It hasn't taken long to ease into life at Longview. Mum is feeling more comfortable with her new. Her room is well appointed and is comfortable & kept clean by the excellent clean team.
If we have any worries or concerns the Manager or Deputy Manager are on hand to help. The Receptionists are always so welcoming. The activity Lady is great and goes above and beyond to work with all residents.
The Care team always have a smile & never show that their job is one of the toughest jobs in this country, which is truly is.

Thank you for making me feel comfortable in being happy to leave Mum in your Care.

You are very welcome. It's been great to see your mum getting back to her old self again - she certainly appears to have settled in very well, and is enjoying the new friendships she has made with everyone, staff and residents alike. Gratitude hardly begins to express how I feel about the incredible team at Longview. From Reception and Carers to the Home Manager, every member of staff has shown exceptional kindness, support, and understanding.
After a difficult and overwhelming journey navigating a care system that often falls short for those needing specialist care, I felt completely unprepared and lost. Longview exceeded every expectation, offering guidance, compassion, and reassurance without judgement or obligation.
They truly stand apart. Not only did they help us through the emotional process of placing a loved one into full-time care, but they recognised that every family's situation is unique and treated us with genuine empathy.

When we were lost in the woods, Longview helped us find our way, and always with a smile. Thank you for everything. I am beyond grateful. My mum is in the very best hands: cared for, accepted, and understood for who she is. I could not have done this without you..

Reply from Andy Kirby, Manager at Longview Care Home

Thanks so much for this. Your journey is not as unusual as you might think. Almost every family faces a multitude of struggles before everything finally falls into place one way or another. You've done an amazing job looking after your mum to date, and we are very happy to help, now her needs have exceeded what one person can possibly provide.

My sincere thanks go to the wonderful team at Longview, you have all been so very kind in the care of our dear Mum right up to and including during her passing. It has been a very emotional and difficult time for us all and your support and kindness has been above and beyond and for that we are so grateful and will never forget it. Mum was treated with respect and dignity all the way through her stay, and her room was both comfortable and clean at all times. you are stars and we can't thank you enough.

On the 14th February the management and staff held a St Valentines Party which was attended by many family members of those in Care at Longview. Leading up to the party lunch everyone had soft drinks, tea or Coffee with biscuits and cake.
The party was well planned the staff very supportive and totally engaged in all the support and activities such a party demanded. Staff ensured that not only the residents had their lunch but also ensured all the visitors were able to have lunch from the buffet which was prepared
The atmosphere was brilliant, lots of chatting, laughter and activities.
The raffle was excellent and residents and visitors alike were cheering at the lucky winners of the 13 wonderful prizes.
Enjoying the whole atmosphere and ambiance of the party was a great opportunity which enabled me to spend several hours with my wife -a great memory to hold,

I am sure I speak for the many residents and visitors when I simply say a huge thank you to everyone at Longview.

My uncle has been a resident at Longview for 12 month. I cannot praise Longview Care Home enough for the exceptional care they give my uncle. Living far away can make supporting his daily needs difficult, but the team have completely eased that worry. They go above and beyond for both him and me, showing genuine warmth, patience, and professionalism every day.
His physical and mental health have improved dramatically thanks to the consistent care, companionship, and support he receives. The staff keep me fully updated on his medical needs and any changes, which gives me complete peace of mind.

Most importantly, my uncle is happy, settled, and truly cared for. Longview has created a welcoming, compassionate environment, and I'm incredibly grateful to every member of the team. Nothing is too much and the staff have become like family to my uncle. I wholeheartedly recommend this home to anyone that may need it in the future.

Reply from Andy Kirby, Manager at Longview Care Home

What a lovely review, thank so much. Your uncle was really very poorly when he came to us, and he's completely better, back to his old self, and has decided to stay with us because he doesn't want to live alone any more. He's a lovely chap, and we love having him with us. Thank you so much for your help getting him back on his feet, he's so grateful to you every day.

Longview care home provided excellent care for my mother. I am a nurse with 41 years of NHS experience and not easily impressed, but the compassionate care my mother received was second to none. All the staff treated my mother with dignity and respect in her final 3 weeks of life. We stayed with mum for her last 72 hours, and the staff's care for us was exemplary, with endless cups of tea and support. I would have no concern whatsoever about using Longview again if the need arises.

Reply from Andy Kirby, Manager at Longview Care Home

Thank you so much for taking time to review our home, a particularly relevant review considering your own extensive nursing experience. We know how important it is to take exceptional care not only our residents, but their families as well, especially during those days when we all need extra support. We are grateful for all your kind words, which I will of course share with our team.

