Just a short walk from Poole Park and close to the town centre, Kingland House offers residential care in a friendly and homely setting. With the seaside charm of Sandbanks and Poole Quay nearby, the location combines peaceful living with strong community connections – but it’s the warm atmosphere inside Kingland House that truly stands out.

The home features several inviting communal spaces to suit different preferences – a lively area for group activities and a quieter lounge for those who prefer a more relaxed pace. The dining room opens into a bright conservatory, providing lovely views of the accessible gardens all year round, with the option to step outside and enjoy the sunshine when the weather allows.

Each day is thoughtfully planned to bring meaning and enjoyment. The activities team delivers a varied programme – from live music and movement to creative arts and themed events. Outings to local attractions and visits from community groups are also a regular part of life at Kingland House.

Mealtimes are a highlight, with freshly prepared meals cooked on site and tailored to suit individual tastes and dietary needs. A popular dessert trolley is often the talk of the table, especially among those with a sweet tooth.

Residents are encouraged to bring personal items to help make their room feel like home from day one. A friendly and supportive team is available to answer any questions or arrange a visit.

My mother is very well looked after at Kingland House Residential Home. Several different members of staff check to see if she needs anything during the day and nothing is too much trouble.
There are plenty of activities for residents to participate in should they wish.
There is also a lovely garden
to sit in whilst the weather is good and both residents and visitors are welcome to use it.

Unfortunately due to a life-changing illness, my grandfather is no longer able to live independently at home. It was a difficult decision to find a care home for him, but I can't fault Kingland House at all. They have done everything possible to encourage my granddad to join in with the many varied
activities and the room he has is kept immaculately clean. The staff area is always friendly, smiling and very welcoming. I honestly can say I have peace of mind that he is being well cared for and it's nice to see all the photos etc. on the social media channels. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home whether it's for rest bite or on a more permanent basis. The location of the home is perfect for a walk to the park or into town.

The staff were friendly, helpful and competent. We always felt that Dad was being well cared for. We were impressed that residents always left their rooms to eat in the dining room, regardless of how much effort it took.

My mum has been a resident at Kingland House for just over 3 years. She arrived very unwell and anxious but with kindness, patience and good care, her health and wellbeing slowly returned. I visit weekly and have been lucky enough to join in with chair exercises, I’ve had a game of bingo, I’ve also
seen many different singers while visiting. Kingland House share a lot of photos on social media of the residents enjoying the activities and outings. It’s lovely to see the residents having fun. The location of Kingland House is perfect for a walk into town, Poole Quay or Poole Park. There is always a wheelchair available to use.

Very grateful for the level of attention and professionalism demonstrated by all the staff. If we raise queries, they are dealt with very quickly. Good level of care and understanding about issues arising for someone with dementia. Good link up with local GP. Garden is lovely and so well maintained.
Thanks to everyone.

The staff, cleaners and entertainment staff are very friendly and professional in everything they do. My mum is bedbound and when we ask them to come in and see to her, they are there quickly and nothing is too much trouble. They are all hard-working and caring individuals and a special mention to the
receptionist at the door - she is always polite and she has to keep getting up to let us in and out. Thank you Kingland House, my mum is well cared for and it puts the family's mind at rest.

My mum has been in Kingland House for a few years with dementia. It’s the wonderful care from the staff and amazing carers that she is so comfortable and all her needs taken care of.
They keep me informed of any changes or concerns and there is never an issue if I want to see her. I live a long way
from the care home and they understand this and accommodate my visits to see her. It’s a lovely kind, caring, compassionate home. There are always things happening to stimulate the residents. Unfortunately, my mum can’t join in these but it’s lovely that others can. I used to worry constantly about her, but I know she has the best care from the home and her needs are met.

My mother-in-law has been in Kingland House for a couple of years and is very happy there.
If I have had any issues, they have been sorted quickly.
All the staff at Kingland House are very helpful and friendly.
The only downside I would say is that some of the meetings or events are during the working
day, and as we work, we are not able to attend.
As long as mum is happy, then the family is happy.
Many thanks to all at Kingland House.

The care given to my mother-in-law continues to be excellent. On my last visit to the home, I was struck by the level of professionalism exhibited by the staff. I was delighted to see the extra attention to detail to ensure all residents celebrated Christmas.

My sister has lived in the home for some years and is very happy living there. She feels well cared for and enjoys the routine. She feels that she has a good rapport with the staff, which is wonderful. She particularly enjoys the in-house activities, especially the entertainers. She loves her meal times
and the food choices. I always feel that the home has a great team of staff, receptionists, activities organisers, cleaners, kitchen staff, maintenance, carers and managers, they will always go out of their way to help and nothing is too much trouble.

I have only got the highest of praise for this care home, my mother has been a resident for nine months and she is happy! The staff are friendly, helpful and provide excellent care. The house itself has a good atmosphere, food is good, lovely gardens and there is always lots going on for the residents.

The staff I have dealt with seem caring and do a good job. Clothes go missing and the resident's hearing aids have been lost on two occasions. Although she does take them out I have asked that before she is moved to check that her hearing aids are located. Often dead batteries in the aids and she is
sat not being able to hear.

A Queen's Jubilee party was organised for residents, in the lovely gardens (if wet in the conservatory!). I think nearly every resident was out in the garden which was lovely to see and visitors aplenty which, after the last 2 years, was a joy. Great effort was put in from every member of staff from
kitchen, cleaning, reception and the caregiving staff. Really nice atmosphere with lovely touches like an ice cream cart and jubilee hats and flags, with songs that stirred the memory banks. My mother stayed in the sunshine for a full 3 hours which was lovely for her and me! And this really seemed to raise her mood and memory. She enjoyed the lovely tea party with cream scones and cupcakes. I saw how the staff treat residents and their colleagues, like a little family and this makes it a special caring place.

My dad moved into the home in February 2022. He is deaf, partially sighted and has mobility issues. We were worried about him moving in as he is incredibly clever but due to his physical issues he could be overlooked. He is also very easy going and won’t demand any attention. However, the team are
lovely with him and he has settled in well. He loves the team, the food, the garden area and his room. We are very grateful to see him happy as he has lived independently until now but at the age of 94, he needs additional support.

Mother-in-law has been at Kingland House Residential Home for just over 4 years. She is happy there and never complains. Her room is nice and she has plenty of space. There is a good amount of entertainment which she generally joins in. She particularly liked the trips out which are still suspended
which is a shame. Hopefully, they will start again soon. There were some difficulties during Covid lockdowns and restrictions when checks on room contents/clothing and personal essentials were rare but that has been resolved. Admin staff are helpful. The cost has increased substantially over the past 2 years - I hope that will not continue. I do feel that self-funders are taken advantage of financially - I doubt social care residents are charged anywhere near her costs!

My mother has been a resident for 5 years now. During this time I have been totally satisfied that her care needs have been fully delivered. The atmosphere within the home is very relaxed and extremely friendly. Communication with all the staff is very easy and open. Activity organisation is excellent
and caters for the wide range of resident abilities. The standard of catering offered is to an extremely high standard with varied menus and is delivered in a very sunny and well-placed restaurant. I fully recommend Kingland House Residential Home as a top class care provider.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.791)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.791) out of 10 for Kingland House Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.791 for Kingland House Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (243 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 301 Ratings = 4.791
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingland House Residential Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
