Bishopsteignton House

Mum is now seriously considering making Bishopsteignton House her home and if this is what she wants then as a family we have every confidence in the care she will receive.

My grandma is well looked after in this lovely home. The staff are very caring and working so hard at keeping my grandma safe as well as the other residents. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. They keep us up to date with any information. My grandma sounds happy when we speak to her on the phone. She speaks very highly of all the staff.

Even though home is the best place, I know I'm in good hands here. The staff are kind and the food is good. My room is very comfortable. I am only here short term but if I had to choose a home it would be Bishopsteignton House.

The food is excellent and there is always a lovely smell of freshly baked cakes each day.

My mother and stepfather moved into Bishopsteignton House in January 2019. They were immediately made welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. From bringing personal items from home, paintings and furniture, to organising hair and chiropody appointments, all done in house. They desperately wanted to be together, and shared a beautifully appointed double room with a private bathroom, overlooking the gardens. Afternoons: activities, including making crafts, indoor skittles, weekly quizzes and singalongs. Lunch is served in the dining room, where they enjoyed a homemade lunch. Pops favourite is always the puddings and homemade cake served in the afternoons. Sadly, mum passed away in October 2019, after a long illness. The love, care and compassion showed by the staff and management has been phenomenal. We really feel part of the Bishopsteignton House family. They continue to care for Pops, and support myself, which I am truly grateful. I can’t thank them enough.

I am able to wave to her at the window and she has always got a smile on her face. When we were allowed to go in I was always made to feel welcome and I'm looking forward to the day when I can join her again for a cup of tea and homemade cake.

Mum has been living in Bishopsteignton House for four years. When she moved in, it was so good to see her relax and enjoy life again. She appreciates the home comforts: good food, lovely room and friendly faces. Our family has been impressed at the high standards demonstrated throughout. We know Mum is happy and most of all, she has stopped worrying about how she would manage. This anxiety had been an issue for her for years and we were not able to alleviate it. I know she would not be with us now if she hadn't had the good luck to get a place when she needed it. And now, as care homes deal with the worst possible medical crisis this country has seen in a century, we see how the excellent team have worked so hard - professional and efficient and always cheerful and friendly. I am so glad Mum has been protected and cared for so well. We are all grateful and confident that she could not be in better hands. Management at all levels have communicated in an exemplary way during the crisis.

Both Mum and I are very lucky to have found such a "home from home" establishment.

I have a very comfortable room and I am able to have some of my own furniture so it feels more like home. The care staff are excellent and have coped extremely well at this very difficult time. They are always so cheerful. The home-cooked food is very nice. The home has a beautiful garden.

I live at Bishopsteignton house and I enjoy my life here. We have recently not been able to see our families which is hard but the manager and staff have been so good at keeping our spirits up. The food is good and I can lead my life the way I wish. Staff have been marvellous over this time, spending much needed time in our company making us smile.

The food is lovely and the home has a warm homely feel to it.

I live at Bishopsteignton House and have a lovely room. We have not been having visitors for a while and the staff have really tried extra hard to keep us all cheerful. They work extremely hard without complaint. I’m a vegetarian which I was worried about coming here but they make sure I have a good choice.

The food is very good and there is always a choice.

I came here with my wife, who has sadly past away now. The staff were so good to her, and continue to look after me very well too. I especially enjoy our activities afternoons. The food is plentiful, and I have some good friends here too. I have recently been unwell, and it was so lovely to come home once more to my new family.

The chefs are very good and friendly; I enjoy the food they prepare because it's all home-cooked food.

I live at Bishopsteignton House and enjoy my days here. The care is good and I really enjoy the activities in the afternoons. We have beautiful gardens that I make the most of in the summer.

Mum and Dad moved to Bishopsteignton House in July 2019. The transition, potentially difficult, was made with relative ease and facilitated by the ‘can-do’ attitude of the management team coupled with the empathy, care and consideration shown by all staff. Mum and Dad now readily call Bishopsteignton House their home. The general atmosphere, sponsored by management, senior carers and staff - is committed, professional and caring – and also homely and compassionate. Whilst the environment is secure and well-monitored [day and night] both the ‘public spaces’ and individual rooms are clean, warm and homely. The food is excellent, the afternoon cake wonderful and ‘special events’ [eg the Summer Fete] are great fun. Staff are motivated by an evident sense of purpose and there appears an all-important continuity here. Since moving, Mum and Dad have become physically and mentally stronger - this due to the care and commitment of staff and the atmosphere created and sponsored by management.

Mum has been at Bishopsteignton House for fifteen months now and in that time she has always been treated with respect and kindness. The staff are without exception caring, friendly and professional and in our experience always have the best interests of the resident at heart. The home is warm, comfortable and well maintained. The food is excellent and we have enjoyed eating there ourselves! We have every confidence in Bishopsteignton House and are reassured that Mum is receiving the kind of compassionate and sympathetic care we would wish for her.

Choosing a home for a loved one can be a very traumatic experience. Feelings of guilt and letting your loved one down comes to mind. When my husband and myself first visited Bishopsteignton house, we instantly liked what we saw and could feel a lovely warm friendly atmosphere. It was like home from home, down to the lovely smell of baking.

Every member of staff we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. The manager was very caring and approachable. Sadly mum passed away and her individual care was excellent to the end. She was treated with love, care and dignity.
