Mum has been at Madeleine House for three years now. She has settled in well; the staff are all lovely and go out of their way to make Mum feel comfortable as though it was her own home. The manager has made a lot of changes, all for the better. There are many more activities, and it has been redecorated; it is bright and cheerful. The food is very good, the choices are good, it always looks nice. The home is always lovely and clean and is a safe environment for staff, relatives and clients. I would highly recommend Madeleine House.

My mother-in-law became a resident during the Covid-19 period, which was a difficult time for all. During this time, the staff made her feel welcome and helped her settle. Staff have assisted in our visits during restrictions and kept us updated in her care. My mother-in-law seems happy and with the lifting of Covid restrictions, looking forward to more activities being possible, which will help her with her dementia care.

I was unsure at first of how my mother-in-law would react to being in a care home. I can honestly say it is the best thing we did, she loves it there. Instead of being at home on her own, she is able to socialise, she has flourished since she has been at Madeleine house. A big thank you to all the staff that have looked after her and made her feel so welcome.

Throughout these recent difficult times, we have been very pleased with the care mum has continued to receive. The staff are caring and responsive and in particular, we have valued being kept up to date with the situation within the care home and how mom is doing. We are very grateful for all they do for mom.

Mom has been well looked after during the pandemic and her own series of infections.
The staff communicate frequently and with kindness so that we felt involved, even though we live in another part of the country.

They know Mom well and are able to anticipate and meet her needs despite Mom being unable to vocalise them.

Mom was left alone most of the time in her room and not encouraged enough to go downstairs and mix. Her mental state and physical well-being deteriorated in the 6 weeks of being at Madeleine House. Her COVID jab was not given until the day before she left as the doctor is only part-time and neither was her B12, which is most important. This was totally unacceptable as in that time she developed sores under her bust and top of legs through not being examined by the doctor or carers properly. Medication should have been given to correct these. The staff were very friendly, but in my opinion, did not go that extra mile in looking after someone who was vulnerable after spending 5 weeks in hospital. This has instantly been rectified at her new care home.

Mum was only in Madeleine House a short time; her many needs were met with care and attention. Due to Covid, we were unable to visit, but the staff kept us fully informed of her condition, and we could contact them any time.

I was in a mental hospital for 8 months and learned that I wouldn't be discharged back to my council flat if they thought it unsuitable. I was amazed when asked what kind of place would I like for living. I said somewhere as much like this (the hospital) as possible. At Madeleine, they clean rooms, change beds and provide good food, when I had failed at all three before. The staff is usually friendly and the management staff are wonderfully understanding and have time to talk and I am glad of the resident's company when I can manage it and it is warm. God bless you all.

So far we have no complaints. Everyone is really helpful and cheerful and can't do enough. My mother has only just entered the home but seems to be settling in OK. She is looking a lot better than she has done for a long time.

Visited this home on 26th October to get my uncle assessed. Very impressed with home and staff. Took my uncle to home on 20th November where again was very satisfied with the way he was accepted and made welcome. As I live 3 hours drive away I cannot get to visit very often but telephone on a regular basis where I find staff very helpful.

From what I saw on my first visit to Madeleine House to visit my uncle the staff were extremely helpful and friendly which was reassuring. I was there for three hours so cannot comment on all aspects below, however, I was impressed by what I saw.

My mother has been at Madeleine House for 16 months.
She has Dementia and is physically frail.
Over time she has lost the ability to walk and the home have adapted to this without problem.
She has also become doubly incontinent and the home manages this effectively.
Mum has also had to revert to soft foods due to swallowing risks and the home have introduced this with care.
A parent going into residential care is always difficult and Mum misses being at home and does not really understand where she is now, but the staff of the home have been caring and supportive.
I have never had the feeling that she is not well cared for.
Her clothes are changed every day and the laundry woman is marvellous!
It is always clean when I visit.
When our relatives are in a home we leave a lot to trust, because we are not there most of the time.
I generally feel reassured that Mum is well cared for and I do not worry about the mistreatment we read of at some homes.

I have found management to be responsive to any issues that I have raised with them.

My gran has only been here a month and wasn't too sure how she would settle due to just leaving another home (on respite) having had an unpleasant experience.

We are all happy to see that she has settled in great and seems very happy and upbeat each time we visit. Staff are always polite and welcoming and gran can't praise them enough.

One month ago, my mom entered Madeleine House as a very lonely, nervous, fragile 89-year-old who had not long lost her husband of 66 years. Within the next month, mom has become relaxed, happy and very confident in herself. The home has provided exactly the kind of care mom required. Mom has been treated with great respect, kindness, patience and now calls Madeleine House home. I cannot thank the staff enough from the management to the cleaners, everyone is so caring. Thank you all so much.
