Somerhill House Care Home has two buildings on a large site with a field to the south providing expansive views over the vale of Dauntsey. The original historic building has benefited from the addition of a state of the art nursing facility.

The new building has large rooms with generous sized wet rooms. The residents lounge is augmented by a coffee shop/bar and residents can enjoy hair and beauty treatments in their own salon.

The nurse manager and his experienced team ensure the delivery of quality care specifically designed to meet each individual resident's needs.

There are terraces where residents can sit, entertain their visitors, dine and take afternoon tea. The large landscaped gardens can be enjoyed by residents and their families.

The dedicated activities organiser ensures a full programme of varied activities are provided in the home.

Somerhill House recognises the importance of food as a pleasure and also a nutritional aid to nursing care. The experienced chef and the team ensure the delivery of delicious meals with choices and also catering for specialist diets. The chef attends residents meeting where menus are discussed.

My mother has been a resident at Somerhill since September 2023. The experience has been brilliant. The staff have always been cheerful, smiling and always looking out for Mum. Most of my mum's children live in the United States so knowing that she has such a great team that cares for her is very reassuring.
My mum has the great privilege of having siblings and friends visiting frequently and all are welcomed by the Somerhill staff. The grounds are wonderful and Mum loves being out there and playing with her dog when she visits.

My father has been at Somerhill for the past ten months and the care, love and compassion that he has been shown has been second to none. The staff always try to make my dad laugh and it is apparent that his happiness is of the upmost priority to all that care for him. The peace of mind that I get from

Overall experience was good. The staff were friendly, helpful and caring, however, training or new/inexperienced staff could be improved. More attention to dietary requirements and preferences would have helped.

We have a robust in-house training in place for all Cedar Care staff however, we do not do this with the agency staff and this is possibly the staff who may have appeared new/inexperienced. I take on board the reference to the dietary requirements and preferences and will aim to improve this area of the service.

I attended the Summer Garden Party with my father. Despite the rain making frequent appearances, the manager and her staff worked so hard to ensure all the residents had an enjoyable and memorable day. The manager's ‘leaf dance’ will certainly be remembered by residents and staff alike! The care staff
were, as usual, very attentive and thoughtful. Thank you to all staff for your hard work.

My father resided at Somerhill Care Home for five months before he passed. He received the highest level of care, compassion and love from all of the staff. My father suffered with dementia and at first, was very confused about where he was when arriving in the care home. The staff worked tirelessly
to ensure my father felt safe and he believed he was back at home. We shared meals with him in the dinning room which we were able to book on a number of occasions. The grounds have recently undergone a major upgrade with accessible paths, lawn, flowers and seating areas. The home is a lovely place for a loved one.

Each time I visit, there is a lovely atmosphere. All staff are kind and caring with the residents. There is a happy atmosphere. It's well-maintained and clean. The resident I visit speaks very highly of the manager and the staff.

My mother was very happy here, during her fourteen-month stay. She suffered from dementia but they dealt with her arrival with kindness and respect. When we visited we found all staff to be caring and polite and my mother always said goodbye to us with a smile and a wave. We noticed in the months before
she died, the increased activities improved her well-being. Our only criticism would be the design of the bathrooms. The staff were all beautiful people.

My aunt has been at the care home since 2016 and has enjoyed her time there. In the beginning, she was in the old building and then moved to the new one. She enjoyed and partook in all the activities for the first few years. They were excellent, and as far as I know, still are. My aunt was bedridden
for a couple of years and received excellent care. During her final days, her care could not have been better. The staff were compassionate and caring to my aunt and myself. Treated her with dignity and respect throughout. High recommend.

I found my stay at Hill House to be much better than I anticipated. Staff very good; warm, friendly and efficient. I would be willing to return there when necessary. Just wish costs were considered lower, but I am from Yorkshire.

My mother has multiple health problems and the staff at Hill House have been outstanding in their care and concern for her. Everyone is gentle and kind and they keep me informed every day as to what is happening.
My family are very grateful for all their help and our mother couldn’t be in a better
place.

My mother has been well cared for at Hill House for the last nine years. The staff treat the residents as they would treat members of their own family - with love and respect. Hill House have been utterly lovely throughout the pandemic and provided such kind attentive care. It is a delight to see Mum's face light up when the carers come into the room when we are on a video call and gives us such comfort. Whilst it has been heartbreaking not being able to see Mum in person
during the pandemic, we know that Hill House are doing everything correctly and keeping Mum safe, well and happy and we couldn't be more grateful.
