We truly believe that my dad coming to live at Uvedale Hall has saved his life as he was unable to cope with living at home alone. Since moving to Uvedale he has put on, much-needed weight with all the lovely food he has been eating. The staff are wonderful, kind, patient, caring and have really lifted
my dad's spirits, made him happier and better than he has felt in a very long time.

I was made most welcome. Care was taken to settle me in. This was a complete change in lifestyle for me, having lived alone for some four years so a three-week trial was just a taster but long enough to make me think that this would be suitable in a few years time (maybe less).
All staff were very
friendly and tried to make me feel at home.

Uvedale Hall must be the best example of a residential home in Suffolk. All the staff genuinely care for all of their residents from the top down. The atmosphere in the home is second to none and you can really feel the care, attention and happy air generated. The food, hall, gardens and standards of
hygiene are excellent. My mother-in-law has only the highest praise for Uvedale Hall and my husband and I certainly second that.

I am a regular visitor to a resident.
I find management and staff very caring and helpful.
They always have a smile.
The residents I see seem so happy and the carers go out of their way to make them comfortable.
I have been to their cheese and wine, cocktail party etc and the food is delicious.
Good
activities and entertainment.
If I had to go in a home I would like it to be Uvedale Hall.

We liked the home as soon as we entered the building the staff are the stars of the show.
Brilliant in every way.
The food is very good as are the activities.
We can't fault the home in any way and have been in many other homes to compare this home to.

After living alone in London for over 20 years, my Nana became unable to look after herself properly at home. We were concerned about the effect living in a residential home would have on her as she's always been very independent, but the positive change in her is undeniable.
The staff at Uvedale
are all so friendly, kind and caring and my family and I feel very happy knowing Nana is receiving the high quality care that she deserves. She's very happy there too and always tells me how nice the care assistants are, which is lovely to hear.

My Mum came and stayed at Uvedale Hall for two weeks' respite care and we were really pleased with the level of care she received. The home has a nice homely feel, the staff are friendly and the food was nice with good choice. Mum particularly liked desserts and there was always something she liked
for pudding! Entertainment and activities were made available through an organised schedule and the team went out of their way to make sure my Mum took part by holding some extra Bingo games as they knew she enjoyed it. We could visit anytime and when my Brother visited from Hampshire, the team were happy to arrange a lunch for them all in the lounge, which was really kind. The previous manager and her team have made the respite far easier for me; it was great to know that Mum was in a safe and caring environment. I would recommend Uvedale Hall.

The carers are there to answer your help which they prioritise. When you first go there they work out what you are any good at. Mine is my memory which they try to develop.
Other people have different priorities, my daughter who is my next of kin is delighted at this and her husband makes suggestions
too.

Staff are always approachable and professional. My mother needs support and encouragement, particularly with her eating. Staff actively monitoring the quantity of food she eats and the chef talks to her frequently about her requirements. They offer alternatives if she dislikes prepared meals. Family
frequently visit and whatever the time of day are updated on her progress. There are a wide range of activities which are offered throughout the week. I am so pleased we found her a place in 'Uvedale Hall' as the care is so good and consistent.

My mother was a resident in Uvedale Hall for just over 3 years. She was very limited in all aspects of daily life and needed most tasks done for her. She deteriorated slowly and was bedridden for the last two weeks. She was shown much sympathy and excellent attention- As were my sister and I when
we spent the last hours with her.

I must say both myself and my family were very impressed from the very start. My husband had been in West Suffolk Hospital for 6 days and was feeling quite low. After just one phone call, made by my daughter, the next day my husband was visited, and arrangements were made to have him at Uvedale Hall
the very next day. He was collected from hospital, had a lovely hot meal on arrival, welcomed by a very friendly staff and taken to a pleasant room. His name and momento were put on his door. He enjoyed the 3 week stay, afternoon activities and entertainment and a very caring staff. I know and hope he will come for another respite care whenever needed.

On Deb 10th I had a very bad chest infection as I had no one to look after me, I phoned Uvedale Hall to see if they had a room after speaking to the manager, she assured me she had a room and I could go right away, I was met at the door by her and taken to my room in the lift by a very helpful member
of staff and always made very welcome. I was there over Christmas had my meals in my room, my choice, Christmas day my table was laid with a pretty Christmas table cloth also a cracker. The visit from the doctors and medicines picked up is a great help. I found manager and staff very friendly and helpful.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.846) out of 10 for Uvedale Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.846 for Uvedale Hall is calculated as follows: ( (237 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 273 Ratings = 4.846
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Uvedale Hall is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Every day is different, full of fun, laughter and sometimes a few tears, and we really are one big family that extends to all residents and their loved ones. My laughter is infectious, and even if residents don’t always see me, they often hear me and say it reassures them. I previously worked as a Caretaker and in Building Support, and since joining Healthcare Homes, I’ve achieved my NVQ in Hospitality, which supports me in my role.

Uvedale Hall is a beautiful home, and I really enjoy working with the wonderful residents. I take time to understand each person’s food and drink needs, making sure they can enjoy what they love while receiving the right nutrition.
