I know that my Mums' every need is met at Highfield. As a family we are welcomed at any time to visit and feel very much part of the Highfield House family. it's a warm, friendly, and safe environment unlike any other care home I've visited. All the staff are warm and respectful , and very professional. Highfield is everything I could have wished for as Mums new home.

My mother has been resident at Highfield House since July 2025. She recieves excellent care tailored to her own needs and desires. It is consistently evident that the staff care about her emotional as well as physical needs and that they care about her as a person as well as us as a family. Their cheerfulness and smiling welcome make it a pleasure to visit, and they have supported me through some difficult times. Over the last 10 years at different periods they have cared for my mother-in-law, my father, and now my mother. I feel confident that she is in the best possible hands.

Mum has been a full time resident since feb 2025, she is well cared for in a safe and welcoming environment. As family members we are made to feel welcome when we visit .
There are daily activities both from internal and external providers.
The accommodation is clean, warm and safe , the food is home made and appetising .
Communication from staff is good and we feel able to speak to staff at any time .
The staff are proactive and reactive to mums care needs and have allowed as a family to reconnect with our mum rather than being carers .

We have no hesitations in recommending highfield house

We have reached the first anniversary at Highfield. It hasn't been an easy year for my mother, a lot of anxiety which she brought with her. A lot of different needs and many many peccadilloes!

Everyone at Highfield has gone to extreme lengths to get her settled and reassured and we have arrived at a situation where she now feels she is home. Embracing the sense of security, the friendly faces, lots of hugs and bits of chat.

The management and staff at Highfield House are outstanding. You know right away that they truely care about their residents and go out of their way to meet their individual needs. My uncle, who does not dole out compliments lightly, repeatedly mentioned how he liked so many of the staff. He also loved the beautiful garden behind the house - it is a haven for residents who love the outdoors, birds singing and flowers.

My husband has been living at Highfield since August 2023. Respite care turned out to be residential care in October of that year when I became very unwell and unable to look after him. He has settled well into the home and told me that he regards himself as being very lucky being there, as indeed I do. He is looked after by the wonderful staff with great care, respect and endless kindness. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. His health is closely monitored and any medical needs promptly acted on. He enjoys the entertainment, particularly the singing and music, among the various activities laid on. He looks forward to the meals which are healthy and nutritious and endless cups of tea! Whenever I visit I am always greeted with a cheery hello and asked after how I am doing, to say nothing of the offer of a coffee and cake or biscuits. It is like being part of a big family and I know he is in very good hands.

Mum has been living in Highfield House since January 2022. She always receives excellent care and is treated with respect, kindness and affection. When seriously ill both the medical and personal care were outstanding.

The house is an older style town house and is like a large family home. There are numerous activities, visiting musicians and outings to local attractions which can be attended if a resident wishes. I can heartily recommend Highfield House to anyone looking for a care home.

I am power of attorney to my aunt, and she has been a resident in Highfield House since July 2024.
She has settled in very well and has received a high standard of care. The staff are caring and attentive to her needs, resulting in both her physical and mental health improving since moving in.

She enjoys the company and the stimulation of having a program of events every month.

This is a small care home so all the residents are very well known to the staff, and residents get to know each other too. The staff are very keen that this is the resident's home and their wishes are completely respected. There are two types of rooms - either in a modern extension overlooking the gardens or in the main house. The standard of care is very good and there are a range of regular activities and trips on offer. The conservatory is a welcome meeting place for friends and relatives and a chance to meet the friendly resident cat, and the grounds and gardens are lovely too. The staff go the extra mile in catering for my mother's special diet and they organise her medical care and take her to appointments. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are easy to get in touch with if needed. The home has a great location on the High Street so it feels part of the community. We are very lucky to have been able to get a place for my mum at Highfield - well cared for, safe and happy.

The Care home is always pleasant to visit, the staff are polite and friendly. All areas are clean and cheerful. Meal times are calm and the food appears nutritious and healthy. The home is cosy and not clinical. Residents are treated with respect and dignity. Weekly activities and meetings are shared with families, communicated via email. Regular health updates are always much appreciated. The Manager is courteous and approachable, experienced and professional. As one of his daughters, I feel confident and comforted that my dad is in the best care home for his needs.

