This was our first experience of respite care and having been let down by another home, Kingland welcomed us with open arms. All the staff we came into contact with were marvellous and really looked after my husband, often staying to chat. There was a lot of laughter which was so important. We can only say thank you for being so fab. We will return!

Reply from Ellen Cattell, Manager at Kingland House Residential Home

Thankyou for your wonderful review, it really is important that our staff know what a great job they do. I will pass over your kind words. As you know you are always welcome back, we look forward to more laughs in the future.

In the 3 years my dad has been in Kingland House he has always been treated with the utmost respect and the care he receives is impeccable. Everyone, even the cook, cares about his welfare. He is always treated with dignity and is very happy there. The activities are varied and interesting including excellent outings for the residents. The staff are extremely caring going above and beyond their duties when needed and are always ready to offer any support or reassurance to relatives if needed. I really can't fault the care my dad receives and all the kindness he has from all the staff.

Mum is very happy here. She is quite independent and staff are very understanding and allow her the freedom to go out and about as she pleases whilst keeping a watchful eye. The staff are great, cheerful and caring.

I just wish there was not so much paperwork. Mum complains that the staff are always writing and recording and don't have the time to chat. This isn't their fault obviously.

Overall Experience

My father was a resident in the home for 2 short stays. He felt at home and comfortable well supported by the staff to get the most out of his life. The family felt the staff were attentive and friendly at all times. We thought there was a very good atmosphere in the place, the management was very organised, the staff were attentive but also encouraged everybody to do as much as they were able for themselves.

Review from Anthony G (Cousin of Resident) published on 19 October 2015 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My cousin, who was totally immobile, was provided with a light airy room with pleasant outdoor views. All staff including those in reception knew her name and her likes and dislikes. She was treated with great respect and every attempt was made to ensure that she was comfortable. The food was very well presented with the additional provision of mid-morning and afternoon snacks, and supper.

Although my cousin was not robust enough to visit the communal rooms every effort was made to ensure that she had an opportunity to chat. A variety of staff took time to visit her room to engage her in general conversation. The nursing was excellent and there was always a genuine concern for her comfort and well-being. At key moments in her stay I was always well briefed on the situation. In conclusion I was always confident that my cousin was receiving the best of care and attention and I have nothing but praise for the home.
