Ashbury Lodge is a family-run, private care home on the outskirts of Swindon, catering for 42 residents.

Long term residents are invited to personalize their room, which includes bringing in favorite or treasured items.

Both floors cater for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia who need extra care.

Every floor functions as a separate unit within the home. All staff are trained in the care of those experiencing memory loss, Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Meals are varied and nutritious and prepared daily by the home’s on-site resident chef and food is sourced from local suppliers. Residents are able to choose their own meals whether that’s down to dietary requirements or personal choice.

There is also a garden enabling residents to enjoy sunny days, or short walks fro fresh air.

Today 16/8/18 I took my dad out for 2 hours in afternoon on return to find his bed not made and his toilet not emptied or room cleaned. This distressed my dad very much and this was the afternoon as well with him gone for 2 hours. I would of expected it to have been done especially for hygiene reasons
as well. This is not first time I've asked for it to be emptied.

Dad was in a temporary care home and I was concerned this move would upset him. He settled well and although he was confused the staff really made him welcome. The atmosphere always feels calm and relaxed which goes towards the residents feeling calm and content. Since his move here Dad's behaviour
seems far more consistent.

My family and I never wanted to see dad in a residential home. However, the care and kindness he is shown makes it so much easier. We visit him every day and welcome the 'open door' policy. With my husband working shifts it is often difficult to come in the daytime so evenings is when we can come. The
staff always welcome us and never make us feel bad about visiting at 8pm! Many thanks to you all, a brilliant, caring team.

My father was admitted for emergency 8 weeks care by social services due to his Dementia.
The staff were incredibly sensitive to our distress and made the transition much more bearable.
They are always friendly and caring to all the residents, I am always made to feel welcome whenever I visit.

have only praise for this care home and the respect and dignity they give to residents.

The Management expects the activity organiser to do the impossible job of looking after two floors of residents during the long absence of the 2nd organiser; expecting care staff (already overstretched) to fill the gap. Group activities are urgently needed to stimulate residents who, otherwise, pass
the day with closed eyes.

I would definitely recommend this care home. My mother has only been there a couple of weeks but the change in her is amazing. She is clean, well looked after and the variety of food on offer is really good. The home itself is clean and well kept, as are all the residents. I have found all the staff

It is only day 1, mum moved in today, was made to feel so at home and welcomed. The room was amazing, clean, cosy, warm - mum put her own personal bits and pieces in and it looked lovely. All staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
My friend, who due to her dementia refused help at home, arrived at Ashbury Lodge in a virtually neglected state.
In less than one week she's been pampered. Hair cut, washed and set, manicured and had the chiropodist attend her. Enjoyed plenty of wholesome
meals. Even enjoyed an outing. Joined in activities in the home eg exercise class, singing etc.
She seems much happier, cleaner and calmer.
The transformation is amazing.

Too many personal items get mislaid. Now all of a sudden her 22ct gold wedding ring that my aunt has never taken off is lost. Reply from the home was "sorry don't now where it has gone". Too high a turnover of staff.

Ashbury Lodge has a very good and loyal staffing team with little turnover. This is evident from staff receiving Long service awards for being with the home for 5, 10 and 15years.
Ashbury Lodge operates a robust complaints procedure. All complaints are fully investigated and a full response made. There is an appeals process should the respondent not be satisfied with the outcome of any investigation. The Operations Team oversees all investigations to ensure they are dealt with fairly.
We do encourage Families to speak to the management team and the manager always operates an open door policy. We know that your Auntie has lived with us at Ashbury Lodge since 2010. You have thanked the staff for what they do and classed this as her home. I would be more than happy to discuss any concerns with you. In addition, the operations team is also available to meet with you if you so wish.

I think Ashbury Lodger is a very nice home. I have no complaints at all. Mum is really looked after by everyone here. Her room is always kept clean. The meals are always lovely and plenty of it. Mum gets involved in all the activities which she enjoys. The management is excellent.

I am usually the first face to visitors/ professionals who come to the home. My role is to support one manager and one deputy and deal with all the administration work for both the residents and staff in the home.


I enjoy my job as it's varied but extremely busy, staff are always willing to help out cover shifts when I ask, so the home is run effectively. When I have time, I enjoy getting involved with the residents’ activities and seeing how much they get from what we do for them.
