I think it is all good here.
The staff are extremely kind and helpful. My room is lovely with beautiful views. I enjoy having my hair done by the visiting hairdresser. The food is very good and its nice having my family to come and join me for meals. I like doing the crosswords and bingo with the others, also the flower arranging and cake decorating.
I have spent a considerable amount of time at Arcot House over the last few weeks as a family friend of a resident. The care and consideration shown not only to the family but also to me as an outsider has been exemplary. Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff and every suggestion we made was acted upon. I have very good experience of both nursing and care homes, having had both parents, elderly relatives and a former partner all die in one or the other. I thought they all got really good care, but that demonstrated at Arcot House by all the staff surpasses it by far. It's a place I would like to spend final years in.
From the moment I rang to see if there was any room for my father until he died (7 weeks) Arcot House has been AMAZING. The management are super efficient. The staff treated dad like a grandfather even when he was being difficult!! We were kept informed of every development and change in dad's condition. We live a long way away (4.5 hours away) and felt totally confident to leave dad in their care for a few days. The family and friends visiting dad were treated with respect and consideration - teas/coffee/cake/meals. I cannot thank all at Arcot House enough for their care of dad in his last few weeks of life.
My father came to Arcot House after a fall. He is 98 years old and has lived independently with minimum help until then. He has been treated with the utmost care and respect, and particular attention has been paid to his wishes. As his daughter,I and all the rest of the family have been made most welcome when we visit and we have been kept up to date with his condition. Sadly his heart is now failing. As his health deteriorates, Arcot House is managing his end of life care expertly and sympathetically. As a family, we are confident that he is in very good hands.
My mum was a resident at Arcot house for over one year before she sadly passed away at a good age of 93, mum was very well looked after and cared for, mum was very happy with all the staff and everything they did for and so was her family.
My father stayed at Arcot House while we took a holiday in May. He has now stayed a few times and really enjoys his time there. He loves the girls who all fuss over him and make him feel special. He always comments on the food being really good and how he enjoys trips out in the Dove Bug 2 with the activities organiser. Each time he comes home with stories of how he makes new friends which helps when we ask if he would like to return again. The answer will always be yes as it is like a second home to him now. Thank you to all of the staff for making dads time with you all so enjoyable.
My father-in-law came here on a couple of occasions and he was well looked after by all the care staff. We would recommend to anyone.
I found staff usually very friendly and helpful and a good atmosphere was created of course. The food was very tasty and clean plates were achieved easily by one and all. For myself I was not put off staying again if needed.
A happy environment and the staff were very attentive.
I have now stayed at Arcot House a few times for respite care and each time I have noticed improvements. The home is looking really nice, clean and has a lovely homely atmosphere. It has been refurbished to a very high standard in the last few months, which I like. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, I think of them as extended family. I now look forward to my stays here and meeting everyone during activities provided by the home. I look at it here as my second home now. I would really recommend a visit.
Staff are very friendly and caring. Entertainment good. Well looked after. Food good.
Very understanding and extremely helpful in every aspect of dads care and comfort not only towards dad but immediate family.
I visit my mother-in-law at least once a week and find the staff friendly. The home is very well presented and kept very clean, I can't imagine a better care home anywhere.
All the staff are wonderful - extremely caring and considerate. They certainly try and attend to all the needs of everyone living at Arcot. I am so pleased that my mother was fortunate enough to get into Arcot. I live in Canada to it is a huge relief to know that my mother is being well cared for in Sidmouth.
My mother has only been at Arcot House for two weeks but is already feeling very much at home. From the minute she arrived she and we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who have all been very kind and friendly. My mum loves her room, is being very well looked after and is enjoying the tasty meals. She was understandably very apprehensive about moving to a care home, but it has been a very positive experience for both her and us and we are very grateful to everyone at Arcot.
I feel very comfortable. My mother is looked after very well and the staff are very approachable.
I have always found the staff extremely helpful, and in my experience and my partner and other siblings always seen the staff (all staff) to be 100% with all residents and mother could not be in a better care home.
As the main relative of a resident in Arcot House I can honestly say that every aspect of the home has impressed me. The patience, love and care exhibited by managers and staff is exemplary. The furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. Outings are many, varied and interesting and each resident is treated as an individual and the staff bend over backwards to meet their special requests and requirement. I would be very happy to live here myself.
an option. It is a wonderful caring, friendly environment and knowing that mum is receiving such a high level of care helps to give us some peace of mind. We are extremely grateful that mum is being cared for in such a lovely place with such caring staff. I would be happy to recommend Arcot House to anyone.

Meet the Team (2)

My name is Helen and I am the Manager at Arcot House.
I have been in the care industry for 7.5 years, and at the beginning, I went into the care industry as I was looking for a job that would work around a young family, so I started working evenings for a domiciliary care company. I quickly realised how much I enjoyed it and that I wanted to make a career for myself in care, and that career adapted as my children grew up.
My favourite thing about working in care is the positive changes that you can make every day to those you support, building relationships with individuals and their families.
Supporting the staff team to grow and develop in confidence, providing outstanding care throughout every task we do.
Outside of work, I enjoy time with my family, especially going on holiday. I love the heat! I am married and have four children and one granddaughter. We are a family of animal lovers and adore our pets. When I want some quiet time, I can be found riding my horse around the lanes of East Devon.

I have been in the care industry since 2006. I started as a kitchen assistant, then transitioned into doing care. I have completed my NVQs and worked my way up to management.
I have always wanted to help people who are in need. I grew up with an extended family and have been close with my grandparents. Working with elderly people and caregiving in general makes me think of how precious life is.My favourite thing about working in care is learning about elderly people and their life experiences. Always interested in hearing their advice and take on things.
Outside of work, I do not do much outdoor stuff, but when I do, I always do it with my family, visiting places and landmarks. When I am at home, I play a lot of online games.
