We are always involved in what is happening in the care home and have regular quarterly updates of what is changing and plans for entertainment and trips.
Mum can be a bit difficult to manage at times but this is taken into account when dealing with her needs which are dealt with sympathy and consideration.
The
quality and variety of food is very good and everything is made from scratch in house. Staff in the kitchen are very helpful and always make a cup of tea when needed.
The admin support team also keep us advised of hair and chiropody costs and bank account balances etc.
We know mum is being taken care of which relieves the stress on us.
Many thanks to ALL the team

It now 3 years since my wife have been at the Ridgeway, and I must say she could not be at a better place. They have such a wonderful team. From the cleaners, kitchen staff, wonderful caring team and management. My wife is so well looked after and loved. My family and myself would recommend the Ridgeway

Overall I'm pretty happy about care and attention given to the resident that I have the LPA for.
The carers are all very friendly and caring towards her.
I'm always greeted with a friendly smile , but I do want a small moan about the time it takes for someone to let you in (especially if it's raining)
it's been made worse by the change of entry before you used to able press the button and wait in the airlock and then press another button to let you in.
But now you have to wait for both doors to open before your let in (less safe than before)
Otherwise I've no complaints at all.
Reply from Harry Marsh, On behalf of the team at Ridgeway HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are really pleased to hear that you are happy with the care and attention provided, and that you find our team friendly, caring, and welcoming. We also appreciate your comments regarding the entrance system, particularly the inconvenience during bad weather. We understand how frustrating this can be. Following your feedback, the home manager has reviewed the situation and a solution is already in progress, with the door expected to be fully functioning again in the next few weeks. Thank you again for your kind words and helpful feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

I am delighted that my mum has settled into The Ridgeway and feels so at home there.
The staff are wonderfully caring and thoughtful and work so hard to make her feel safe and looked after.
I always feel that the staff go above and beyond and are committed to addressing any issues be they little
or large to rectify them as soon as humanly possible. They are friendly and approachable and go about their busy days very professionally.
My mum has been there for 9 months now and feels very at home there. Thank you to all the staff for what you do.

I have raised issues from time to time but happily and importantly these have been resolved. The manager listened and is keen to see visitors are happy as well as the residents. Overall happy with this care home.

I believe activities are happening but I am not usually there. Mum is restricted in what

she can do with dementia and partial sighted.

We're really pleased to hear that your concerns have been listened to and resolved when raised, and that you've found the manager responsive and focused on ensuring both residents and visitors feel happy and supported. That open communication is something we value highly. We also appreciate your thoughts on activities, especially in relation to your mum's dementia and partial sightedness. We understand that participation can vary depending on individual needs, and we will continue working to ensure activities are as inclusive and meaningful as possible for all residents. Ridgeway House has gone above and beyond providing such a lovely 'homely' environment - for my mum, who has been a resident for nearly two and half years, now.
The home is so clean with a lovely, welcoming atmosphere.
It is such a joy to visit and I always look forward to visiting her, as the staff
are so warm, friendly, and professional, too.
I feel so happy, knowing that Mum is happy, and well cared for and I think my siblings will agree.
Thank you - to all, it means a great deal to me.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.580)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.580) out of 10 for Ridgeway House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.780 for Ridgeway House is calculated as follows: ( (113 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.78
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ridgeway House is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
