Uvedale Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk

Uvedale Hall was named after the famous botanist, Robert Uvedale. The property is located in the Gipping Valley in the attractive Suffolk town of Needham Market. The home is convenient for visiting Ipswich and Stowmarket, and Needham Lake is nearby, a perfect location for walking. Whilst Robert Uvedale was renowned for propagating the Cedar of Lebanon tree, it is the hundred year old geranium plant in the residents' conservatory that attracts everyone today. Residents can also enjoy the garden with its well maintained grounds and central fountain.

Uvedale Hall is one of the finest care homes in Suffolk, offering an unparalleled range of facilities and services in idyllic surroundings.

Uvedale Hall is an attractive Georgian home that has three elegant lounges, a south-facing conservatory and a magnificent staircase, winding round a sparkling chandelier. Accommodation is offered in single bedrooms all of which are with en-suite facilities and are tastefully decorated. Television and telephone points are provided. Rooms are fully furnished, however, residents are encouraged to bring items of their own furniture and possessions with them so that their room can become truly their own.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards and chosen not only for their skills but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. Staff are available constantly and provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual.

Residents are regularly assessed to ensure that their needs are fully met. Appointments can be arranged with a visiting optician, dentist, and chiropodist. The home has an in-house hairdressing salon that provides all the usual services plus manicures and hand massages. Catering staff provides delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, and special diets can of course be provided for.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Uvedale Hall in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.859 for Uvedale Hall is calculated as follows: ( (135 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.859

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Uvedale Hall is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 5.8 positive Reviews (29 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 5.8 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My father has been a resident at Uvedale Hall since February, I have been continually impressed with the care they offer to him.
He particularly appreciates the companionship offered by staff (he very much enjoys the afternoon activities that are on offer) and highly praises the food and cleanliness of his room.
I find the staff to be helpful, friendly and genuinely concerned for my dad's welfare, which is comforting and highly appreciated.

After living alone in London for over 20 years, my Nana became unable to look after herself properly at home. We were concerned about the effect living in a residential home would have on her as she's always been very independent, but the positive change in her is undeniable.
The staff at Uvedale are all so friendly, kind and caring and my family and I feel very happy knowing Nana is receiving the high quality care that she deserves. She's very happy there too and always tells me how nice the care assistants are, which is lovely to hear.

After a short spell in hospital and another care home, my mum was transferred to Uvedale Hall. She had lived alone for 23 years with only family visiting but was still able to move around and look after herself. Whilst in previous care, she lost her self-esteem and confidence in walking which closed her off from other residents. Since our first day at Uvedale Hall, we were made to feel very welcome and at home, all information - medical, dietary and daily routines were noted down and mum settled in very quickly. We saw a big change in her, eating, laughing, smiling and walking and joining other residents for lunch and activities. Mum also asked if this could be her home as she did not want to live alone anymore. This would not have been possible without the love, care, patience and dedication of all the staff at Uvedale Hall, we owe them so much. I've got my mum back. Thank you.

The care given by the staff at Uvedale Hall to my great aunt was second to none.
They were kind, thoughtful and caring. They made everything so much easier for us all in the last few months.
We will always be grateful to them all.

My Mum came and stayed at Uvedale Hall for two weeks' respite care and we were really pleased with the level of care she received. The home has a nice homely feel, the staff are friendly and the food was nice with good choice. Mum particularly liked desserts and there was always something she liked for pudding! Entertainment and activities were made available through an organised schedule and the team went out of their way to make sure my Mum took part by holding some extra Bingo games as they knew she enjoyed it. We could visit anytime and when my Brother visited from Hampshire, the team were happy to arrange a lunch for them all in the lounge, which was really kind. The previous manager and her team have made the respite far easier for me; it was great to know that Mum was in a safe and caring environment. I would recommend Uvedale Hall.

The carers are there to answer your help which they prioritise. When you first go there they work out what you are any good at. Mine is my memory which they try to develop.
Other people have different priorities, my daughter who is my next of kin is delighted at this and her husband makes suggestions too.

Staff are always approachable and professional. My mother needs support and encouragement, particularly with her eating. Staff actively monitoring the quantity of food she eats and the chef talks to her frequently about her requirements. They offer alternatives if she dislikes prepared meals. Family frequently visit and whatever the time of day are updated on her progress. There are a wide range of activities which are offered throughout the week. I am so pleased we found her a place in 'Uvedale Hall' as the care is so good and consistent.

My mother was a resident in Uvedale Hall for just over 3 years. She was very limited in all aspects of daily life and needed most tasks done for her. She deteriorated slowly and was bedridden for the last two weeks. She was shown much sympathy and excellent attention- As were my sister and I when we spent the last hours with her.

I must say both myself and my family were very impressed from the very start. My husband had been in West Suffolk Hospital for 6 days and was feeling quite low. After just one phone call, made by my daughter, the next day my husband was visited, and arrangements were made to have him at Uvedale Hall the very next day. He was collected from hospital, had a lovely hot meal on arrival, welcomed by a very friendly staff and taken to a pleasant room. His name and momento were put on his door. He enjoyed the 3 week stay, afternoon activities and entertainment and a very caring staff. I know and hope he will come for another respite care whenever needed.

On Deb 10th I had a very bad chest infection as I had no one to look after me, I phoned Uvedale Hall to see if they had a room after speaking to the manager, she assured me she had a room and I could go right away, I was met at the door by her and taken to my room in the lift by a very helpful member of staff and always made very welcome. I was there over Christmas had my meals in my room, my choice, Christmas day my table was laid with a pretty Christmas table cloth also a cracker. The visit from the doctors and medicines picked up is a great help. I found manager and staff very friendly and helpful.
