The Cedars is a care home in Purton that has been servicing the local and wider Wiltshire community for over 30 years. It offers compassionate, individualised residential care for up to forty-nine residents.

The home is set in its own attractive and accessible grounds which includes a patio, summerhouse and enclosed garden to the rear. The Home is situated in a quiet residential area, a short walk from local shops, Library, GP Surgery and the Community Hall.

The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) operates 71 Care Homes and 14 Extra-Care Housing Schemes across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, West Sussex and Suffolk. OSJCT offers service includes residential, dementia, intermediate, respite, day care and specialised nursing.

Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.


Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

Generally very good permanent staff but not enough of them. Too much reliance on agency staff - not good. The home needs thoroughly updating, especially the chairs in public rooms. On speaking to staff the morale is very low and staff constantly leave - very bad for residents, you cannot get used to
new members. Too many agency staff. The home manager is gradually improving the home (she has only been there a year). There has been no permanent home manager for two years.

The overall care of our family member is very good and the staff are welcoming, friendly and caring. On occasions we have not been kept fully up to date or informed on our family members health, however this has recently changed for the better (staff shortages and staff changeover times). The staff
worked very hard to provide entertainment and experiences for the residents and have made many changes to the main lounges etc which have improved the experience for the residents and visitors.

Have found the staff to be friendly to my mother and myself. The home is clean overall but there is a need to update and replace chairs in the lounge area and restaurant as they are to easily stained and are difficult to clean and are not kept clean and too old. On the whole permanent staff are very
good but there is too much reliance on agency staff as they don't know the residents they lose the personal touch.

visited on Wednesday and was spoken to by all the caring team and made to feel welcome. My friend was sleepy and in a wheelchair but comfortable I had just been given a cup of tea. After having had a bath she was very tidy and dressed in clean clothes. The breakfast room was clean in the main the chairs
were cleaner but could do with another clean. But this is being addressed.
