Southlands staff and manager have been sympathetic to my father and mother's needs over the past couple of years and more recently, given support o my father and family during the period before my mother's death and indeed afterwards.

The home is very clean, nice views and surroundings. The carers are doing a wonderful job with a smile. Always found time to talk to you and the resident informing you of updates of the resident's health and well being.

Overall Experience
Our mother went to Southlands aged 99 when she was no longer able to care for herself.
She was treated as an individual and encouraged to be herself.
She was allowed to have her own furniture, pot plants on a patio accessible from the room and a bird feeder outside the window.
She was there for 6 months and the unwilling loss of her independence led her to be, at times, uncooperative with the staff.
Despite this, the care and attention she received throughout the 6 months until she died was exemplary.
She was treated with respect and dignity.
Staff continued to offer her food and drink even when she resisted the offers and to respect her dignity.
When she weakened and was close to death, family members were accommodated and looked after with considerable sympathy.
The owner and manager set a standard of care and humanity which permeates the home.
All staff, whatever their role, see themselves as part of a team helping and supporting residents.
It is difficult to see how the service our mother received could have been improved.

We have nothing but praise for Southlands and all the staff.

Review from Sheena S (Power of Attorney of Resident) published on 16 February 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The gentleman for whom I was an attorney was a resident from May 2016 until he passed away in January. The care that he received was exemplary at every stage.

He was treated with respect, dignity, thoughtfulness and as an individual at all times, even when his condition made this sometimes testing for his carers.

His accommodation was very comfortable, of a high standard and well maintained - he had lovely views of the gardens and it had a homely and personal feel to it. All members of our family were always made most welcome by the staff.

I wouldn’t hesitate in giving Southlands the highest possible recommendation.

From the first moment we walked in the door, we knew we had found the place for our dear friend. All the staff were friendly and welcoming.
The owner has a hands-on approach and appears to know all the residents well.
He is popular with staff and residents which makes for a warm, friendly and very supportive atmosphere throughout.

Many fun activities are organised and enjoyed by residents and relatives.
