Just a short walk from Poole Park and close to the town centre, Kingland House offers residential care in a friendly and homely setting. With the seaside charm of Sandbanks and Poole Quay nearby, the location combines peaceful living with strong community connections – but it’s the warm atmosphere inside Kingland House that truly stands out.

The home features several inviting communal spaces to suit different preferences – a lively area for group activities and a quieter lounge for those who prefer a more relaxed pace. The dining room opens into a bright conservatory, providing lovely views of the accessible gardens all year round, with the option to step outside and enjoy the sunshine when the weather allows.

Each day is thoughtfully planned to bring meaning and enjoyment. The activities team delivers a varied programme – from live music and movement to creative arts and themed events. Outings to local attractions and visits from community groups are also a regular part of life at Kingland House.

Mealtimes are a highlight, with freshly prepared meals cooked on site and tailored to suit individual tastes and dietary needs. A popular dessert trolley is often the talk of the table, especially among those with a sweet tooth.

Residents are encouraged to bring personal items to help make their room feel like home from day one. A friendly and supportive team is available to answer any questions or arrange a visit.

My mum has been living at Kingland House since September 2024 following her Alzheimer's diagnosis, and the care she receives has been outstanding. She is genuinely happy, has gained weight, and more often than not has a smile on her face. Although she doesn't always fully understand the afternoon games,
the staff take the time to support her and ensure every resident feels included and able to succeed. There is a full programme of activities each day, which keeps her engaged and gives real structure to her time.
Overall, I'm incredibly grateful for the kindness, patience, and dedication shown by the whole team.

Taken in the round my sister is very happy with the care she receives and with the staff who provide it at every level. She feels that the choice of room is the right one for her. She has some limitations on her food preferences but appreciates the efforts made to meet those. She has mixed views on
aspects of the activities and entertainment; subject of course to her personal taste. She is nonetheless very impressed with the principal member of staff leading on that. I would add that we consider the staff perform a very challenging role mostly with great care and sensitivity and should be commended.

When it became too much for mum to manage at home and needed to move into care, we looked around several care homes which all seemed okay until we looked at Kingland house. A bit like buying a house, you instantly get a good feeling when you find the right one. The staff were all so welcoming and helpful,
especially Maxine. Mum settled in so much better and quicker than we expected. She has a routine and there is always something going on to keep everyone entertained from singers to activities. I would certainly recommend Kingland house to anyone needing a caring friendly home that will allow them to enjoy being themselves.

My Father has been given the best care. All staff have shown compassion, at all times. The staff have all been very friendy to us as well as my Dad.
The home is always clean and tidy.
My Fathers welfare has always been a high priority.
I can not thank them enough, for all they do.

My wife's health makes it very difficult to take her out of the care home. The staff are always willing to change her incontinence pad and do what is necessary to make it possible for me to take her into the nearby park or shopping centre, in her wheelchair.
The staff invited me to have Christmas
lunch with her. We shared our experience with another couple, one of whom was a resident. The care home provided wine, beer, crackers and music as well as a traditional meal and a vegetarian option. Also, Judith was given the opportunity to give me a Christmas card so that she would not feel embarrassed when I gave her a Christmas card.
The staff are invariably bright and cheerful and seem to find time to help whenever needed. There is always some form of entertainment or activity in the afternoon.
If I have to live in a care home in the years to come, I hope it's this one.

Mum has always been very happy at Kingland House. She initially went for respite care and after 10 days never wanted to go home and be alone again. She likes to sit in the lounge during the day with other residents. They often have singers or chair exercises. They also have regular visits from a specially
trained dog. The staff organise various games too which keeps Mum well entertained. Knowing she's well catered for and happy makes me happy.

Since her arrival in January, 2023 my wife has settled in very well at Kingland House and gets on well with the staff. Her aphasia means that she has difficulty in expressing her wishes, but overall she gets by with the help of the staff. I find the staff and management helpful and amenable to
suggestions.

Efficient and caring with excellent communication to family. Good range of activities and efforts made to provide individualised care in the context of a large care home. Great location next to Poole park and a lovely garden which residents can freely use. Special thanks to Maxine.

The resident for whom we are responsible is receiving excellent care.
Previous issues with personal care have been dealt with kindly resulting in a improvement in general health.
I am impressed with how staff deal with any likes and dislikes.
Options are always carefully and clearly explained when
an action or choice is required.
The entertainment programme is varied and includes exercises.
This general environment has encouraged interaction which had previously been missing.
We are always advised of any issues which may arise.
All staff I have met and spoken to are open, helpful and caring.

When I moved my wife into Kingland House I had various problems with her. This made for a 'messy' transition from my point. It was not made clear enough, to me, that I should have left her there, and not return for a few days. Had I fully understood I would have tried to comply, but realistically it
still would have been a problem.

The staff have been excellent, and I am certain that my wife will settle down soon, but I feel that I may have inadvertently caused a problem for them. For this, I apologise.

My mother has often been left in her room until late morning before being dressed and taken to the lounge. This has left her feeling very isolated and has started to regret her decision to move into the home. Whilst I appreciate there are issues about her toileting requirements I still feel that she
needs to be in the lounge earlier in the morning.

She has also made comments that although most of the staff are kind there are some, mostly male, that are not very gentle when attending her needs.

However apart rom the above comments I have always been pleased with the appearance of the home and the entertainment provided although my mother in her elderly state cannot take advantage of what is on offer.

The staff at Kingland house have gone above and beyond to support my 86 year old mother who arrived with quick onset of dementia and bed bound. She was a challenge for the team to meet her high needs but they have shown genuine care and compassion, patience and a willingness to help my mother be as
comfortable as possible at this stressful moment and stage of life. Thank you. I am utterly grateful and relieved my mum is there at this point and my father can finally look after himself at home.

My dad is happy and well looked after by the continuing care and support received by the staff on every level. I cannot express enough how the kindness and support that the staff give my Dad makes such a difference to his overall mental and physical health. Despite having a number of health issues that
are debilitating and progressive, he looks better than before he became a resident 18 months ago. Most importantly, he is settled and happier, and feels safe and comfortable. Thank you, everyone, for making this happen, and giving back some quality of life to Dad.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.791)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.791) out of 10 for Kingland House Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.791 for Kingland House Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (243 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 301 Ratings = 4.791
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingland House Residential Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
