My mother has been a resident of Chapel House for nearly 5 months and in that time she has received exceptional care. The staff are both friendly and professional and my mother is happily settled in Chapel House. When searching for a care home for her we visited numerous other care homes in Gloucester
and Chapel House stood head and shoulders above the others. I would highly recommend Chapel House to anyone looking for nursing care in Gloucester.
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Chapel House Care & Nursing HomeThank you so much for your lovely feedback. It is really heartening to hear that your mother has settled in well at Chapel House and is happy and comfortable. We are also very grateful for your kind words about our team. Hearing that they come across as both friendly and professional, and that Chapel House stood out so positively when you were choosing a home, means a great deal to everyone here. Your recommendation is genuinely appreciated, and we will make sure your comments are shared with the whole team. It will mean a lot to them to know the care they provide is making such a positive difference.

My mother is a resident at Westley Court and my father also resided here until his passing in December 2025. Manager Rhiannon is caring, compassionate and professional. She is always responsive to any concerns and will work with families to find solutions to any problems. She has a genuine passion
for the industry she's working in and this is reflected throughout the home. It is kept spotlesslessly clean and fresh and staff are friendly and helpful. The kitchen is well run and the kitchen manager is incredibly helpful with any dietary requirements. Nothing is too much trouble. The entertainments team work hard to provide diversions for the residents and have even had live chicks hatching in an incubator over Easter! This was loved by so many residents. Families are always able to speak to nurses and get feedback on their loved ones. The atmosphere throughout the home is light and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Westley Court to any relative looking for care.
Reply from Rhiannon Waters, Home Manager at Westley CourtThank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review. It truly means a great deal to all of us at Westley Court.
We are honoured to care for your mother and your late father. Your words about my approach, along with the care and dedication of the whole team, are deeply appreciated and reflect what we strive for every day.
It's wonderful to hear that the cleanliness of the home, the friendliness of our team, and the efforts of our kitchen and activities staff have made such a positive impression. We're especially pleased that the Easter chick experience brought so much joy, it was a very special moment for many of our residents.
Ensuring open communication and creating a warm, welcoming environment for residents and their families is at the heart of what we do, so your feedback is incredibly encouraging.
Thank you again for your recommendation and for placing your trust in us. It is a privilege to be part of your family's journey.

My Mother was admitted to Mockley Manor from the hospital in January 2026, and I feel lucky that we have found such a lovely home for her. It is clean and does not smell like some nursing homes do. The nursing staff are friendly, helpful and always smiling.
If they see me on the way up to see Mother,
they will stop me to tell me how she is doing, which is a lovely thing to do. The facilities are good with a cinema room and a hairdresser's, where Mother loves having her hair done every week. The day room has a homely feel and is laid out with a kitchen and lounge area, which has large windows to the floor with a lovely view overlooking the fields. I have even seen small deer in the garden. I can wholeheartedly recommend Mockley Manor.
Reply from Rachael Crocker, Home Manager at Mockley ManorThank you very much for your kind words, i am pleased that the facilities we offer support your mums wishes and having a visit to the hairdresser each week is so important to her

Sarah, the activities coordinator, is fantastic with Dad. Carers are always busy but willing to stop and help as needed. All staff seem friendly and polite.
Dad's bathroom door doesn't shut, and this is still waiting to be fixed. However, when his heater broke, a mobile heater was instantly given.
The interim manager is lovely and very helpful. Overall, very happy with the care given, the security of the building and the food. Dad is happy.
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Arbory Residential HomeThank you so much for sharing your thoughts. We're really glad to hear that Dad is happy and enjoying his time with Sarah, and that our team is making him feel cared for and supported. We truly appreciate your patience with the bathroom door issue and will make sure it's resolved as soon as possible. It's wonderful to know that the care, food, and support from our manager are helping Dad feel safe and comfortable.

Since Dad has been here, his mood and frame of mind has improved. The care staff are amazing and give dad full respect and dignity, as well as choices. He loves activities and taking part, he is kept clean, and aprons are warm, when needed. The room is always clean. Management are good and approachable.
Dad enjoys his food, good choices. Dad feels safe here.

As soon as you walk into Mockley Manor you have the cosy feel of walking into your own home. All of the staff are friendly, welcoming, caring and very compassionate. The entertainment crew led by Kate are amazing, I even joined in myself. We moved my dad into the home in September 2025 as he was
nearing the end of his life and it was very comforting to know that everyone looked after my dad with such love and compassion, and made his final hours the best that they could be. Thank you to Rachel, Marie, Amanda and the rest of the team.

My wife Pam was admitted in December 2024 with Vascular Dementia. Life at home had become too difficult for me to handle. At that stage she was able to use walking frames but her mobility quickly deteriorated and in the end she needed 2 nurses to get anywhere. At times she became violent in her reaction
and overall I believe the nursing staff did well, although some were better than others. She eventually became. bed bound and her dementia worsened to a stage where she could not remember any visitors and was unable to recognise her own grandchildren. She had little interest in food and had to be reminded to drink enough. She had little interest in anything and. rarely participated in the many activities made available. She was incontinent and unable to access toilet facilities without assistance.
She did very much react positively to two visits by therapy dogs and enjoyed pre Christmas carol concerts.
The nursing staff did as well as they could to keep her comfortable.
Reply from Rhiannon Waters, Home Manager at Westley CourtThank you for taking the time to share your experience and for trusting us with Pam's care during such a difficult time.
We are very sorry to hear about the challenges you both faced. Vascular dementia can be incredibly complex, and we understand how hard it must have been to make the decision for Pam to move into care.
We appreciate your kind comments about the nursing team and are pleased that, overall, you felt Pam was well supported as her needs increased. We also take on board your feedback regarding consistency and will continue to strive for the highest standards across all staff.
It's lovely to hear that Pam enjoyed the therapy dog visits and Christmas carol concert, those moments are so important.
Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback, and we send you our very best wishes.

