Mum has been here for a few weeks since leaving hospital and the care has been excellent. The home is beautifully maintained, with lots of personal touches that make it homely. The staff are friendly, helpful, cheerful and go out of their way to build relationships. The care manager is always available and has been wonderful at guiding us through this process. Most of all our mum feels happy, safe + secure here.

My dad's sight was failing, and he could no longer care for Mum, so they came to Mallands together. Mum and Dad's rooms are opposite, they enjoy lots of activities, morning and afternoon exercises, visiting animals, visiting musical entertainers, and quizzes. They have a TV in Dad's room, and there is a paved garden to walk around. The carers at Mallands are always cheerful and helpful! If I telephone, the carers will take the phone on speaker to their room. Mum and Dad enjoy home cooked meals, morning coffee, afternoon tea and cake, and supper. There are plenty of snacks. Mallands is clean, bright and cheerful and smells clean and fresh.

I cannot praise the team at Mallands Care highly enough. After being a resident for six months, my mum's health has improved hugely. The lovely carers have taken time to make mum feel safe but not too fussed over. Mum has recently relaxed into a cheerful routine and enjoys her meals in the dining room and also joining in with activites music and singing in the day room. Quite a transformation.

A very friendly home with lovely, caring and enthusiastic staff. My mother felt very safe and well looked after.
One thing she thought could be improved was introduction of new residents to the other residents.

The management were very helpful and flexible within what was possible.

My uncle spent the last six and a half years at Mallands. The staff have been fantastic throughout, showing care, friendliness and joy while fulfilling their tasks in a very professional way. It is a home from home where there is an atmosphere of fun, joy and happiness but with gentleness and patience whenever needed. The care and support of family members has been wonderful. I couldn't recommend better.

I am extremely pleased with the care my mum is receiving at Mallands Care Home. She always looks well cared for and is very contented. Residents are looked after like family. Staff are always ready to talk with residents and relatives, always with a friendly smile. Communication between staff and relatives is very good, I couldn't wish for my mum to be living in a more comfortable, caring and safe environment.

Review from B T (Friend of Resident) published on 24 February 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Our neighbour has been at Mallands for over a year now. She has lived on her own for many years and has found it difficult to adapt to Multi Occupied Living. However we have visited at least once a week, and often twice a week, we have been impressed with the compassion and care taken by most of the staff to help her settle in. She has not been the most compliant resident, but the staff and management have gone beyond their normal duties to accommodate her often odd requests. The have encouraged her to join some of the organised activities with some success. I would not hesitate to recommend Mallands to others.

Review from Peter S (Husband of Resident) published on 12 February 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My wife has been a resident of Mallands for 4 1/2 years with advanced Alzheimer's disease. In all that time she has received excellent care from an also excellent staff. She can't talk or walk but is obviously very settled in the home and relaxed too. I am kept well informed any of issues and my children are well pleased with the treatment of their beloved mother. I am very happy to recommend Mallands to their relatives in the similar position as it was to me when I made enquiries in locality.

I'm Simon, and my mum has been here for respite for the last week. I was very worried on leaving her because it's like taking your children to school for the first time, but how wrong I was. The staff were fantastic, friendly, and comforting. The home manager was an absolute star and very accommodating. Excellent. Mum will be coming back again for sure.

My mother-in-law became a resident at Mallands a few years ago and her, and our experience has been excellent. All the staff are so connected with the residents, they know who wants to do what. I can't fault the staff on any area of care. My mother-in-law was in safe hands & loved from the day she arrived until the day she died.

I am able to visit twice yearly only, because I live out of the country. Every time I visit I am impressed by the continued professionalism, human warmth and kindness. I am impressed by the continuity of staffing over the past three years and the fact that staff know my mum so well, and deliver this care with affection and respect. The receptionist is exceptionally kind and helpful when I phone from Canada - and do their best to put Mum 'on the line'.

Both my parents moved into Mallands recently - we have found the home to be very easy to deal with + they provide a very caring environment. I am pleased that I do not have to now worry about my parents falling over + not being able to get up or be injured + not ask to get help.

Mum is always ready for her visitors we generally visit before lunch and she's fresh and chatty, we usually give her coffee which she enjoys still.

Sadly she's confined to her room as her condition requires her to be bed bound. Consistent staff is a huge benefit as they are familiar to her and thats very important.

Mallands is a clean, comfortable, caring and very pleasant place to live. The staff have all been lovely people and mum has felt safe + cared for since she came to live. The food is excellent quality and tea + coffee are always available. My only comment is that ideally there would be more regular, targeted, stimulating activities for the residents, so there are never days when nothing much happens. But the activities that do happen are fun, or interesting, or relaxing. I think the staff really do their best.

My mother and father arrived at Mallands in November 2024. Care Manager and her staff carefully and very kindly dealt with this difficult transition. Lately my father passed away he was treated with dignity until the very end. Everyone has been compassionate and supportive and helped my mother and family deal with her/our grief.
