With the problems that my father has encountered the staff has been wonderful at handling everything from simple tasks like complete care to more complicated ones. They are highly reliable and I would recommend Coate water care to anyone that is interested. Gideon does his best to resolve problems and gets the problem sorted as soon as possible he is a wonderful manager and I am able to have my full trust in the staff.

Review of Ashbury Lodge from K S (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
When we were looking for a care home for Dad, Ashbury Lodge was one of several we had shortlisted. We decided to visit unannounced on a Saturday afternoon, and from the moment we walked through the door we were struck by the warmth and kindness of the staff. They welcomed us, took the time to show us around, and showed us the rooms that were available without making us feel rushed or like an inconvenience.

What impressed us even more was that by Monday morning our visit had been acknowledged, and arrangements were made to come and meet Dad. He moved into Ashbury Lodge shortly afterwards, and the care he has received ever since has been outstanding. Every member of staff we have met has shown genuine compassion, patience and understanding towards Dad and his individual needs. As a family, this has been incredibly reassuring. Dad had been living independently before unexpectedly suffering a stroke, so his move into residential care was a huge adjustment and emotional shock for us all.

Review of Avebury House from Ginette P (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Throughout my mothers stay at Avebury House for the past 18 months I have found the staff to be caring and supportive of all my mothers needs. She particularly enjoys the lovely gardens. All the staff are happy to listen and respond to any questions or requests. There are lots of fun activities offered to residents. The new manager has made a positive impact with improvements to the whole environment, including a cinema room and seating area to watch the canal.

Review of Church View Care Home from Stuart B (Son of Resident) published on 23 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

I cannot fault the care team at Church View. They always treated Dad with care and dignity, especially in his last few weeks and days Dad got on well with all the care team and was well-liked by everyone.
The management team were always available and willing to help with any and all issues that arose.

Although I feel the decor could be updated, the care team were brilliant. Thank you!

Review of Church View Care Home from Rachel G (Sister of Resident) published on 17 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My sister was discharged from hospital to Church View in Jan 2026 and was cared for until her death on 26/6/26. Everyone at Church View were so lovely and treated my sister with care and kindness. She was encouraged by the activities team to join in and she really enjoyed that while she could. The staff looked after her so well even when she was confined to bed, nothing was too much trouble and the manager was always so attentive and made sure that everything we asked for was done. I would highly recommend Church View to anyone looking for a care home.

The staff seemed to be interested in the residents, always using their names. From what I saw they seemed to be respectful toward them, and toward their visitors. There always seems to be quite a variation in meals and snacks.

Review of Church View Care Home from P T (Son of Resident) published on 3 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Church View is a lovely nursing home. The initial meeting with manager was friendly and very helpful. My mother was kept clean during her short stay. The room was clean, light and had a lovely outlook. During the end of life care, we did have concerns that the care wasn't proactive in regards to pain relief - we had to ask on numerous occasions for this to be increased due the painful condition my mother suffered with. Staff were very professional during this time, which we are grateful.

In my tree years at Avebury House I have been very grateful and satisfied with the care and support of all the carers and nurses, I am totally dead for do not partake in the many activities provided, but enjoy the games of dominoes and cards with other residents, I cannot comment on food or drink as I am unable to swallow I am fed direct by tube to stomach with liquid energy food, so my final words of my residency at Avebury House is this is my home and I'm very happy here. Thank you.

Review of Avebury House from Andy B (Son of Resident) published on 22 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Dad has been a resident since Feb 2023, has been deaf since 16 and is now 95yrs young. He's independent with his own personal care and can mobilise a short distance with his frame. He has always received the best of care and attention from all staff - Activities include him in Cribb and Domino games, nursing staff give him his daily dose of nutrition via his PEG, care staff assist him with his Friday morning trip to the shower with a change of clothes, and housekeeping ensure his room is clean and any laundry returned on time. He is a well liked resident who enjoys the interaction and banter with staff and fellow residents. He is treated with a high level of care, dignity, and respect and has built a loving and friendly relationship with all staff. The home is well led and has an excellent administrator who looks after resident finance funds and appointments with the hairdresser and chiropodist etc. It's a lovely home and Dad is very happy there. Many thanks to everyone xx

Review of Avebury House from Jasper S (Friend of Resident) published on 14 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

She started in respite care, then switched to permanent and got a better room. Confused and reluctant to stay for the first few weeks, but the staff are all friendly and helpful. Food is good, and she has plenty of visitors and trips out, so she is becoming happier about being in the home. She is encouraged to hang up pictures and collect possessions to make it feel like home. She enjoys sitting in the garden. James and Jasmine, the managers, have been very helpful in explaining options and helping her settle in. The only problem is that the phone messages are not passed on when they should be.

Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Avebury House

Review of Avebury House from Simon R (Nephew of Resident) published on 13 May 2026 Submitted via Website

The staff are very caring and friendly. My aunt took a little while to settle in, as you'd expect, but has always remarked about how well they treat her.

She's safe, well cared for and respected and I can't fault how she's been treated.

My only minor gripe is that internal communication seems to fall down sometimes. Messages don't always seem to get through to other members of staff and, when my Aunt has been unable to take my calls, I often don't get the return phone calls that I'm promised.

Overall though, I'm very happy and know we made the right decision moving her here.
