With the problems that my father has encountered the staff has been wonderful at handling everything from simple tasks like complete care to more complicated ones. They are highly reliable and I would recommend Coate water care to anyone that is interested. Gideon does his best to resolve problems and gets the problem sorted as soon as possible he is a wonderful manager and I am able to have my full trust in the staff.

When we were looking for a care home for Dad, Ashbury Lodge was one of several we had shortlisted. We decided to visit unannounced on a Saturday afternoon, and from the moment we walked through the door we were struck by the warmth and kindness of the staff. They welcomed us, took the time to show us around, and showed us the rooms that were available without making us feel rushed or like an inconvenience.

What impressed us even more was that by Monday morning our visit had been acknowledged, and arrangements were made to come and meet Dad. He moved into Ashbury Lodge shortly afterwards, and the care he has received ever since has been outstanding. Every member of staff we have met has shown genuine compassion, patience and understanding towards Dad and his individual needs. As a family, this has been incredibly reassuring. Dad had been living independently before unexpectedly suffering a stroke, so his move into residential care was a huge adjustment and emotional shock for us all.

The staff seemed to be interested in the residents, always using their names. From what I saw they seemed to be respectful toward them, and toward their visitors. There always seems to be quite a variation in meals and snacks.

The standard of care is basic and at best acceptable. Residents are often sat around on dining chairs doing nothing - despite the comfortable arm chairs with a better view of the TV and field, being empty.
Other than during set activity times, staff in the room are either engaged in admin, or dealing with residents in their rooms, not having general time to spend with residents. I have found communication to be poor. Issues are only addressed when I raise them and often not in a timely manner.
There is limited outside space, not enough to walk around and the home have only arranged one outside trip in 22 months. Meaning most residents spend all day every day inside, even during warmer months.

The staff do their best and do work hard, and the range of activities and visits from outside organisations is good, however there does not seem to be enough staff to properly meet residents needs.

I have always found that the staff of Ashbury Lodge to be hardworking, friendly and caring. They treat all residents with kindness and respect at all times. Sometimes when great patience is required. The home itself is always very clean and tidy, comfortable and with no undesirable smells. There is always a good range of activities happening and residents are encouraged to join in. I am very happy that my husband is there.

My dad has been at this care home since March 2025. We chose Ashbury Lodge because of the warm, friendly and family feel it has.

I have found the care staff to be genuinely kind, caring, patient and respectful to residents. They all seem to work really hard, in addition, there are a variety of activities organised on a daily basis for the residents. My dad particularly likes the singing and dancing, with guest singers frequently visiting.

The cleaning staff are always friendly and hardworking.
I have found the management team to be very approachable and helpful with resolving any queries or concerns I might have.

Also, Maria, working on the reception and administration team has been a huge help to me. She always has time to help resolve any queries I might have and seems to do an amazing job of coordinating everything while being warm and welcoming.

The fact that it is a fairly small home, I feel is a good thing, because the staff really get to know the residents and family well.

Mum has been at Ashbury Lodge for two years now and is really happy there. Before she lived there, she was scared, angry, defensive and her life had reduced due to her Alzheimer's but I feel the care is satisfactory and all activities she has at Ashbury have opened up her life again. She is safe and secure, her medical needs are met and she is even trying activities she would never have done before (eg dancing). She had become quite isolated, but I also think the company has done her the world of good. Thank you.

My mum stayed at Ashbury Lodge for approximately a year. All the staff are wonderful and really take care to ensure their residents are safe and feeling content. They go out of their way to encourage residents to take part in the activities they have going on. My mum really enjoyed the chair exercises and the singers that came in to perform. She also made some lovely friends. Unfortunately due to my mum's illness progressing, we had to move her into a Nursing Home (under the same Care Home umbrella). The Care Home Manager was fantastic in supporting us with the move, she really cares about all the residents in the home and will go out of her way to ensure the best outcome. Thank you everyone!

The staff worked very hard and treated my mum with care and dignity. They treated her with love and tried hard to make her happy. Dementia made my mum very difficult and challenging at times but this was dealt with by Ashbury Lodge as well as they could. My only comments are that I felt the staff were under staffed and the continuity of care with some staff members wasn't there. Mananagement were also a bit distant. 95% to the hard working staff members.

My Mum was a self-funding resident of Ashbury Lodge from Dec 2023 until Mar 2025. The care team at Ashbury Lodge are incredible, and they have been very pragmatic and respectful of my Mum's dignity as she came to terms with needing dementia support. At all times, I have felt my Mum was safe, and there was amazing interaction with the NHS practitioners to give my Mum a care package that was constantly adjusted to her developing needs. It has felt like there has been a high staff turnover, but this appears to be normal with care homes/care work, but I firmly believe Ashbury has always provided consistent care. The management team have always listened and reacted to feedback. My Mum has moved to a another Care Nursing home now as her medical needs have escalated, and the support from theAshbury Lodge Manager and her team during this transition has been incredible. I firmly believe that Ashbury Lodge is the best option in Swindon for a person with dementia care needs.

The residents seem to be comfortable and looked after by the staff in this home. What is of concern is the large turnaround of staff at present - every time we visit, there seems to be someone new, this home is currently on its fourth manager in two years. Sometimes there are residents left in the dining/lounge area without any staff to be seen, some of these people are quite vunerable.
