Arcot House provided a homely, safe environment for my uncle for the past 7 years.
Although his needs have changed since his arrival, his level of care hasn't. I have always felt so grateful and happy knowing he is living in such a caring place with his needs taken care for in such a gentle way. I
felt so lucky to have my mother also residing in such a fabulous place.

As with most people, my wife and I had great reservations about finding residential care for my Mother-In-Law. However, my whole preconceptions of life in a care home have been changed by Arcot, where a genuine home from home environment has been created. The staff are kind and are caring, the daily
activities are fulfilling, and the kitchen provides fabulous home-cooked food. Thoroughly recommend life at Arcot and would be happy to move in myself.

I cannot recommend Arcot House highly enough. My 91 year old mother spent two amazing weeks there recovering from an injury. She left feeling very much better due to the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff. Each and every one of them go above and beyond in every aspect of their work. They are
all so positive and their smiles say everything about how much they genuinely care. My mother and I wouldn't hesitate to use Arcot again should the need arise. Thank you so much.

She is a family friend who I visited when pregnant and then again after she knitted my baby girl a hat. The care home is beautifully presented, homely and welcoming. All the staff I encountered were warm and chatty, and had sourced knitting supplies and a pattern for her to make the hat which made her
very happy!

My Uncle was with Arcott House for over a year and he built up a great rapport with all the staff, we were all very happy at how he was welcomed and settled in. The staff, two in particular made sure he was well looked after and we never had any cause for concern or worry about how he was. We were always
made welcome and the staff were kind. His accommodation was everything that he needed and wanted. These events can always be a worrying time for all those involved, both residents and family members. This was never an issue. Every aspect that we encountered was excellent, we could not mark the activities though, as my Uncle chose not to be involved, so had no direct experience to grade!
Would we recommend it? - without a second thought.

Overall Arcot House has a lovely environment, the staff are polite - we have our favourites - the cleanliness isn't 100% and needs more deep cleans, the grounds/gardens are lovely as are the communal areas in the house. I love the entertainment provided to keep residents active and mobile.

Dad spent four weeks at Arcot for respite after a spell in hospital. He was looked after very well and enjoyed his stay. The staff were very professional, kind, friendly and respectful. We always felt welcome as a visitor and they kept us informed of Dad's progress. He really enjoyed his trips out and
the activities on offer, as well as the food. Dad is now hoping to spend a week there for respite in the future.

My uncle has been with Arcot House for two months, and I am most pleased. The staff are always welcoming, professional and smart. This is a testament to their manager, who I cannot fault. More importantly, my uncle likes it as well. He has been very happy and content, and we are extremely pleased that
he has decided to stay. I know he is looked after, and it is a great relief to me.

My mother appears to be very happy with her stay considering her age she has taken her respite care well. The only niggle she has expressed to me was the food on a weekend was not all that brilliant. She has praised all the staff for being friendly, helpful and happy to talk and help with Mum's needs.
Our impression from visiting family and friends has also been very good.

Management and staff at Arcot House provide excellent person-centred care for my Mother-in-Law. The family are always kept very well informed of every development and change in my Mother-in-Law's condition. It is a great comfort to all the family knowing that my Mother-in-Law is being cared for so well.
The family are very grateful to the manager and all his staff for all their efforts in trying to keep my Mother-in-Law as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend Arcot House. It is an excellent home to choose for your loved ones.

My mother has always been extremely happy at Arcot House. The care she receives is excellent and she is treated with dignity and respect. I am kept very well informed at all times - especially while I was unable to visit - and I can't fault the kindness that all the staff show, even during testing times.

My name is Helen and I am the Manager at Arcot House.


I have been in the care industry for 7.5 years, and at the beginning, I went into the care industry as I was looking for a job that would work around a young family, so I started working evenings for a domiciliary care company. I quickly realised how much I enjoyed it and that I wanted to make a career for myself in care, and that career adapted as my children grew up.


My favourite thing about working in care is the positive changes that you can make every day to those you support, building relationships with individuals and their families.


Supporting the staff team to grow and develop in confidence, providing outstanding care throughout every task we do.


Outside of work, I enjoy time with my family, especially going on holiday. I love the heat! I am married and have four children and one granddaughter.
We are a family of animal lovers and adore our pets. When I want some quiet time, I can be found riding my horse around the lanes of East Devon.

I have been in the care industry since 2006. I started as a kitchen assistant, then transitioned into doing care. I have completed my NVQs and worked my way up to management.


I have always wanted to help people who are in need. I grew up with an extended family and have been close with my grandparents. Working with elderly people and caregiving in general makes me think of how precious life is.
My favourite thing about working in care is learning about elderly people and their life experiences. Always interested in hearing their advice and take on things.


Outside of work, I do not do much outdoor stuff, but when I do, I always do it with my family, visiting places and landmarks. When I am at home, I play a lot of online games.
