The Cedars is a care home in Purton that has been servicing the local and wider Wiltshire community for over 30 years. It offers compassionate, individualised residential care for up to forty-nine residents.

The home is set in its own attractive and accessible grounds which includes a patio, summerhouse and enclosed garden to the rear. The Home is situated in a quiet residential area, a short walk from local shops, Library, GP Surgery and the Community Hall.

The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) operates 71 Care Homes and 14 Extra-Care Housing Schemes across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, West Sussex and Suffolk. OSJCT offers service includes residential, dementia, intermediate, respite, day care and specialised nursing.

Funding & Fees

Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.


Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

I had a simple query about the fees and the people who are supposedly in accounts could/would not even listen to my question. They kept saying irrelevant information which wasn’t in any way helpful to the question and have been very rude. I still am no wiser as to why there is a discrepancy, and have
just been told to pay up and shut up! I have never been treated like this in my entire life, my great aunt has complete comprehension and yet she is spoken to like she is an idiot. I can understand how she feels, as this is how they have also spoken to me.

After several months after admission, my mother is very happy and settled.
The staff are very well motivated and nothing is too much trouble.
Even the hunts for aids, glasses and teeth which they carry out with a smile!
My mother has dementia but still enjoys the banter and jokes.
The staff handovers
at shift change are very comprehensive.
Mother has problems choking sometimes.
Specialist speech, language therapists are asked to review her regularly.
Special soft diet has been arranged.
Mum is always appropriately dressed.

The quality of care provided by a home depends largely on the quality of its staff and The Cedars is extremely fortunate.
A warm, friendly and helpful atmosphere is very apparent on arrival and I felt sure that The Cedars would give my mother the care I was hoping for. Real relationships are formed
between staff and residents.
Three members of staff attended my mother's funeral. I think that says a lot.

My father was a resident at The Cedars for 8 months. In the time that he was there, I was very happy with the care he received. We moved him from The Cedars in March as he had very challenging behaviour due to vascular dementia and needed specialised nursing care. As The Cedars is a residential home
his needs could not be met.

My mother has Alzheimer's and has been living at The Cedars for a year now. When I visit she is always happy and contented. The staff are very caring and take the time to listen to suggestions that would make her time more enjoyable for example, types of activities that she enjoys like listening to
music. The food is very good and the cleanliness is excellent. The home is well managed and secure and my mum is treated with dignity, giving me peace of mind.

I have been a resident at The Cedars for nine months and find the staff very caring and helpful. My room is satisfactory, however, unlike newer homes, it lacks an ensuite. The room itself is large and comfortable. The food is generally good and activities are frequently available.

I have been a volunteer for a few months now and I enjoy helping out, doing craft lessons, joining in lots of activities with the residents. All staff members are polite and helpful when I need advice or anything. I am getting some experience to hopefully become a carer myself one day.

Father-in-law has settled in well. The staff are friendly and helpful. If there is a concern they are dealt with swiftly and sympathetically. The home is a bright, clean and cheerful place to be. Always feel very welcome and part of the home's community.

The Cedars appears to be run very well. The staff are all very nice and always seem to have time to listen to any comments we may have. My mum has a lovely room and gets looked after very well. The Cedars is close to dads house, so it means he can visit most days. The family are all very happy with
the Cedars and hope everything stays the same while mum is there.

Our Mother entered the Cedars at the end of January 2016. Sadly mum passed away in April 2016 our first impressions of the Cedars was great. The staff were very warm and welcoming an mum felt at home, also the Carers and Staff were professional, caring, respectful of mums needs and treated her with
dignity.
And I don't want to leave out the kitchen Staff they were wonderful what ever mum wanted for breakfast, lunch, dinner they went out of there way to provide that.
The Cedars and all the Staff and Carers really were awesome, clean rooms, clean bedding. If you are considering or looking into residential care for a loved one I implore you to look into the Cedars at Purton.

From the first visit to the home in October me and my Auntie felt very welcomed all the staff so much so I would be very happy to come here myself if needed. The staff go beyond the call of duty and the home has a lovely atmosphere. Very clean and tidy at all times day and night. Please keep up the

My mother is a resident in the Cedars Care Home, she has been diagnosed with dementia and recently was convinced her room was on the ground floor, but she has lived on the 1st floor for four years. She was so upset about going upstairs again the head of care said they could put mum in a room on the
ground floor if it made her happy, so with the help from head of care, two housekeepers and the maintenance man and myself we moved mum downstairs that very day, mum was so happy she no can sit by her window and look out and see people coming and going. I cant thank the staff enough.

Since moving mother in during mid November, I am amazed at the change in her outlook. She had become very isolated and reclusive. Thanks to the dedication and friendly attitude of the staff she is much happier and content and mixes with others and both talks to them and sings with them.
Prior to moving
in she hasn't been out of her flat for 2 and a half years, now in less than 6 weeks she has attended a local coffee morning and been on a day trip to the garden centre. She even sleeps in a bed now which she hasn't done for 6 years.
'Amazing' thanks to the management and staff for a very caring and professional attitude to care. Top marks, thank you.
