Bishopsteignton House is a grand Victorian villa. Their main values are to treat residents as their own mother or father would want to be treated. Their staff have been with the service for a long time and take pride in not just being professional carers but an extended family for all residents.

As a residential home, residents tend to be quite able, but still require the love and support that can only be received through a 24-hour care home. The residents enjoy a friendly, happy, home-from-home atmosphere - getting to know the carers and their fellow residents well.

Residents are encouraged to join in on the daily activities, eat well, sleep well and socialise. The home is very focused on helping its residents to recapture that sparkle for life. And as a smaller home, staff treat the residents as individuals and have time to pay attention to the little things.

Longer-term residential care and also day-care are available. In day-care, individuals may choose to join the home during the day but go back to their own home during the night. Shorter visits are also available (for example coming for a couple of hours to join for a cup of tea and a bath) and joining in activities with the home's friendly little family.

Bishopsteignton House was like home from home. As soon as we entered the building we knew it was the right place for my dad. My dad has strived from strength to strength. He has found a whole new lease of life. The manager and her team went really above and beyond to meet our family's needs.

My husband and I have been here for some months. Sadly, my husband died and I am still here. The carers and other staff have been so kind and generous with the care they showed him and he always so appreciated what they did for him and for myself also. At any time of the day, there was always help and
care. Everything was always spotless. Our rooms were always clean and comfortable and certainly warm. No one could have cared for my husband and me as these carers have done. Always cheerful even though they were tired. The food here was great and always hot, we enjoyed it all. We also had lovely grounds and views which was relaxing and a pleasure to be in.

My mother has lived at Bishopsteignton House Care Home for approximately one and a half years and I have noticed a marked improvement in her health and well-being over that time. She is very happy at Bishopsteignton House and has settled in well. Part of the appeal of the home is the small size - there
are only about thirty residents at any one time which makes the place feel like a big family rather than a faceless institution. The staff are amazing and seem to have a genuine affection for the residents. Nothing is too much trouble and a sense of happiness pervades the house. The gardens and wonderful views are a bonus! My mother and I are both so pleased that she was able to get a place at Bishopsteignton House and couldn't think of a better place.

My auntie came into Bishopsteignton House in September 22 after a very bad fall and a stay in the hospital which then resulted in an (unsafe discharge) back to her home from the hospital with Covid. It was clear as soon as she came home that she needed respite care and recuperation from a dedicated
team of professionals and how lucky was she that Bishopsteignton House could take her. I strongly believe that if it wasn't for the care and compassion of the staff and the surroundings, I would have lost my auntie.
The care home has a brilliantly dedicated team of people that really do care for the individuals that are staying with them. They take the time to get to know people, and you can tell as soon as you walk in there is a real caring atmosphere.
The rooms and surroundings are exceptionally clean and tidy, and according to my auntie, she cannot fault the food in any way.

I felt compelled to write a review for the incredible care my grandad received at Bishopsteignton House Care Home. My grandad who, at 96, had always been fit and well and unfortunately started to deteriorate rapidly at his home. He started having a lot of falls and was becoming confused. After a lot
of careful consideration, we decided to take him to this home and it turned out to be the best decision we made. The care he received from day one was wonderful. He was a bit worried but that didn't stop him settling into a little routine, making friends with the carers and residents alike and joining in on all the activities. He is happy and thriving and I want to thank the staff for all that they do.

I have been a resident here for nearly six months. In that time my health, well-being but mainly my self-esteem has been given back to me. Bishopsteignton House Care Home is one of, if not, the finest residential care homes I have had the pleasure of knowing (and the last six months living in). The
carers are the most wonderful, compassionate, hardworking people I have ever come across. We have lots of laughs and it is part of a big family. The catering is excellent and the two chefs are very accommodating regarding dietary needs, bravo!

My overall experience with the staff and organisation of Bishopsteignton House has been of a team of patient and caring people who, despite the publicity surrounding the care sector generally, seem to evince a level of interest and dedication beyond what one could confidently expect. Not all the residents
are respectful of their situation and demonstrate a level of awkwardness that must sometimes be difficult to tolerate but I have never seen or heard anything other than patience and understanding from the staff members.

I had a social distanced visit with my grandma in the garden. She looked really well and happy. The staff are very good with how they are coping with the pandemic. They made sure Grandma had her mask on and we sat behind a perspex screen. We also had our mask on.
Grandma was telling us about the fantastic
cook they have who makes beautiful cakes.
I know my grandma is being well looked after.

Bishopsteignton House is a beautiful building with stunning views. The care that my sister receives is excellent. The staff, from the manager to the cleaners are excellent, so kind and caring. My sister always looks well and happy. The staff are doing a great job.

At this frightening time, I would like to say how well the staff at Bishopsteignton House have coped. They have gone above and beyond in keeping their residents safe. My Mum came to Bishopsteignton house in June, she has been very happy here, staff are really helpful and kind, with COVID they have been very helpful in taking Mum in her wheelchair so we are able to see her, and on her 97th birthday they went all out and put table and chairs outside of her window for
us all to visit her, they made lovely sandwiches cake and pots of tea, Mum loved it, amazing care, Thank you all from us girls.

My 97-year-old Mum was transferred to Bishopsteignton House after spending 2 weeks in hospital following surgery for a fractured hip.
From the moment of her arrival, she was made to feel welcome and safe.
She has now been in there for 6 weeks.
During this time the care she has received has been excellent.
Nothing has been too much trouble and she has only had to ask for anything that she needs.
Two weeks ago it was her 97th birthday. With the COVID-19 situation we as a family were stumped for ideas as to how we could celebrate this birthday.
Bishopsteignton House to the rescue! They very kindly provided a light buffet set up on a table the in garden outside the window of her room. She was thrilled as were we.
Mum is now seriously considering making Bishopsteignton House her home and if this is what she wants then as a family we have every confidence in the care she will receive.

My grandma is well looked after in this lovely home. The staff are very caring and working so hard at keeping my grandma safe as well as the other residents. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. They keep us up to date with any information. My grandma sounds happy when we speak to her on the phone.
She speaks very highly of all the staff.

I have only recently came to live here at Bishopsteignton House but I have been made to feel so welcome. The staff are so kind and helpful. I am able to speak to my daughters through the window. It is so lovely to see them.
The food is excellent and there is always a lovely smell of freshly baked cakes
each day.

My mother and stepfather moved into Bishopsteignton House in January 2019. They were immediately made welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. From bringing personal items from home, paintings and furniture, to organising hair and chiropody appointments, all done in house. They desperately wanted
to be together, and shared a beautifully appointed double room with a private bathroom, overlooking the gardens. Afternoons: activities, including making crafts, indoor skittles, weekly quizzes and singalongs. Lunch is served in the dining room, where they enjoyed a homemade lunch. Pops favourite is always the puddings and homemade cake served in the afternoons. Sadly, mum passed away in October 2019, after a long illness. The love, care and compassion showed by the staff and management has been phenomenal. We really feel part of the Bishopsteignton House family. They continue to care for Pops, and support myself, which I am truly grateful. I can’t thank them enough.