My wife came to Longview at the end of Dec 25 as a resident with advanced Alzheimer's and in poor health. From the very start she, and I, were made so welcome, and her subsequent care was exemplary. The staff are amazing -- so gentle, caring, competent, courteous and full of smiles. The end-of-life care they gave her ensured that she was never distressed, and the same loving care was extended to me and to my family whilst we effectively 'lived' at Longview during my wife's final days. I cannot speak highly enough of the way the staff, from the manager through to the most junior staff member, treated her and us. Longview Care Home is indeed a home, and it is a lovely, immaculate place. How lucky we are to have such an excellent facility in Cornwall. We cannot thank you enough as you helped us through our difficult journey; we could not have done it without you. Bless you all.

I have been absolutely overwhelmed with the care, love, excellence, attention to detail and kindness that has been shown to us as our dearest mum transitions, from one Care Home to another. Everyone has been so very kind and welcoming and has gone beyond the extra mile to help and reassure us, as we walk this path for the absolute best for dear mum. We are extremely thankful and grateful for all your hard walk and kindness. The care staff team are absolutely amazing, full of smiles and love and care and so very, very helpful and won't let me do anything! They look after us with the same love and care as they do our dear mum. My first two thoughts of the place were how beautiful it is and exceptional in every way. Bless you all loads and loads let's continue to walk this path together steadfast and with the same absolute excellence from day one right through for as long as we need. We couldn't manage without and you have taken a heavy weight off us. You are all absolutely amazing!!!

My Mum is a resident at Longview, and she couldn't be in better hands. Due to her Alzheimer's it became impossible for us to care for her at home. We were apprehensive about Mum going to a home; however, we knew it was necessary for Mum's safety and well-being.
From the minute we stepped through the door, we were welcomed like old friends. The staff are so kind and caring; they take the time to get to know the residents and their families, and they have made Mum's transition into residential care as smooth as possible, especially as Mum can be very unsettled at times.
The accommodation and facilities are spotless, Mum's dietary needs as a vegetarian are well catered to, and the home offers activities for residents to enjoy throughout the week.
We are kept updated on Mum's health as well as any concerns raised by the staff or visiting doctor. Mum is well looked after, with expert and compassionate round-the-clock care.

I highly recommend Longview for people needing dementia care 24/7.

Initially we needed respite care for my 85 year old Mum with dementia. We met with staff at the home who came out to make a home visit that same afternoon. Mum was initially very resistant but was soon sensitively talked round to trying out the home. She has been there over 4 mths now and is happy and thriving. The staff are all so lovely caring full of humour and smiles. Mum can be a challenge but they are patient and regularly update us as to how she is doing. She loves the food

Dad has been here for about 7 weeks now. He settled in quickly, much to our surprise.
He thinks he is in a hotel. Everywhere is spotless, the staff are very caring and friendly.
We are regularly kept informed of any concerns and Dr's visits etc.
Open visiting hours means we can visit Dad whenever we like. We are always offered tea or coffee, on arrival, presented on a tray with a plate of biscuits.

I cannot fault the care and support received and would recommend the Care Home to anyone with a family member with dementia.

I first viewed Longview Nursing Home in November 2024 when I was distraught as I hadn't been able to find an appropriate home for my Mum.
As soon as I walked in I felt a relief come over me - the team gave me all the information I needed and more than that confidence that my Mum would be looked after in a safe environment.
From the moment I was told that there was a room available the Longview team made the whole process, transfer from hospital to Longview seamless. Believe me the hospital were not helpful and the team just organised everything.

Mum passed away January 2025 and I thank Longview every day for being there for Mum and our family.

Dad became a resident at Longview in July 2024 after a very stressful 3 months in hospital looking for a suitable home. From day 1 the transition for Dad and ourselves has been stress free and we all had a lot of support from the Longview team. Dad's care is excellent and the carers understand his individual needs. He feels relaxed and at home. His quality of life has been enhanced since becoming a resident at Longview, he enjoys all the entertainment and activities that are arranged. We feel very privileged that Dad is being so well cared for in such a caring, supportive and beautiful home. Dad and his family feel very much a part of the Longview community.

We have just experienced an amazing Christmas at Longview. The team and Activities Coordinator put so much effort into making it a special occasion for the residents and visiting families. It was truly joyous attending Christmas parties and sharing a fabulous Christmas dinner there, it made Dad so happy.

Mum has been in the new block at Longview since August. She settled in very well with everyone making her very welcome. Mum thinks she is in a hotel all the staff are so loving and caring and will do anything for her even though my mum can be difficult at times.
The bedrooms are fantastic and so is the lounge. The level of cleanliness is very good. The food is very good and mum eats it all.
They have weekly activities and entertainment which Mum loves. I feel relieved that she has found somewhere so good and I do not have to worry about her.

I highly recommend Longview as a care home.
