This is a lovely care home with great staff. Moving a relative into care is one of the most difficult decisions you have to make, but with lots of help from staff everything went really smoothly. My uncle has been here for a year now, he has been very well looked after and settled in really well. Cannot praise the staff enough for their wonderful care. Knowing he is safe and well looked after has changed our lives, we were so worried about him before.

Mum seems settled in a very short space of time. The staff and management couldn't be nicer and more caring. We feel confident when we leave Mum that she is happy and being well taken care of.

When I phone Beech Lodge whichever member of staff I speak to, they always know in detail how my cousin is getting on. Without exception, the staff show a very professional and caring attitude. They contact the family regularly when any changes occur and keep us in the loop. My cousin went to Beech Lodge when the pandemic started and it was a difficult time. But the care my cousin has received has been excellent in every respect.

All the staff are helpful, caring, easy to talk to about what is going on with my mum's care. Communication here is good, they let us know if there is a problem or if Mum needs anything.

Mum was moved to Beech Lodge from a local hospital having suffered a stroke, this, along with her dementia, caused concerns for her to return home. Apart from some confusion as to if/when Mum would return home, Mum has settled really well, always telling me the staff are really nice and friendly. I have no complaints or doubts that they are looking after Mum. The home is situated off the road and is in lovely grounds.

Visited my aunt before Christmas. The staff are always very welcoming and my aunt is always smartly dressed and nails done, which she always used to do. Due to covid restrictions, I have only been into a visitor's room but have no concerns about the home.

I visited my mother earlier this month I have always found the staff helpful, honest and very kind in the health and welfare of my mother.

In these times I think credit should be given to all the team at Beach Lodge for managing this pandemic with great skill.

My mum has recently become a resident at Beech Lodge a confusing and distressing time for Mum and very emotional for all of us. The manager took the time to listen to our worries and provide solutions and ensured she was there for our arrival. She has built a fantastic team around her and they welcomed mum and put her at ease very quickly. They have stringent covid guidelines so I know she is kept safe and it makes us feel safe when we visit. It is good to see Mum with a smile on her face and engaging with the other residents and staff. Many thanks to all the team.

I have only been here a week so can't give an in-depth report. I can however say what I see from the inside for only a week, the place is good, the staff are good and the food is good. I could pick a few holes in things but I am not pedantic and I am not going to lie, I don't have to.

The care given to our mother was wonderful. Staff were respectful, caring and kind and always friendly. We felt that mum was well looked after in a caring environment, especially when her illness sadly meant she was unable to speak for herself. In these strange times when we were unable to visit as often as we wanted, there was always someone at the end of the telephone to reassure us that Mum was in safe hands. Thank you to all the staff at Beech Lodge.

Review from Richard B (Grandson of Resident) published on 30 June 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My grandfather had vascular dementia and had been a resident of Beech Lodge for the past few years. During that time, all the staff have been incredible, they are all very friendly and you can clearly see they care so much about their residents. The home is cosy, comfortable and kept spotless by the staff at all times. Also, the food that is all cooked on-site, smells yummy and looks great too. The Covid pandemic has been a difficult time for everyone, Beech Lodge staff have gone above and beyond during this time, the measures put in place ensured the safety of the staff and residents, their communication to the families has and continues to be, excellent. They truly deserve a medal for their efforts. Unfortunately, my grandfather's health deteriorated which resulted in his passing last May, the care, compassion, dignity and understanding they showed my grandfather and our family will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything Beech Lodge.

Mum went to Beech Lodge July 2020 during the middle of Covid. We were apprehensive at first, having not been able to look inside the home, but the management and staff were very helpful in sending photos of Mum's room, answering all our questions, accommodating WhatsApp video calls and socially distanced outside visits when allowed. Mum always looks well and is smiley and happy. We like seeing photos of the activities they do and the colour of Mum's nails! (A weekly treat for them). I can't praise the staff enough. They are so kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble. There has been good communication and updates throughout Covid. Thank you to all at Beech Lodge for your amazing work.

Visited my sister today. Was able to sit (at an acceptable distance) outside with her and chat. She was wrapped up well in a blanket and was happy with lots of smiles. The staff are excellent and Beech Lodge is a lovely place for her to be. I know that she is in good hands therefore I am happy too.

Review from H B (Relative of Resident) published on 23 November 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Dad became unsafe at home due to escaping, putting substances in drinks, reduced self-care, aggression and confusion. Social Care Access team were unhelpful, Beech were a ray of light guiding Dad’s transition to Local Authority provision. The team support with dignity, respect and are compassionate. The tranquil grounds, ample parking and accommodating Dad’s gluten-free dietary needs, made Beech an obvious choice (Dad loves nature). They have extreme patience with Dad’s mischievous, dementia driven antics and know him through the life-history summary. Dad struts around like he owns the place. His narrative of past hotel ownership is met via stimulating tasks which retain his skill-set. Dad engages in Art activities (his passion). When asked for present ideas, the amazing list provides activities to retain cognition and provide calming, sensory input to assist Dad’s emotional regulation. Dad says the home “is all wonderful and I couldn’t pick better”. During a visit Dad was the most content ever.

The staff at Beach Lodge have treated my mother-in-law with great care and compassion since she became a resident in January 2019. We have full confidence in their care and they have gone the extra mile during this difficult year to accommodate WhatsApp calls and socially distanced visits in the garden when the weather and guidance allowed. More recently we have been able to visit mum-in-law in her room observing health and safety measures while she receives end of life care.

This review is based on my visit to the home in July 2020. The staff were very welcoming and made me feel as though any concerns I might have had would be listened to and acted upon. The rules for visits were to normally to be in the garden, but due to the inclement weather, the staff still made it possible for me to fulfil the visit. I viewed this as being very considerate.
