The home is located in a residential area of Plympton with nearby access to Plymouth with local shops located a short walking distance from the home. The home boasts a varied activities programme with lots to do but also quiet spaces for those that prefer. Bedrooms are a range of sizes with different facilities and welcome individuals in making the room their own.

I chose Plymbridge House as my mum had to move from a hospice and required continued palliative care.
Plymbridge House had been included as part of the six steps programme and on my initial visit, I was overwhelmed with the amount of detail and attention. Paying specific attention to the end of life
care.
I would highly recommend Plymbridge House. My experience with my mum was outstanding in every respect, genuine love, attention and care were given at all times.
A wonderful experience at such a sad time, until mum passed away.

On arriving with my mum, we were a bit worried. You hear so many bad things about some nursing homes. From the time we were first met we were all made very welcome. All the staff can't do enough and the care they have given my mum was exceptional. Whatever my mum wanted, she got and nothing was too
much trouble. Mum really enjoyed the food. Mum was there over the Christmas period and was able to enjoy carols, a Christmas party and even a present from Santa! Again, I can't praise them enough from the manager down to the cleaners. A well-run nursing home - Well done!

My nana was a resident at Plymbridge House for 6 years. The staff were like a second family to her and the care given over the years was excellent. My nana spent the last 5 years bedbound and was given comfort and care for the last 12 months of her life as she became so frail.
Considering her age when
she passed away at 91 years old, she never had any pressure sores or wounds. There were no complaints about being mistreated by staff and myself and my family cannot thank and praise the staff for the care and compassion shown to her.

My mother spent the last six years of her life at Plymbridge House. During that time she was very well looked after, the staff always friendly and caring. Unfortunately for her, she was confined to bed for almost five years but this was never a problem. During the last week of her life, we were able
to come and go at any time of the day, the staff were wonderful to mum and us as a family. AN OUTSTANDING HOME!!

My mother has been a resident in Plymbridge House for the past 5 years. The care she has had has been excellent we (my family) cannot fault the compassion support and general care my mother has had during this time. The staff and especially the senior staff and manager have been so professional yet
caring. Sadly my mother has just passed away and we felt so supported by everyone. Nothing was too much trouble right until the end.

When mum arrived at home she was frightened, very nervous, now confident, alert and taking control of her life. On arrival could not walk unaided now walking with aid of frame much more independent resulting in her enjoying taking part in activities getting her life back. This is a result of the work,
interest, caring and interested staff making the home a friendly, contented home for the whole. Would like to thank the work of the staff for giving my brother and myself our mum back - thank you.

Plymbridge House staff have been supportive, caring and considerate to my mother-in-laws needs. They arrange outings and activities. They keep us well informed and ensure we are involved with her care plan. We are very pleased with the service the care home provides and would recommend there highly.

On the whole I find Plymbridge House friendly and welcoming. The staff always update me regarding the health of mum. Whether she's brighter or has an off day. They continue to observe their needs, and try their best to keep up with activities etc. The lady who organises the activities does an excellent
job, keeping up with special days such as Easter and Christmas, with decorating the home and making it very inviting and cheerful and always on hand to answer any questions that I have. At the end of the day those ladies have a very demanding job until all sort of problems which need tact and patience and above all love their job.

The staff are all very caring and sensitive to my mothers needs. The management are also involved in the care and aware of the needs of individual residents. The house is clean and very warm. The house has a wonderful prize winning garden which is very well used by the residents and friends/family whenever
it is warm enough. The spring flowers are already showing their faces and offering a talking point,. The hairdresser keeps mum looking tidy and the activity lady always tries to include mum in whatever is happening.

I have roughly lived here for fourteen years, I've enjoyed my time here. The staff are always friendly. I live quite near my daughter and she comes to see me quite often as its only up the road. I have a lovely room and I love the food here. I go out to dinner with staff and other outings. I enjoy the
garden in the summer, I stay up and watch t.v most evenings it's just like being at home.

My mother has been here for the last 3 years, with Parkinsons and now Dementia and is now receiving end of life care at present, for which as a family we are eternally grateful to know that she is receiving the best possible care with the greatest dignity. The staff here are truly wonderful and a pleasure
to be with despite the difficulty of all the other residents, my mother could not be in better hands than here.

Samantha Humphris

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

As Home Manager and registered nurse, I bring over 14 years of experience across residential care, hospital settings, and community nursing. My journey into care began through family influence and grew into a lifelong passion. I’ve worked my way up through a variety of roles, which gives me a deep respect for every part of the team and the importance each department plays in making a house a home.


I’m passionate about person-centred care and creating a warm, supportive environment where residents are truly known and valued. I’m also a strong advocate for people living with dementia, believing they should be empowered to live well, with meaning, joy, and the freedom to enjoy what they love each day.


My vision is for our home to grow with the needs of our community, providing high-quality, individualised care that reflects the diverse and changing needs of our ageing population. I work closely with families and staff to ensure we build trust, provide reassurance, and create a space where everyone feels safe, connected, and at home.


Outside of work, I’m happiest when spending time with my family and chocolate Labrador, or off on an adventure in my campervan. I’m also a very proud “cool auntie” to a bunch of brilliant nieces and nephews. Whether I’m getting in the sea at the beach, letting them do my hair and makeup, or getting messy baking in the kitchen, making memories with them is one of my greatest joys.
