My Mother has been staying at Yaxley House for respite care. It is a very welcoming and friendly environment. The staff have been first rate and made my Mother feel at home. She has been taking part in all of the activities and her mobility and general health improved during her stay. Everywhere is clean and well looked after, you can tell all the staff take pride in their roles. She has made friends and really enjoyed the communal meal times in the dining room. I would particularly like to thank the management team, who have been supportive and helped guide me through the whole process and the activities manager who was a great friend to my Mother. They all came to say goodbye when she left and gave my Mother a leaving present. Highly recommend!

We always get a very warm welcome from the manager and all the members of staff when we visit Mum at Yaxley House.
Everyone knows Mum by name which is lovely to hear.
The activities team have certainly got Mum engaged with joining in with a wide variety of activities, which we never managed, so well done.
It always smells clean, and the housekeeping team are constantly ensuring it keeps that way.
The overall ethos is that this IS Mums home and we can visit whenever and bring the dogs in as well. Not forgetting getting a cuppa and biscuits, just like at home.

So an overall lovely place for Mum to live - thank you Yaxley House

Yaxley House proved ideal for my weeks convalescence after a major operation. The caring staff are exceptional, so friendly, helpful and professional. The beautiful rectangular courtyard is a lovely place to walk and enjoy fresh air. My main wish was that the rooms had a shower in their ensuite.

Above all, it is the wonderful staff that make the Yaxley House special.

Very kind care staff, very clean the only let down was the food and drink vegetarian option was the same each day for the 7 days mum was in your care.

Reply from Sarah Carter, Home Manager at Yaxley House Care Home

We have a weekly menu with a different vegetarian option each day, so I am very sorry to hear there was not enough choice. We have recently reviewed and updates our menus and I will ensure there is enough vegetarian choice moving forward. It was a pleasure to meet and look after your mum

I am sorry to say that Yaxley did not comply with my father's wishes and completely disregarded his respect form.
They did not put his best interests first and did not consider the longer term implications of their actions. They allowed him to be taken into hospital even though he did not wish to go, they failed to contact me.
The manager at the time was rude, unprofessional and unable to answer my questions or reply to my emails. This led to us leaving within a week, we no longer had trust or confidence in the home.
I have since raised a complaint which I have been waiting over two months to get any answers from I am incredibly disappointed and frustrated with the system! The care staff at Yaxley are very kind and compassionate people but there simply are not enough of them and they are not properly supported.

During our time at Yaxley we saw four changes in management each with fresh ideas and promises but sadly none came to fruition. Deeply saddened by the experience.

My father is a full-time resident at Yaxley Care Home in Suffolk. Dad has dementia, so he needs a lot of care. In the 18 months since Dad became a resident, I am in awe at the level of attention he has received. Dad is treated like a beloved family member. The staff know him well and joke with him constantly. I ask my dad constantly if he is happy. Without any doubt, my dad is adamant that Yaxley is the place for him. Also, Yaxley has a great programme of activities that, fortunately, Dad is able to enjoy.

Reply from Sam Clifford, Hospitality Manager at Yaxley House Care Home

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Your Dad is very much one of the Yaxley family and is always first on the bus when we go for our monthly day trips. His love of music is a pleasure to witness and we are so happy he is at home here.

The stand out aspect of the care at Yaxley House is the warm and positive attitude of the staff. The combination of a modern wing with a traditional building allows residents to go outdoors but remain within the safe area. I have always found the home to be spotlessly clean and I was surprised on my first visit to find that it does not smell like a care home. My father has been a resident for nearly two years and I have always observed him to but treated with respect by warm and friendly staff, even when his condition makes this very difficult. I have always made welcome to visit and be involved as much or as little as I wish with his care. The food is very good, always a choice of two different dishes. Sharing lunch with my father is one of my few ways to interact with him and the quality of the food makes this much easier! I have never regretted my decision to move my father to Yaxley and would make exactly the same decision today.

This is such a wonderful care home. I'm so pleased to have Dad here. The staff are lovely, kind and helpful plus make me feel very welcome when I come and visit. The activities are amazing too. So much goes on in Yaxley during the week. Bingo, armchair exercises, singing and live music. Dad has also taken up playing the guitar again, which has been encouraged by Yaxley and due to his love of music - they have taken him out on a number of trips. We are so fortunate to have found Yaxley. We receive many photos of Dad enjoying himself and I couldn't be more happy.

I can’t thank the staff at Yaxley enough, they look after my uncle with such care and attention. The setting of Yaxley House is rural and secluded with normal security arrangements you would expect to keep residents secure. Some rooms are en-suite, others share communal bathrooms. The home is warm and clean. Regular entertainment is provided and trips out for the residents and if you wish to take your loved ones out yourself there is also that option. Yaxley really shines in the care they provide. My mum recently moved here following a stroke which has been difficult for her, no longer living independently. Equally, it has been quite traumatic for us her close family too. The staff at Yaxley have done so much in so many ways to make the transition as painless as possible for all of us. All staff without exception exude kindness and concern. They all go above and beyond to make certain that my mum and her family are supported. It is difficult to praise them enough. I know with certainty that Mum is being looked after with kindness and that she is safe, secure and eating properly.

It has been hard for Mum to move from home where she had lived for 56 years and to accept she needed a higher level of care. I have found all the staff really helpful, friendly, caring and considerate to her needs. Mum is quite a private person and the team has recognised this. They keep me updated with any concerns they have and resolutions. Since she arrived in November I have seen her smile far more than she had for a long time and it is lovely to see.

Excellent staff who are knowledgeable, caring and supportive.
For December 2023 a Christmas program was prepared for each day of the month and sent to family members, who were invited to join in any of the activities. These included an Open House with cheese and wine, carol singing and Christmas crafts.

My mother, even at the age of 101, was able to enjoy many of these activities and still experience a traditional Christmas.
