Dad has been a resident since Feb 2023, has been deaf since 16 and is now 95yrs young. He's independent with his own personal care and can mobilise a short distance with his frame. He has always received the best of care and attention from all staff - Activities include him in Cribb and Domino games,
nursing staff give him his daily dose of nutrition via his PEG, care staff assist him with his Friday morning trip to the shower with a change of clothes, and housekeeping ensure his room is clean and any laundry returned on time. He is a well liked resident who enjoys the interaction and banter with staff and fellow residents. He is treated with a high level of care, dignity, and respect and has built a loving and friendly relationship with all staff. The home is well led and has an excellent administrator who looks after resident finance funds and appointments with the hairdresser and chiropodist etc. It's a lovely home and Dad is very happy there. Many thanks to everyone xx

The staff are very caring. Most afternoons they provide activities for the residents. The food is very good and seemed to be enjoyed by the diners. I would recommend this care home.

She started in respite care, then switched to permanent and got a better room. Confused and reluctant to stay for the first few weeks, but the staff are all friendly and helpful. Food is good, and she has plenty of visitors and trips out, so she is becoming happier about being in the home. She is encouraged
to hang up pictures and collect possessions to make it feel like home. She enjoys sitting in the garden. James and Jasmine, the managers, have been very helpful in explaining options and helping her settle in. The only problem is that the phone messages are not passed on when they should be.
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Avebury HouseThank you for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased to hear that settling in has become easier and that the garden, outings, and support from the team have helped make the home feel more comfortable. Your kind words about James, Jasmine, and the staff are greatly appreciated and will be passed on.

Thank you also for highlighting the issue with phone messages. We appreciate the feedback and will share this with the team to help improve communication.

Avebury House

The staff are very caring and friendly. My aunt took a little while to settle in, as you'd expect, but has always remarked about how well they treat her.
She's safe, well cared for and respected and I can't fault how she's been treated.

My only minor gripe is that internal communication seems to

fall down sometimes. Messages don't always seem to get through to other members of staff and, when my Aunt has been unable to take my calls, I often don't get the return phone calls that I'm promised.

Overall though, I'm very happy and know we made the right decision moving her here.

Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Avebury HouseThank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience. We're delighted to hear that your aunt feels safe, respected, and well cared for by the team, as that is always our priority.

We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding communication. Please be assured that this is something the home is actively working on to improve, particularly around message handovers and returning calls promptly. Your comments are invaluable in helping us provide a better experience for both residents and families.

Thank you again for your support and trust in our care. It means a great deal to us.

A care home is a home to residents for care.
Care in this care home is excellent in manners of ways, because all of the staff - manager - to kitchen staff - housekeeping staff and also the nurses and carers - because each and every member of staff at Avebury House care about what they do. That makes
an excellent home in my opinion. Excellent all round.

Just such a caring amazing place - what makes it special is the exceptional staff.
Nothing is too much trouble. All Mum's needs are being met highly.
They are so sweet and kind, very gentle with Mum.
Always keep us informed as sadly I live some distance away.
All questions are answered.
Mum is
always very clean and her hair and nails done; And although bed ridden is in new nightclothes.
The rooms are cosy and bright.
It's warm and fresh.
It's so clean.
If any personal items are required- they always let us know.
Mum has been at Avebury House for 10 months and we are so pleased to have found her a home, not just a souless institution.
Sadly Mum can't really take part in any activities due to her having had several strokes, however the staff are very supportive and attentive
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Avebury HouseThank you for taking the time to leave such a warm and detailed review.

We are really pleased to hear that your mum is happy and well cared for at Avebury House, and that you feel reassured by the communication and support from the team, especially as you are living some distance away. It means a great deal to know that families feel kept informed and listened to.

I came to see my best friend Valarie and knowing that she was in a different care home before, when I came to Church View Care Home, immediately I could see the difference, how caring, how attentive and loving they all are to Valarie's needs. The staff are so friendly and always attentive.

Ashbury Lodge

from J C (Daughter of Resident) published on 25 February 2026

Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
The standard of care is basic and at best acceptable. Residents are often sat around on dining chairs doing nothing - despite the comfortable arm chairs with a better view of the TV and field, being empty.
Other than during set activity times, staff in the room are either engaged in admin, or dealing
with residents in their rooms, not having general time to spend with residents. I have found communication to be poor. Issues are only addressed when I raise them and often not in a timely manner.
There is limited outside space, not enough to walk around and the home have only arranged one outside trip in 22 months. Meaning most residents spend all day every day inside, even during warmer months.
The staff do their best and do work hard, and the range of activities and visits from outside organisations is good, however there does not seem to be enough staff to properly meet residents needs.
Reply from Guneet Brookes, Marketing Manager at Ashbury LodgeThank you for your feedback.
We would like to clarify that the concerns formally raised with the Home Manager relate to specific aspects of an individual care plan, which have been acknowledged and responded to promptly. A meeting has been held with the family to review these matters in detail and agree on any further actions required.
The points raised within this review regarding overall standards, staffing levels and resident engagement are not reflective of our day-to-day practice. We operate a structured activity programme, welcome regular external visitors, and review staffing in line with residents' assessed needs to ensure appropriate support at all times.
We believe open and constructive communication is essential and are pleased that a meeting is scheduled to address concerns directly. Our priority remains the dignity, wellbeing and quality of life of all residents in our care.

Fiona and her expert and passionate team at Church View have provided my mother with the highest standard of care during what has been an incredibly challenging time. My mother has very complex needs, as a result of injuries, immobility and dementia, and the team at Church View are absolutely dedicated
