Dad has been a resident of Kingston House for 6 months now. He is very independant and I was worried that he would find it hard to settle. However, he has settled in better than I could ever have hoped. The staff are wonderful and kind. The food is in his words 'better than excellent' and the activities team are wodnerful and he joins with everything.
Thank you for sharing such lovely feedback about your dad's time at Kingston House.
We know how much of a change moving into a care home can be, so it's wonderful to hear that he has settled in even better than you had hoped. It's also fantastic to know he's enjoying the food, joining in with activities and feeling so at home.
Best wishes,Rosa
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kingston House.
Dear TM - thank you very much for your kind words - we'll make sure they are shared with the team. Our goal is to ensure we help people feel good about care in every interaction - this applies to families as much as to residents themselves. We're glad both you and Mum could join the the outing!
They have thought about who she may get on with and sat her near them at meal times. They have made sure she has been kept busy doing quizzes, knit and natter, has been out in the mini bus for a coffee and much more.
We can visit any time and have very quickly been made to feel part of the family.
We had a very useful meeting with the manager and visiting doctor after a week or 2, that helped iron out small details to help my mum settle better and put our mind at rest how she is when we are not there.
She has got her smile back and we can relax as she is in safe, caring hands.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, we are pleased you feel welcomed and part of our Kingston House family. We certainly feel very lucky that Mum has joined us here, with her fabulous sense of humour, she keeps us all smiling too!
Mum is well cared for as her condition is difficult.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review; we greatly value your feedback as it helps us to continually improve our service. We are so happy you feel your Mum is being well cared for and we look forward to seeing you at the home again soon.
Over all Kingston House is a very welcoming friendly atmosphere, with lots of smiles. Lovely to see such a range of activities going on within the home. You can see all the departments with in the home doing what's best for the all the residents. There are at times concerns, which do get dealt with. Communication between home and family there is room for improvement.
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful feedback. We're so pleased to hear that you find Kingston House to be a welcoming and friendly environment, and that the range of activities and dedication across all departments has made a positive impression. We also truly appreciate your...
Good, communication was not very good but is improving. Because husband cannot work often left on his own in dining room. Think sometimes he should be first dealt with, as because of his dementia (Lewy body) he imagines all sorts of things like being attacked. Also lastly is talking about standing up because he has waited long time this is dangerous as he would fall, behind the dementia he is intelligent man and will ultimately try to do it one day.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, feedback is always appreciated. I'm pleased to hear you feel communication is improving. Since my recent appointment as manager for Kingston House I have made this a priority, so it's great to hear it's proving effective. To offer some reassurance...
On discharge from hospital after a major operation, I had ten days convalescence respite at Kingston House. Without exception all the staff were kind, caring and respectful, not only to me but to all the residents they dealt with. I felt that nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was brilliant- good home cooked food every day. There was a choice of food at every meal and even extra snacks and drinks were available. Special food requests were met if at all possible. My room was good and one or two initial omissions were very soon put right. I would thoroughly recommend Kingstone House.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback which I have shared with all the staff. We thoroughly enjoyed having you stay with us and have all missed chatting with you each day. You are always welcome here at Kingston House and we hope to see you again.
My cousin was extremely well cared for in the time that she was a resident. I live in Australia and only saw her a couple of times, but when I phoned, they always were able to bring her to the phone. Problem in having a response from the manager at the time, but the workers were excellent.
Thank you so much for your comments. As the new Manager of Kingston House, my focus is to ensure we maintain good communications with everyone. I shall share your comments with the staff who will be extremely happy to receive such well-deserved praise.
I am very pleased with the care and attention that the staff of Kingston House provide for my father. They are welcoming when I visit and contact me whenever my father has any requirements and to keep me informed of any issues that arise.
Resident and relative satisfaction is extremely important to us here at Kingston House, so thank you for your kind comments. We look forward to seeing you in the home again soon.
I am very pleased with the attention my sister got at Kingston House. The staff were uniformly friendly, considerate and helpful. I was able to visit whenever I wanted and always found my sister well looked after, even in difficult circumstances. On one occasion four members of staff were helping her change her bedding. They could not know I was approaching the room. I was impressed by the quiet and thoughtful way they were treating my sister - they could not have been more considedrate. When arranging her funeral service I asked for donations to Greensleeves Care, and some of her friends have told me that they have contributed. I passed on a cheque for £50 myself. I had no reservations about Kingston House and really cannot commend the staff there too much.
