I visit my grandmother weekly at Uvedale Hall. All the staff are wonderful and greet me with happy smiles. My grandmother's health is deteriorating, but they make sure she is comfortable and always encourage her to have a chat and join in with the activities. She is treated with so much kindness and
respect, and I feel very humbled that they care so much. I am so very happy that I found such an amazing place for my grandma to live out her later years.
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThank you for taking the time to review Uvedale. We feel very lucky and truly honoured to have your grandmother in our care. I will ensure all the staff are aware of your review and kind words. With our best wishes, Suzanne and Team Uvedale.

My mother has been very happy at Uvedale and is well looked after by the caring staff. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home and she enjoys the activities that are organised for them. The staff understand my mum's needs and all go that extra mile to help.

Our uncle was trying to manage on his own but after Covid, he became depressed and lonely. Moving him to Uvedale Hall has given him a new lease of life. The staff and management are wonderful, working hard to create a family atmosphere. The care and food are excellent. The gardens are peaceful and well
kept. The bedrooms and community spaces are very well maintained. Highly recommend Uvedale Hall.
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThank you for such a wonderful reflection of Uvedale Hall and the team that work there. I am consistently impressed by the care, consideration and good humour with which my mother is treated by the care staff at Uvedale. I always feel that she is treated as an individual and she has told me how much she enjoys the little personal interactions that she has with them. The management staff
are equally kind and thoughtful towards my mother's visitors. The pandemic has made the provision of care so much more difficult all round. I admire hugely the way in which Uvedale staff have performed in this public health crisis.
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallAs a team, we always strive to do the best we can for our residents and their loved ones, so thank you very much for acknowledging this and taking the time to give us this fabulous review. My mother has only just moved to Uvedale Hall, but already she is saying how lovely and kind the carers are and that staying there is like being on holiday! Mum is enjoying three meals a day as well as coffee and afternoon tea with regular and varied entertainment in the afternoons. She feels safe,
less lonely and cared for. Myself and my family are so grateful. Thank you, Uvedale Hall!

My Mum has been a resident for the last year at Uvedale Hall and I can’t rate the Manager and staff highly enough. Mum arrived underweight and very weak unable to have a meaningful conversation. Now, Mum still has her good and bad days but the good days are far more than the bad now and her weight has
improved. Thanks to Uvedale Hall's management and staff.
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThank you so very much for taking the time to write us a review regarding your mum's care and support. My dad has been at Uvedale Hall for a year now. They have just been absolutely amazing. Everyone is so kind and helpful. My dad is treated with such respect. If I have any concerns, there is always someone I can voice these to. The staff always seem to be smiling, even behind the masks. I wasn't able
to visit on fathers day as I have covid, but Dad was well chuffed with a present they gave him - how thoughtful. Sums them up - really caring.

After a spell in hospital with sepsis and cellulitis, Mum arrived at Uvedale Hall exhausted but happy to be there. The treatment she received could only be described as outstanding, the food was wonderful and Mum started to put on some much needed weight, (in a good way). Nothing was too much trouble
for all the staff and carers, whoever knocked on the door would enter with a smile and a cheery greeting. I am fully confident that Mum's recovery was down to the incredible, thoughtful manner in which she was treated. I would have no hesitation in Mum staying again in the future.

Despite the recent and ongoing difficulties managing Covid and its restrictions Uvedale Hall seems to have boundless ideas, energy and plans for its residents and staff within the home to enhance and make the home truly a place to be. My father has lived a much longer life only due to their love, care
and attention each and every day. When times were hard recently and many days must have been dark, the manager and her team have oozed positivity and persevered to come out with such optimism and inspiration to promote a bigger and better home. At a time when one would expect the team to slow down, breathe and realign, no, Uvedale are charging ahead with ideas and plans to renovate and refurbish. How admirable! There are few homes that can truthfully exude such genuine care and attention to detail for one another and respect for each other and all under their care. There seems to be no usual day or routine at Uvedale Hall, it’s a true place to live every minute!
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThank you so much Amanda for taking the time to recognise and also highlight, how hard we are all trying, to make Uvedale Hall a "true home for our residents". We are so lucky to be able to work in their fabulous home with them all. I endeavour to share your lovely feedback with everyone. With the kindest of regards Suzanne and Team Uvedale.

Mum had Parkinson's and was deteriorating rapidly. Uvedale Hall and the team provided a safe, comfortable, professional, yet family-orientated environment for Mum. Mum was at Uvedale Hall for just under two years before she passed away at the home. During that time, she had excellent care. The staff were friendly and helpful. This care home is run and managed to a very high standard. The manager treats everyone as her own family and staff are very helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.846)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.846) out of 10 for Uvedale Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.846 for Uvedale Hall is calculated as follows: ( (237 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 273 Ratings = 4.846
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Uvedale Hall is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

The residents are the reason I love coming to work each day. I care for them with empathy and understanding, shaped by my own experience of having a family member in a care home setting. I love working here as it truly feels like my second home and a safe, happy place. Every day is different, full of fun, laughter and sometimes a few tears, and we really are one big family that extends to all residents and their loved ones. My laughter is infectious, and even if residents don’t always see me, they often hear me and say it reassures them. Uvedale Hall is a beautiful home, and I really enjoy working with the wonderful residents. I take time to understand each person’s food and drink needs, making sure they can enjoy what they love while receiving the right nutrition. Alongside my Healthcare Homes training, caring for my own mother, who lived with dementia, has given me valuable experience and insight, helping me understand residents’ needs and support them in a thoughtful and personal way.

I was originally trained as a painter and decorator, have experience across a range of building trades, and have completed all required Healthcare Homes training to keep the home safe and well maintained.

I enjoy the family feel of the home and building good relationships with the residents, while taking pride in maintaining high housekeeping standards in such a beautiful setting at Uvedale Hall. Working closely with the housekeeping team, I help keep the home warm, welcoming, and fresh, and it’s always lovely to hear residents say how pleased they are with their rooms. My previous experience working in a hair salon, supporting the team and welcoming clients, along with my passion for keeping a well cared for home, helps me bring a high standard of cleanliness and care to my role.
