My mum was a resident at Manor Cottage for nine years and regarded it as her home. The staff are caring, compassionate and treated her with dignity and respect. They encouraged her to be as independent as possible for as long as she was able to. She loved her room overlooking the garden and enjoyed seeing the different seasons from the comfort of her chair by the window. The food was first-rate home-cooked and the home spotlessly clean. She joined in the activities and especially loved the exercises, entertainment and outings. She had her wish to stay at Manor Cottage till the end and received excellent end of life care with her classical music playing in the background.

My sister lived at Manor Cottage for about 4 years and suffered progressive dementia until her passing recently.

The constant care and attention of all staff was a tribute to their professionalism and dedication to all of the residents. The resident's entertainment was second to none, and many other features including for example, Christmas pantomime and other outings. I never had a minutes worry about my sister in their care, they always made us family members very welcome.

My auntie came home for a 1-week respite at Manor Cottage and decided she needed full-time care. She's not a person of many words but did say that everyone was lovely. She enjoyed the company, the food and the care.

I can only rate what I know, but I have visited before all this COVID came about.

The care that has been given at Manor Cottage during his stay is second to none. The home is a very clean, well organised run home. It gives a feeling of being in your own home. Spotlessly clean. The meals are very good. The care given by all staff of a high standard, to me, is a priority in itself. The resident made to feel welcome the minute they walk in. The staff interact to keep them alert and mobile and having sing along. I know that when the time comes for my husband to go into care, I hope that Manor Cottage will be his home, knowing he will be cared for with no worries. When we pick him up from his short stays now he would stay without a worry.

Manor Cottage Residential Care Home was the best choice we could have made for my dad.
He lived there for 4 years and was very happy and content. Being so far away, that meant a lot to me.
The staff looked after him with care and empathy, especially at his end of life. They were attentive and extremely sympathetic.

He enjoyed many of the activities on offer and the company of what he considered his friends. Meal times were very sociable and he loved the food. Treats were often served and any event was an excuse for something special from the kitchen!

I write this since my wife died on Christmas Day at Manor Cottage.

I was with her and watched with admiration the sensitive way her passing was treated by the duty staff. I remember Manor Cottage with gratitude, it was a time of light not darkness.

Mum originally went on a respite to Manor Cottage, but at the age of 94, was getting very frail. I looked at a few residential homes in the area and obviously wanted the best for Mum. The minute I'd walked into Manor Cottage, you feel at home! Mum loved her room, a very sunny room, and she loved it. But most of all, she loved the team that looked after her. Before Covid, I went and there was always something, always a sing-a-long, little parties, and Christmas was amazing! Mum loved it at Manor Cottage and actually passed away in her lovely "sunny room". I was with her and so was the fantastic staff.

The carers are lovely, the food is good, the activities are very good for the residents that can take part, but my relative was blind and preferred to stay in her room, so felt a little left out.

Reply from Josie Dalli, Director at Manor Cottage Residential Home

Thank you so much for your review, it is so helpful for us to have the feedback. I am so sorry that your mum felt a bit left out - our activities and wellbeing coordinator did spend time with her in her room but it's not quite the same as joining the fun in the sitting room. In the future, we will make sure that we spend more time one to one and see if that helps.

It was a difficult decision to put Mum into a care home, but Manor Cottage was brilliant. Mum settled really well. They do events every day, which Mum loved. It was difficult with lockdown, but the posts every day on Facebook things that they did, which was lovely. It really felt that Mum was part of the Manor Cottage family.

My mother has been in residence for two and a half years at Manor Cottage and has had the best care and love I could ever have hoped for her. Nothing was too much trouble when Mum wanted anything. She sadly passed away this month. The staff were also very comforting to her family as well during Mum's last few days at the home.

My mother was at Manor Cottage for just over a year and was very happy there. The staff are extremely kind and caring, and communication with me and my family was very good. There is a cheerful atmosphere, and most residents seem to feel very much at home there. The range of activities is very good although unfortunately, my mother was not able to participate fully, as she became more frail. I would happily recommend Manor Cottage to anyone looking for a well run and compassionate care home.

My father entered Manor Cottage in May 2016 initially for respite care then full-time residency. From the first moment he arrived, he was met with welcoming care staff who immediately put him at ease. This was a huge change for him after living on his own in his spacious bungalow but he settled in very quickly and all the family worries of him being on his own were now taken out of our hands. The care he received was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble for the care staff, whether it be during the day or night. He very much enjoyed joining in the activities especially the dancing and men's pub lunches. During his residency, all my family got to know the carers and admired their dedication and commitment to all the residents. We can't praise the carers, managers and office staff enough. I know my father was happy at Manor Cottage and he was watched over by the carers on duty the night he died, so he didn't die alone. This was a great comfort to me.

The care given to mum by every member of staff at Manor Cottage was excellent. She was treated with kindness, compassion and respect and any health issues or minor concerns were quickly and efficiently dealt with. Mum died aged 100 at Manor Cottage in December and the sympathy and concern shown to my sister and me helped us so much at a sad and difficult time.

When looking for residential care for our mother we decided on Manor Cottage because the atmosphere seemed right. Unfortunately, mum's health deteriorated and she was unable to participate in most of the activities and social occasions. She was very well looked after, often through difficult circumstances, with loving care and compassion until her death.
