Highly recommend this care home.
The new conservatory area has added great value to the home, providing a very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing area for residents to sit and enjoy. It has opened up the garden area from the outside, allowing residents to enjoy the garden when sitting inside.
Thank you.
Mum moved to Avenue House in autumn 2023 and is so pleased with her new environment. She can't talk highly enough of the staff and is so pleased with the food, the activities and the care everyone is taking to help her settle. Avenue House really is a care home that cares.
It’s clear that she feels listened to and has her needs catered for. The staff are so friendly and always have time for a chat, which she appreciates. When we visit, we feel welcomed into the warm and friendly atmosphere too.
The home’s Quaker ethos seems to present itself particularly through the attention given to providing both residents and relatives with opportunities to give feedback to trustees. Also, the weekly meeting including members from local meetings provides a lovely way for Mum to keep in touch with her local community.
Mum’s move into Avenue House was both a surprise and a relief and we feel so grateful knowing that she has such a good quality of life for her final years.
The staff are all incredibly kind and thoughtful. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, like an actual home and the manager on duty and senior care workers are always available to talk to which is so reassuring. I feel my mother is safe in their hands!
There is a relative online support group which is invaluable that keeps all relatives up to date. All staff are fully trained and able to support residents in an empathetic and caring way.
I can only reiterate my comments from last year and that my trust and confidence in Avenue House continue. All staff members continue to treat my mother with the utmost dignity and respect and, have demonstrated their abilities to meet my mother's cultural needs. Having the opportunity to participate in bi-monthly Family and Friends Video-link meetings is very refreshing and affords the opportunity for us to gain a holistic understanding of the day-to-day running of the home, as well as any vital information sharing. I welcome this transparency, the leadership style and the ever-evolving vision for the home. My mother is thriving in Avenue House, due to the high-quality activities provided and the dedication of all staff members. Thank you so much.
As a family we continue to be really happy with the care Mum is receiving at Avenue House. In particular, I think the communication we are receiving about changes, Covid-safe access, activities, etc continues to be excellent.
I am the most local and most involved family member supporting mother in her Care Home, hence I am a constant visitor. My mother has been at the Home for 5 years and in that time her care needs have increased and changed. The Home staff are very good at recognising this and responding to her changing needs. Many of the staff are long-term and consequently know my mother well and are not only caring but loving towards her.
Avenue House is a very welcoming and kind environment in which to live. My mother has been there since last August and has settled in well. Despite the recurring Covid issues, the staff remain cheerful and helpful.
I feel so blessed that I “found” Avenue House in late 2022. It’s a really lovely environment and I’m safe in the knowledge that my elderly relative is being cared for so well. There are lots of activities to keep the residents entertained. Visitors are always made welcome.
A very professionally run care home. The facilities and the gardens are well maintained. Even when the home was in lockdown due to an outbreak of covid the residents are treated as human beings with feelings and worries. Visits to residents are encouraged and well organised.
I have travelled from America three times during - and since - the pandemic to visit my mom. Every time I’ve found the staff helpful, caring, kind, and considerate. It hasn’t been easy for them to manage visits through this and they are doing an excellent job. I also appreciate that my mom is very well cared for and happy.
The home has taken every step in trying to keep the residents safe. They have kept us informed with any changes they need to make. The manager and the staff have kept the home going, I am not sure how much input has come from the Quakers. I think the day staff are excellent but have reservations regarding some of the night staff.
My mum has lived at Avenue House for a decade! She chose it after looking at other homes and in preference to supported living - she wanted to be with people and not living alone. She continues to enjoy being with the warm, friendly staff and other residents. Everyone has adjusted to the changes in memory and comprehension with my mum, and she remains as cheerful as ever! As part of my work, I visit other care homes and have yet to come across anywhere else that I would want her to move to.
Avenue house is always spotlessly clean. It doesn’t smell, it feels like you're visiting a home and not a care home. The staff are polite and friendly. The managers and staff should continue to congratulate themselves on the outstanding contribution they have made to the well-being of the people in their care. Not having to worry about the care that is given is refreshing and the focus placed on a good, all-round care package is something that Avenue House should be proud of.
Mum is very happy at Avenue House and often praises the staff. We are confident that she is secure, safe, and content. Mum enjoys her food and mentions the Chef regularly. The staff are very approachable and clearly try to do the best for their residents.
Could not ask for better, staff great. Am very lucky to be here.
My mum moved to Avenue House in April '21 from another care home. This was a huge decision and we did so because we were impressed with the efforts Avenue House had made to enable visits even at the worst times in the pandemic, like constructing the summer house; keeping daily activities rolling with inventive ideas despite constraints and so important - the two way open and honest way sharing of info between management, management committee, and residents' families. We've found staff extremely kind and attentive in the last six months. Although Mum is now very frail and sight and hearing mean she is unable to participate as she once would, staff make efforts to involve her, plan one to one time, visit the garden with her, and so on. Visiting options are as good as they can be under current government guidance and I can now spend time with Mum in her room as an 'essential carer' which is crucial to both of us. Thank you all at Avenue House.
The transition from living independently to moving into Avenue House was smooth and handled with complete dignity.
We are very pleased with the overall standard of care provided. The staff are approachable and are always very polite and cheerful. The care home exhibits a positive and fun vibe. We are pleased to see a wide range of varied activities for the residents.
