Staff have done a fantastic job throughout a really challenging period over the last year. It is great to see things starting to return to normal and the positive impact this is having on residents and staff. My Dad has been a resident for 4 years. He likes to retain some independence, but has times
when he relies more on the care and support of staff. All the staff are kind, patient and caring and they offer friendship and humour, which he greatly appreciates. My Dad looks forward to the afternoon activities, particularly the visiting entertainers (who have dropped in via zoom during the pandemic). They are the highlight of his week. The care home is near to the centre of Needham Market and near to Needham Lake- the gardens and grounds are maintained beautifully.
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThank you so much for taking the time to provide such a wonderful review on the love, care and support we provide here at Uvedale hall. I will endeavour to pass on your comments to all the staff and visiting entertainers who have ensured we could continue to provide much-needed fun and amusement throughout a difficult period of time. Suzanne.

Ever since we moved my Dad to live at Uvedale, he has been happier. The staff are wonderful and nothing has been too much trouble, always seeing to Dad's needs quickly and with a smile. The whole atmosphere is of a "home from home" and me and my family can now rest assured at all times that Dad is being
very well cared for, for which we are all so grateful. Throughout the COVID crisis, Uvedale has been well run and a sanctuary of calm and kindness.
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThank you for taking the time to review the love, care and support we provide here at Uvedale. We are so pleased that you and your family member are happy with the home and the services we provide. I will ensure your comments are passed on to all the staff. Suzanne.

My Mum has been a resident at Uvedale Hall for the last two and a half years. After living in her own home for 72 years, I wondered if she would settle anywhere else, but she did and very quickly, thanks to the wonderful staff. She soon made new friends, enjoys all the activities and gets on well with
all the staff. My Mum is very happy there, which of course, makes me happy. The past two months haven't been the easiest for her, due to Covid, but the wonderful care the staff have given her, has got her through it and she is so much better than she was and still improving, thanks to them. I cannot fault Uvedale Hall at all and would recommend it to anyone.
Reply from Michelle Byrd, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThankyou for your lovely review, your mum is an absolute pleasure to care for. We will always strive to do the best for all of our residents.

Having been married for sixty years, my wife had to go into care six months ago. Based upon local recommendations, we chose Uvedale Hall. I take great comfort in the knowledge that my wife is in safe hands and properly looked after by nice people in a nice place. I could not wish for more.
PS my daughter
said, "It does not smell like a care home." Telling words indeed.
Reply from Jon Hammond, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallWe welcomed this lady into our home from another care setting with several complex care needs. Her husband has been extremely supportive from the very start. Together we have worked alongside other healthcare professionals to support this resident to improve her health, wellbeing and regain a community spirit. Her husband has been very respectful of the visiting conditions currently in place.

My mother has settled into Uvedale Hall and is very happy there. The staff are very friendly and kind and she enjoys the food. She is well looked after and the garden is very nice. The building is imposing but could do with some updating, particularly the heating system which was a problem last winter.

Mum arrived for respite after discharge from the hospital. Within days she had settled in so well and currently on week three is flourishing with the care and stimulation of the dedicated staff. She is full of praise for staff/food/entertainment and her room. So I am answering the questions on behalf
of Mum as due to lockdown restrictions I have been unable to observe myself.
Reply from Jon Hammond, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThe staff enjoy hearing how new residents have settled. Especially after they have been a little dubious in joining us. Each member of our team strives to make new residents welcome. This has been very difficult recently due to new residents being isolated for 14 days. The staff have worked outstandingly to welcome new residents to Uvedale Hall. it is always good to hear that residents are enjoying the experience of living at Uvedale Hall.

I am very happy with the way my mum is being looked after. She is very happy here. He room has been changed to a ground floor room where she gets a better view of the garden, which she loves. She talks to the gardens and anyone walking by. Everyone is so kind and caring. I am pleased with the way they
have handled the coronavirus. They shut down early and haven't had a single case there. Very impressed.

I was at Uvedale Hall for a week's respite care. I greatly enjoyed the activities, they were varied each day. My washing and laundry was done every day and returned immaculately. The staff are kind and attentive. A very pleasant friendly atmosphere. I would have liked more meals in the lovely dining
room, rather than served in the bedroom, but that's maybe because I just like talking to others.

It is hard asking a parent to go into care even if it is only for a short period of time so that you have time to care for the other parent. I have done this recently with a heavy heart, I was so very worried about how Mum would be. I should have saved my energy, Mum was delighted with her room, the
food was excellent she could do as much or as little as she wanted, the staff and carers were amazing, caring, thoughtful, trustworthy and available all the time. I sadly lost my Dad during Mum's stay, a week at Uvedale Hall, the management and staff went the extra mile and sat with Mum when she needed just some company or for a chat, they were all amazing, the care was outstanding in all aspects of her stay. Thank you.

The staff do a great job of looking after my mother-in-law. They are very caring. I don't think there are enough trips out or encouragement to sit in the garden when the weather is nice. There could be more stimulus.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.846)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.846) out of 10 for Uvedale Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.846 for Uvedale Hall is calculated as follows: ( (237 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 273 Ratings = 4.846
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Uvedale Hall is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
