My dad has Lewy Body dementia and has been in the home for maybe 6 months roughly. I just wanted to put a review as a huge thank you to the home's amazing staff, who do everything with love and care as if he were a member of their family. I wish he could be home with me, but Woodstock is the next best
thing. It might not look the poshest or most polished interior but the love and care are second to none, and the new Manager, Catherine appears to be a great new asset, professional, communicative and caring.
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Woodstock Nursing Home

Thank you so much for your kind words. It truly warms our hearts to know that your dad feels loved and cared for here at Woodstock. We know how difficult it can be to have a loved one away from home, and hearing that our team can provide that sense of family and comfort means the world to us. We're thrilled that Catherine has made such a positive impression - she is a wonderful addition to our team, and your feedback will mean a lot to her. Thank you again for trusting us to care for your dad. It's an honour to have him as part of our Woodstock family.

Ashbury Lodge

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad has been at this care home since March 2025. We chose Ashbury Lodge because of the warm, friendly and family feel it has.
I have found the care staff to be genuinely kind, caring, patient and respectful to residents. They all seem to work really hard, in addition, there are a variety of activities
organised on a daily basis for the residents. My dad particularly likes the singing and dancing, with guest singers frequently visiting.

The cleaning staff are always friendly and hardworking.
I have found the management team to be very approachable and helpful with resolving any queries or concerns I might have.
Also, Maria, working on the reception and administration team has been a huge help to me. She always has time to help resolve any queries I might have and seems to do an amazing job of coordinating everything while being warm and welcoming.

The fact that it is a fairly small home, I feel is a good thing, because the staff really get to know the residents and family well.

I was admitted to Westley Court Care Home in July 2019 in 'end stage heart failure with a life expectancy of 3-6 months'. Within days I saw a GP and Heart Failure Nurse who reviewed all of my medication, breathing 'aids' and activities. In that time I developed swallowing problems (and we had the
'Covid Lock Down') and I am still in heart failure with other problems but it is all 'managed' by the HF nurse and staff in the home.
The rooms here are all large, overlook 'green belt' and have their own en suites,. A lounge/diner surrounds an open air dining/BBQ area and is also used for regular entertainment and activities.
Food is good and varied and may be brought to the room or served in the lounge/diner. Staff and management are 'caring' and reliable. Suffice to say that when my husband developed Parkinsons and dementia, my family had no hesitation is applying for a place for him here.

My wife is a resident at Downs View and I am comforted by the care she receives. Every one dealing wirh her knows her problems and treats her with care and compassion. As she becomes more dependant on the staff they accomodate her needs. This was brought home to me abruptly at a recent hospital stay,
where paliative care was the initail responce from the consultants, the staff on general ward did their best but were under constant pressure and unable to give the care that she enjoys at Downs View. Once back she recovered.
God bless the people at Downs View.

From the moment I walked into Mockley Manor, I knew mom was in the best place she could possibly be. It was immediately apparent that here was a place that was going to take the very best care of my mom.
She was in a lovely room, beautifully decorated and looking out over green fields with bird boxes
outside the window. After being in and out of hospital for months, this was such a wonderful environment.
But as ever, it is the staff that make the place special. The manager and the lady on front of house were both so helpful, kind and informative, really helping my dad and the whole family navigate the whole journey. Every one of the care staff were so kind and the attention to detail in ensuring all mom's needs were met was exceptional.
And they were all so kind and supportive to my dad throughout, even after mom sadly passed, the manager and front of house both helped us with the admin, I can't thank them enough.

I was so grateful that Avebury agreed to take my partner for 2 weeks. He had been in the hospital for 8 days after some falls. Leaving him feeling very confused, not knowing where he lived and wandering around all night (after sleeping all day!) - I am 84, needed to get some rest to continue his care,
he lived with me for 8 years after I suggested he should stay with me after his hip replacement - he stayed! bless him.

Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
On choosing Woodstock, I was pleased with the lady who showed me around. Later, I was told that a total of 6 months of refurbishment was in operation. It turned out to be a new front door and decoration on the Ground Floor was all. The room my wife was in was never cleaned properly, floor dust etc.
was left for 5 months, toilet rolls were missing for days at a time. Bins are not emptied after a day. the laundry service was a joke. My wife's clothes went missing, and strangers' clothes were in place instead. My wife lost her wedding ring, various clothes, a commemorative coin etc. The food was very basic, and no attempt to make a meal to appeal to her, was ever offered. My overview is that the Manager and her staff were doing their best to manage under severe financial restraints. The owners should be ashamed.
Reply from Stewart McGinn, CEO at Woodstock Nursing Home

We note that your relative moved out some months ago. We have reviewed the concerns within your review and are disappointed that you felt that you could not raise these concerns at the time. This would have allowed us to fully investigate and respond to you. As a significant amount of time has passed it's now difficult to accurately investigate. We welcome all feedback and will always try to resolve any concerns immediately if afforded the opportunity to do so. The Homes' refurbishment has been underway for several months now, due to finish in Dec 2025. Regular cleaning checks are completed in the Home, overseen by the Manager. Our records show one clothing item was misplaced and later retrieved promptly, the initial inventory detailing your wife's possessions on arrival, did not include a wedding ring or commemorative coin. These concerns were not raised at the time of your wife living in the home. We would therefore reject your feedback as being unsubstantiated.

From our initial visit and the ease of getting our Dad moved in, throughout his few short months here and especially in his last days, when every effort was made to keep him safe and cared for.
