Reviews

8.8 The White House has a Review Score of 8.8 (8.842)

The Review Score of 8.8 (maximum of 10) for The White House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The White House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 3.933 for The White House is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (31 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 3.933

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.909 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The White House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 6.6 positive Reviews (33 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 6.6 Target = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

This is the 3rd months my aunt has been a resident. She is a very private person, therefore taking time to settle in. She is being looked after with understanding and patience and is comfortable in her own surroundings.

When I visit my husband, I am treated with kind and friendly support. All staff are helpful in every way at all times. Even when he has been difficult to manage. I am satisfied that the staff deal with whatever the problem is in a kind and supportive way. In general, this care home provides good care.

When my mother first arrived at the care home, I was rather concerned as the on-line review did not read well. She was initially a respite resident but now is a permanent resident and has settled reasonably well.
After many visits to my mother, I have seen how much hard work and care goes int each day to ensure that all residents are comfortable and well fed. My mother always looks well dressed and clean. The whole house smells clean and fresh. In conclusion, I must say that I am happy for my mother to be there.

I suffer from PSP and my youngest son said I should go in a home when I fell a couple of times in a weekend and bruised my face. My daughter told me to go in this home as it is nearest to my home environment. I complained to the manager about the noise from another room and was moved the next day to another room. The care nurses etc are very helpful when I fall and get to the stairway.

I have found this care home very good. The care my mother-in-law receives is excellent, nothing is too much trouble and I am always kept informed about mum's care. My mother in law has been in The White House for almost four years, she is very happy and content. I have had two bad experiences with previous care homes and am delighted to have found a good one.

My mother has been a resident at The White House for just over a year and she is very happy and content in her new home. The staff provide excellent care and support in a friendly atmosphere.
There are a variety of activities on offer for the residents including trips out in the minibus. This month the residents have had visits from a group of handbell ringers, The Lions and various singers and musicians.

The home has had lots of improvements over the last 6months. Staffing levels seem better.
My mother is treated well by the staff and they are very good at keeping me informed.

On visiting my Aunt last week, I thought there had been a very big improvement in her care. Her room was tidy and clean and she was cleanly dressed. Also, the staff were more communicable.
Earlier in the year, her care was leaving a lot to be desired. the current improvement needs to be maintained. I would say the care appears to be good now, but it was very poor.

Staffing levels are poor - many times agency personnel. Food boring - same vegetables day in day out (mainly carrots, cauliflower) sometimes hard, or alternatively, 'sloppy'. Same second every day ie. jelly and ice cream. A second choice for main course invariably jacket potato.

While some carers are excellent, others including some who have been doing this a long while still have no idea.
What happens if there is a fire between say 10 pm-7.30 am when only 2 night carers are on duty.

The new manager has only recently taken over but already we are seeing some changes for the better. My mother has always enjoyed the food (very important to her). The carers are mostly pleasant and attentive, cleaning leaves something to be desired. My mother does not join in activities because she does not want to, but also the communal room is too hot for her. Too soon in new manager's regime to say much else.
