and stimulating activities for older people and people with dementia.
In 2015, I started my employment with Kingsley Healthcare as manager of Lilac Lodge and Lavender Cottage.
I am proud to manage the home and the team that I work with. The staff are kind, caring and respectful to all residents. The home has a warm and welcoming feeling that is often commented on by families and visitors.
Kimberley Shaw is our deputy manager, and she started her career in teaching, switching to the care sector in 2015. She relishes her role working with both residents and staff.
Emma really enjoys the interaction with residents and visitors and loves the fact that every day is different in a care home. She started work at Kingsley Healthcare more than two years ago and joined the team at Lilac Lodge in October 2022. She has wide experience, having worked as an administrator for over 12 years, some of that time in care homes.
I joined the team at Lilac Lodge in March 2023. I have over eight years of experience working in residential care homes and feel I have the knowledge and experience to provide well-balanced meals and cater for the residents who have dietary requirements. The team at Lilac Lodge is very friendly, and my colleagues make me feel very welcome. I feel part of a team here and love working with everyone.
In my spare time, I love to travel to different places. I also enjoy trying different restaurants and cake making.