Thank you very much for your lovely review of Kingston House, we have shared this with the team.
My wife has Alzheimer's and has been a resident of Kingston House for 12 months. I visit her several times a week as I live close by. The staff keep her clean and well-dressed. Her food and medicines are regularly provided and monitored. The staff are kind and respectful in dealing with her, and the other residents. Separate staff provide daily activities. Overall I feel they meet my wife's needs and provide the right amount of support.
Thank you for this lovely review, we will make sure it is shared with all the staff.
Kingston House has been a wonderful place for my father since January 2024 when we needed care for him. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, with total peace of mind that he is being looked after and all his needs met.
Thank you very much for your review of Kingston House, I will make sure this is shared with the team.
My father was a resident of Kingston House for a year, from December 2022 to December 2023. He was always treated with great care, kindness and respect. The staff quickly recognised that humour was a way of encouraging him to engage with them and to participate in the regular activities. He especially enjoyed visits from animals as he was brought up on a farm. We will always be grateful for the care he received and for the staff who went above and beyond to help him. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your kind words about Kingston House, I will ensure this is shared with the team.
My mum has been at Kingston House since July 2023 and her physical condition has improved considerably in that time. I’m sure she is very challenging at times but the staff are always very kind and patient with her and always keep me informed of any concerns with her health or behaviour. They are always on top of her needs and have managed to get her joining in with activities which she has always refused before. She has moved rooms a couple of times which has always been in her best interests. Recently it has become difficult when I try to leave and they have been fantastic at distracting my mum and making sure she has the minimal amount of distress.
Thank you for your lovely review, I will share this with the team.
Mum was trying out care homes with a view to a permanent placement. As part of this, she went into Kingston. During the two-week respite care, all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. She was made to feel very welcomed and enjoyed all of the activities provided. Her room was lovely. The food was provided to suit her dietary needs. The only thing she didn't like was the lift, which she felt was very small and dark but, because of the nature of the building, could not be larger.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I will be sure to share this with the team.
In January 2023, Mum got very ill and had to go to hospital. On her return to Kingston House, she had more needs as regards her care and the home made sure that they put everything in place to cover these needs.
Kingston House has a very good activities schedule including trips outside of the home which Mum enjoys very much.
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback about Kingston House, I will be sure to share this with the team.
As a volunteer at this home, I see firsthand the dedication of the staff. Although my role is generally to support on trips out, these trips are part of a wide and varied activity programme that the home offers its residents. Many of the activities are targeted at individuals' interests as well as things that are of general interest.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, and thank you for your support as a volunteer in the home.
(With regard to Value for Money below, I am not family and have no idea how much he pays the home).
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback. We will certainly look into if there is anything more we can do with the doors. Thank you again for your review.
We do not live locally and the staff always phone us about any concerns so that, although we don’t see her every week, we are always fully up-to-date as regards her mental and physical health.
We are full of gratitude to all the kind and thoughtful people who care for our friend.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, I will make sure this is shared with all of the team.
1. Communication is excellent. Someone calls me whenever there is anything to report, no matter how trivial it might seem. The staff want to get to know relatives and make me feel welcome when I visit Mum.
2. Access to medical care. The GP visits the home every week and will see any resident who needs help. The staff are able to get support from the GP at all other times. I have met the GP on several occasions - he is excellent.
Mum seems content. She enjoys the food and was particularly pleased to find out that wine is sometimes served with meals.
The fees seem very reasonable, particularly when compared to other homes. Mum is well looked after and I have peace of mind so it's worth every penny.
Thank you Kingston House.
Thank you very much for your positive review and feedback about Kingston House. We will be sure to share it with the team.

Meet the Team (2)

I have worked in care for over 40 years and at Kingston House for three years. I greatly enjoy my role but particularly knowing I have made a difference to the residents’ lives. I feel privileged that people choose us to care for their loved ones.

I’ve worked in care for 30+ years in a variety of settings and roles, I’ve been at Kingston House for one year and this is my first role as in activities. I love my job, and enjoy spending time with the residents getting to know them. Learning about their likes and dislikes, supporting and enabling them to do the things they enjoy. I love finding new ideas to engage residents in and improve their quality of life.
