This home delivers a very caring service, the staff are friendly and understand fully the needs of the residents. The food is very good and served in a nicely laid out dining room.

The rooms are a little old fashioned but kept clean, but the lounge is very good. The whole home is maintained to a high standard. There is a good activities programme.

Reply from Josie Dalli, Director at Manor Cottage Residential Home

Thank you so much for your review, we are glad that you were pleased with our service. Regarding the rooms, they may seem a little old fashioned because we work with our residents to design and decorate Manor Cottage and we very much feel that we work in their home rather than them living in our work place. With best wishes.

My uncle has now lived at Manor Cottage for two years, he is very well cared for, happy and settled.
When we take him out he is always happy to return back to Manor Cottage.
The staff are always warm, caring and cheerful and keep us well informed.

On one occasion recently my uncle used the fire exit to leave the home and got out onto the drive adjacent to a very busy road. I have discussed this with staff and will ask them again how this will be resolved. I think secure gates should be fitted outside after the fire exit door.

Reply from Josie Dalli, Director at Manor Cottage Residential Home

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. As we said at the time, the fire door has to stay easily accessible, but we have resolved the problem by putting break glass tubes in the fire doors and they are now alarmed so that we know if they have been opened. We also now monitor your Uncle even...

My mum moved into Manor Cottage as a resident last November 2016 she had previously stayed there on two short respite stays. Since moving in permanently mum has been moved into a lovely ground floor room which was considered safer for her. The staff have completed a file about her (with my help and mums) she has been registered with and seen the GP. There is a full schedule of activities and day trips that mum takes part in and the staff, food quality, cleanliness and care are excellent. Mum is very happy.

A clean, friendly care home situated in a fine Bristol location.
The staff are friendly and caring and do their best to entertain residents.
My father is well looked after and it's amazing to see pictures prior to his coming into the care home. He looks 100 percent better, well fed with 24-hour care service.

His room is kept clean but improvements to swap bath for showers in private rooms could be made.

When living in her little flat, mum was often anxious and sad, Since living in Manor Cottage, mum has become more confident, cheerful and sociable. The indicates to me that mum is treated with respect, dignity and care.

Every time I visit my relative in The Manor Cottage the staff are always friendly and courteous. I am always offered a cup of tea when the residents have their tea break. I am also offered lunch or supper if I am there at those times. The home is always clean and tidy as is my relative's room and bathroom. It is always warm and well lit. There are many activities for the residents and resident's birthdays are celebrated. My relative has been on a few outings organised by Manor Cottage. There is the annual Xmas party and I have always been impressed with the entertainment and the food provided.

I was there for one week's respite care at the beginning of October. I have been to several homes for respite care but have found this home very friendly and exceptionally clean. The staff couldn't do more for you.

Visited my friend several times and she appears to be very happy. I found all the staff very helpful and friendly and all extremely welcoming. The residents were clean and looked well cared for and all seemed happy. My friend said the meals were very good and in the two weeks she was there, they all went out for a meal nearby. I would certainly recommend the home to any future resident and one thing I noticed, it did not smell like an old people's home.

The staff's warmth and reassurance to both my father and myself helped to put our minds at rest about respite care. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Professional care with dignity and respect for my father and our family. Thank you.

My uncle became a resident at Manor Cottage earlier in the year. We reviewed the home before he moved in and found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. There was a lovely atmosphere and we felt that all the staff went the extra mile to make life as enjoyable as possible for the residents. My uncle stayed in a room while there and his food was of the highest standard. Unfortunately, he became very ill but the staff could not have been more helpful and really looked after him well! I cannot recommend Manor Cottage highly enough.

Manor Cottage is an excellent care home. My mother occasionally grumbled about her meals but also said on the whole, they were excellent. My mother's health improved dramatically during her stay at Manor Cottage. She became quite attached to the caring staff and wants to go back to visit them all. She found her room felt small but that was because she was used to her own home. She loved being able to look out over the well-appointed garden.

My mum spent one week respite in Manor Cottage, It was the first time that she had done this, and we were a little concerned how she would get on. She said that the staff was really nice and very kind to her. Nothing was too much trouble, and she felt at home there.

Although she chose to stay mainly in her room, she was happy and contented. She did comment how lovely the food was, and after a week there, her appetite, which was down a bit when she first went in, had come back. So we were very pleased about this.

The staff here have done everything possible to make my mother feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble.

The staff are very patient and kind, and always listen if you have any issues to discuss. I do feel that dad has a better quality of life, and is more sociable since he has been at Manor Cottage.