When looking for respite options for my dad in 2022, Highfield stood out for its bright cheerful decor and family feel. The wonderful position at the top of the High St makes it feel part of the community instead of a tucked away institution. Dad was lucky that a garden room became available which suited his requirements well. It was only meant to be for couple of weeks but he soon realised how much he had been struggling so he decided to stay. This is a very well run home where residents are treated as individuals and encouraged but never forced to take part in a full program of activities and outings. The summer garden party (complete with real live unicorn) and Christmas party are unmissable and the staff go to extraordinary lengths to make sure everyone has fun. Nothing is too much trouble. We know he is safe, well cared for and concerns are dealt with immediately. When we visit we are greeted as family, addressed by name and made to feel very comfortable. This was a good decision!

Making the decision to move a relative into a home and choosing a care home is a very difficult and emotional experience. Everyone at Highfield House helped make the process both flexible and easy to manage. They provide a service that ensures every resident is treated as an individual and take steps to make sure they gather lots of information and insights into the resident's previous life to help engage them and make them feel valued. The house acts like a big family home with lovely gardens where my mum is encouraged to get involved in gardening which she loves. They provide lots of entertainment and trips out - fish and chip Friday is quite a favourite. I can recommend Highfield House without reservation my mum is safe and genuinely well cared for.

Highfield House Residential Care Home is such a warm and friendly place with a very large and beautiful garden as well as a smaller garden opposite the garden rooms, which I know the residents in those rooms really love. The food they are given is varied and of good quality and the staff really excel when they make birthday cakes for the residents and also when they have a garden party or Christmas party, amazing choice. They organise people to come in to entertain them which I know they enjoy and also some lovely trips out. My mother absolutely loves it and try's to join in everything. There is a very high standard of cleanliness and the rooms are warm and cosy as well as being stylishly decorated.

I recommend Highfield to anyone I know it is the best I have ever seen. Staff should all be congratulated.

I would highly recommend the care home. Excellent care, that goes above and beyond. Excellent food and courtesy at all times. The staff are unbelievably kind and well trained due to the excellent manager and senior team. The position of Highfield House Residential Care Home is great for easy access with a wheelchair to the town. Its position also has the added bonus of being part of the town, where you can see town events including the Carnival procession, street market and even the primary school Easter Bonnet Parade. The rear of Highfield House Residential Care Home Ltd has a stunning garden overlooking a hill. Please consider Highfield House Residential Care Home Ltd if looking for a care home. You will not be disappointed.

My Aunt has been a resident of Highfield for almost six years now and from the first day has received excellent care and nothing but kindness and empathy from the dedicated staff. The home has an extremely happy and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are always so cheerful and very alert to any needs my aunt may have, whether it be medical or personal in nature. The management holds regular meetings with the residents where any topic can be discussed and if necessary complaints are rectified or suggestions implemented. It was a difficult time during the Covid period but the residents were kept protected and happy at all times. The family all live a distance away and are unable to visit frequently, so it is especially comforting to know that our aunt is receiving the highest quality care and is contented.

From a young age, I knew that my career would be caring for others, and I have worked in social care for 37 years, as I am passionate about ensuring that people receive the care and support they need and want in their everyday lives, as well as serving the community generally.

I studied for 3 years alongside working with the Open University, gaining the Diploma in Health and Social Welfar,e then attended Strode College, gaining an Advanced Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling. My second Diploma, in Leadership for Health and Social Care, was achieved in 2013 whilst working at Highfield House.

I am very lucky to have been approached to work at Highfield House initially as a Care Manager, and then in 2017, I became the Registered Manager for the home. Highfield House is a fantastic place to work with an amazing team of experienced staff, many of whom have been here many years, and I could not be prouder of the excellent care that is continuously provided to every resident.

Providing good quality End-Of-Life Care for people and their loved ones is a particular passion of mine, and I am thrilled to have been recently enrolled on the Somerset Spiritual Care End-of-Life Strategy Group. This will involve working closely with other professionals who are passionate about improving and normalising this area of end-of-life care across the country, to ensure that every aspect of the person's needs and wishes are cared for.