Back in December 2022, I was advised to move my husband from Dementia Care into Nursing and Dementia Care. From the outset, I fell in love with Woodstock, and the building itself has such character. There is plenty of parking, and it is within walking distance of my home in Abbeymead. I was taken on
a tour of the inside, and although at the time it was a bit dated, the garden was spacious and lovely in summer. There was plenty of space downstairs, making it a happy place to visit my husband. The rooms, too, are neat and spacious with en-suite bathrooms. I have found the manager and staff extremely professional and welcoming. The residents, too, are happy once they settle in.
The home has an excellent team of Nursing Staff who have attended to my husband with such exemplary care and patience. Any concerns or issues have always been taken care of. They also have a head Chef, an Assistant Chef and other kitchen staff, cleaners etc. The food is fresh, well-cooked, and presented. Birthdays are special for each resident, and often they celebrate with a buffet or summer barbecue at different times of the year.
Towards the end of last year, the downstairs areas were refurbished with new flooring, furniture, curtains and light fittings et. Also, after a long break, they have employed an Activities person who is making a big difference in the home, keeping the residents entertained.
My concern has only ever been my husband and the safety aspect between active residents and wheelchair/wheelchair bound residents, as the staff are unable to watch constantly, so one carer should be allocated to watch the active residents from destroying the garden, furniture etc. Instead of keeping disabled residents in their rooms. On the upstairs floors, a carer should be visibly on duty to avoid distress, illness etc. The chairs in the lounges should be wiped and disinfected as soon as a person gets up incontinent /wet - this is not done. In my opinion, it appears to be a definite shortage of staff, as often shaving, toileting, nail cutting, and hand washing are not done nearly enough.
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Woodstock Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Were pleased to hear that you appreciate the environment at Woodstock and the care and support provided to your husband. Its always great to know families feel confident in the home.
Regarding the concerns youve raised, these have already been reviewed and addressed by the Home Manager, and appropriate actions have been taken. We will, of course, share your comments with the team, but please be assured that our hygiene standards, personal care routines, and resident supervision are consistently maintained to the highest level.
Our staff remain fully committed to the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of all residents, and we continually review practices to ensure every resident receives the attention and care they need.
Thank you again for your continued involvement and support.

I came to see my best friend Valarie and knowing that she was in a different care home before, when I came to Church View Care Home, immediately I could see the difference, how caring, how attentive and loving they all are to Valarie's needs. The staff are so friendly and always attentive.

The standard of care is basic and at best acceptable. Residents are often sat around on dining chairs doing nothing - despite the comfortable arm chairs with a better view of the TV and field, being empty.
Other than during set activity times, staff in the room are either engaged in admin, or dealing
with residents in their rooms, not having general time to spend with residents. I have found communication to be poor. Issues are only addressed when I raise them and often not in a timely manner.
There is limited outside space, not enough to walk around and the home have only arranged one outside trip in 22 months. Meaning most residents spend all day every day inside, even during warmer months.
The staff do their best and do work hard, and the range of activities and visits from outside organisations is good, however there does not seem to be enough staff to properly meet residents needs.
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Ashbury LodgeThank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify that the concerns formally raised with the Home Manager relate to specific aspects of an individual care plan, which have been acknowledged and responded to promptly. A meeting has been held with the family to review these matters in detail and agree on any further actions required. The points raised within this review regarding overall standards, staffing levels and resident engagement are not reflective of our day-to-day practice. We operate a structured activity programme, welcome regular external visitors, and review staffing in line with residents' assessed needs to ensure appropriate support at all times. We believe open and constructive communication is essential and are pleased that a meeting is scheduled to address concerns directly. Our priority remains the dignity, wellbeing and quality of life of all residents in our care.

I felt immediately at ease when I arrived at Westley Court Nursing home. Rhiannon, the home manager, is amazing and friendly. She worked hard to get all the equipment I needed in a very short timeframe, and has been very supportive. The staff are lovely, very professional, and are always willing to
help me. Any issues I have had, have been addressed promptly, and efficiently. The cleaning staff are cheery and do a wonderful job of keeping the place looking lovely and smelling fresh. The activities staff are great at encouraging me and making me feel involved. The food here is lovely, and the kitchen staff have tried hard to cater for my tastes. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Overall, I love it here.

While mum was in chapel house she had three investigations undertaken including neglect, we had issues with the care the staff provided including missing meals for her because she could not feed herself. Some of the staff here are fantastic but there is a long way to go to change the culture there.
Bells ring, staff tell off residents and some are bedridden and cannot help their selves, due to short staff they routinely do two person tasks single handed.
Personal care is lacking and bruises and marks, skin infections etc were not noticed until the family pointed things out.
The new managers are trying their best to change the way it's ran but from our experience there is a long way to go. However, upon our family members passing the management were extremely supportive in such a hard time.
Reply from Kate Collins, Regional Manager at Chapel House Care & Nursing HomeThank you so much for raising your concerns with myself at the time and affording us the opportunity to investigate incidents that fall below our expectations of the standards of care we provide at Chapel House. We were able to highlight issues with individual staff members who no longer work for the company. We are confident with the changes within the team these issues are now resolved and that the complaint was resolved with your satisfaction. Thank you also for your kind comments that the management and staff were supportive when your Mum passed away. We will ensure this feedback is shared with the team.
