If I had to describe this home in one word it would be 'friendly'. All the staff are fabulous, particularly the chef and the activities lady. The facilities are good and the overall atmosphere is fairly upbeat. The accommodation is a converted Victorian house with a modern extension set within a lovely courtyard garden.

My mother has lived at The White House since end August 2018 she appears to be very happy, she is always praising the staff and she is being looked after extremely well. Nothing appears to be too much trouble, she loves her room and the food is very good even though she is not eating much at the moment.

The staff here are excellent. They go out of their way to be helpful, friendly and supportive. There are plenty of activities in the home organised by enthusiastic, caring staff and they make everything as inclusive as the residents are able. The management have been very understanding and helpful in all matters. I'm really pleased with the level of care here.

We are happy with the care provided by The White House, Beccles. However, due to mother in law not being self-motivated we would like to see more encouragement and firmer with her (note: we know the staff try on a daily basis to get her out of bed).

This is the 3rd months my aunt has been a resident. She is a very private person, therefore taking time to settle in. She is being looked after with understanding and patience and is comfortable in her own surroundings.

When my mother first arrived at the care home, I was rather concerned as the on-line review did not read well. She was initially a respite resident but now is a permanent resident and has settled reasonably well.

After many visits to my mother, I have seen how much hard work and care goes int each day to ensure that all residents are comfortable and well fed. My mother always looks well dressed and clean. The whole house smells clean and fresh. In conclusion, I must say that I am happy for my mother to be there.

I suffer from PSP and my youngest son said I should go in a home when I fell a couple of times in a weekend and bruised my face. My daughter told me to go in this home as it is nearest to my home environment. I complained to the manager about the noise from another room and was moved the next day to another room. The care nurses etc are very helpful when I fall and get to the stairway.

I have found this care home very good. The care my mother-in-law receives is excellent, nothing is too much trouble and I am always kept informed about mum's care. My mother in law has been in The White House for almost four years, she is very happy and content. I have had two bad experiences with previous care homes and am delighted to have found a good one.

On visiting my Aunt last week, I thought there had been a very big improvement in her care. Her room was tidy and clean and she was cleanly dressed. Also, the staff were more communicable.

Earlier in the year, her care was leaving a lot to be desired. the current improvement needs to be maintained. I would say the care appears to be good now, but it was very poor.

Staffing levels are poor - many times agency personnel. Food boring - same vegetables day in day out (mainly carrots, cauliflower) sometimes hard, or alternatively, 'sloppy'. Same second every day ie. jelly and ice cream. A second choice for main course invariably jacket potato.

While some carers are excellent, others including some who have been doing this a long while still have no idea.

What happens if there is a fire between say 10 pm-7.30 am when only 2 night carers are on duty.

The new manager has only recently taken over but already we are seeing some changes for the better. My mother has always enjoyed the food (very important to her). The carers are mostly pleasant and attentive, cleaning leaves something to be desired. My mother does not join in activities because she does not want to, but also the communal room is too hot for her. Too soon in new manager's regime to say much else.

"From my many years of experience in the building industry, one of the biggest but most rewarding challenges was adapting to the nature of the care industry. I take pride in being professional and maintaining the home to an excellent standard. My favourite part of my day is towards the end of my shift as I enjoy knowing I've achieved something that benefits others."

"Happy family, with incredible staff and amazing individuals who live here. Our parties are some of the bests in the area in my opinion. The biggest highlight of my career so far has been being able to be there for families when they need to support the most, and seeing residents smiling and happy."

"There isn’t a part I don’t like apart from peeling potatoes! I enjoy tackling new recipes, seeing residents enjoy their meals and spending time making sure food looks and tastes good. I like working at The White House as it’s small, which makes us closer as a team and we know the residents very well. I’m looking forward to more events, meeting new people and getting to know families as this helps us to expand with ideas to change our menu going forward."
