Just a short walk from Poole Park and close to the town centre, Kingland House offers residential care in a friendly and homely setting. With the seaside charm of Sandbanks and Poole Quay nearby, the location combines peaceful living with strong community connections – but it’s the warm atmosphere inside Kingland House that truly stands out.

The home features several inviting communal spaces to suit different preferences – a lively area for group activities and a quieter lounge for those who prefer a more relaxed pace. The dining room opens into a bright conservatory, providing lovely views of the accessible gardens all year round, with the option to step outside and enjoy the sunshine when the weather allows.

Each day is thoughtfully planned to bring meaning and enjoyment. The activities team delivers a varied programme – from live music and movement to creative arts and themed events. Outings to local attractions and visits from community groups are also a regular part of life at Kingland House.

Mealtimes are a highlight, with freshly prepared meals cooked on site and tailored to suit individual tastes and dietary needs. A popular dessert trolley is often the talk of the table, especially among those with a sweet tooth.

Residents are encouraged to bring personal items to help make their room feel like home from day one. A friendly and supportive team is available to answer any questions or arrange a visit.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Mum is very happy here. She is quite independent and staff are very understanding and allow her the freedom to go out and about as she pleases whilst keeping a watchful eye. The staff are great, cheerful and caring.
I just wish there was not so much paperwork. Mum complains that the staff are always
writing and recording and don't have the time to chat. This isn't their fault obviously.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father was a resident in the home for 2 short stays. He felt at home and comfortable well supported by the staff to get the most out of his life. The family felt the staff were attentive and friendly at all times. We thought there was a very good atmosphere in the place, the management was very organised,
the staff were attentive but also encouraged everybody to do as much as they were able for themselves.

Review from Anthony G (Cousin of Resident) published on 19 October 2015 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My cousin, who was totally immobile, was provided with a light airy room with pleasant outdoor views. All staff including those in reception knew her name and her likes and dislikes. She was treated with great respect and every attempt was made to ensure that she was comfortable. The food was very
well presented with the additional provision of mid-morning and afternoon snacks, and supper.
Although my cousin was not robust enough to visit the communal rooms every effort was made to ensure that she had an opportunity to chat. A variety of staff took time to visit her room to engage her in general conversation. The nursing was excellent and there was always a genuine concern for her comfort and well-being. At key moments in her stay I was always well briefed on the situation. In conclusion I was always confident that my cousin was receiving the best of care and attention and I have nothing but praise for the home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.791) out of 10 for Kingland House Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.791 for Kingland House Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (243 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 301 Ratings = 4.791
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingland House Residential Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
