My mum always said how nice the staff were every time I visited
I would recommend Charnwood to anyone that needed care
Thank you very much for your kind words and lovely feedback. It's so heart-warming to hear first hand how our support had a positive impact on you both. Your mum was a delight to have with us here at Charnwood.
I have not visited a care home since 1985 when my mother was a resident. I was a bit apprehensive about assessing care homes for my husband who has dementia. A social worker advised me to look at the staff not the decor to decide what was required. I asked staff how long they had been employed at Charnwood and found some had been there 5 and 9 years which was reassuring. The staff are very caring and look after my husbands needs. They are patient with him he is well fed and his personal hygiene is excellent. The decor is satisfactory.
Thank you for your kind words, I will pass these onto the staff team as I know they will really appreciate it. Your husband has settled in really well, it is lovely to have him here and we are so glad that you are happy with everything.
Honestly, my mum has vascular dementia and what a complete turnaround. Obviously, she still has dementia but since my mum started residing in Charwood she has gone from strength to strength. She engages with people, laughs - I feel as though I have my mum back. The care team are excellent food, rooms and entertainment all brilliant. Thank you all so much forever in your debt.
Thank you so much for your lovely words, I will pass these on to the staff as I know they will appreciate them. We are all so glad that mum has settled in as well as she has and we love having her here at Charnwood House.
Since moving here in November 2024, our mum has come on leaps and bounds. We have peace of mind she is in a safe, well-run establishment. The staff are polite, professional and helpful always looking happy in their role as caregivers. Excellent!
Mum has been at Charnwood House for two years now. She is very well looked after and all the carers are kind and friendly. Mum's room is always clean and tidy as are the lounge areas. The only issues we have had is that some items have gone missing over time but understand that this is inevitable.
Thank you for your kind words, I will pass this on to the staff team. Mum is always a pleasure to have and she always seems very happy here. I apologise for the missing items, if there is anything in particular please pop by and see me and I will be more than happy to look into it for you.
Facilities, food and staff all first rate and can't recommend enough. Always confident that on any visit mum will be happy to see us and so lovely to have piece of mind to know that mum is cared for and safe.
Thank you so much for such positive feedback. I will pass your kind words and feedback to them. Your mum is always so happy and we love having her here.
The manager's door is always open with a friendly chat on the way in or out.
Knowing mum is well cared for gives the whole family piece of mind.
I can't recommend strongly enough.
Thank you for such kind words. I know the staff will be very pleased with your feedback. It is a real pleasure to look after you mum.
Absolutely lovely staff, and very professionally run. My mum was well looked after, made great connections with the staff, even though she was only there a short time. Staff are always on hand to speak too. They have a great connection with the clients.
Thank you so much for taking the time to send us a review, it is lovely to know we made a difference to your loved one. I will pass on your comments to the staff.
My dear mum was a resident. Unfortunately, we lost our dear mum on Monday 19th August. There was so much going on I always enjoyed visiting and seeing her laughing. Entertainment was brilliant music, films, baby chicks being hatched, fetes, parties, Xmas parties so so much going on. My mum had the best time of her life at Charnwood and I will miss all the wonderful staff. On behalf of my dear mum and family, I am beyond words for the care you gave to her and us as a family, and will miss you all dearly. I cannot thank you all enough for everything and will miss you all at Sycamore Lodge which my mum and our family loved too. So behalf of myself, my sister, and my brother we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the amazing time my mum had with you it was like one big holiday. Many thanks and love to you all for the amazing care and lots of laughs. Will miss you all so much Love myself and the family and of course our dear, funny, and amazing mum.
Thank you for your kind words, I know the staff will really appreciate reading them. It was such a pleasure to have your mum in our home, we will miss her dearly.
She has now been on Oak for over 7 months and the staff on Oak have taken time to learn about my Auntie and our family. They give me regular feedback on my Auntie's care and I have no hesitation in approaching any of the staff if I have any concerns about her welfare. All of the staff from the cleaners and the chefs to the carers and managers are friendly and supportive.
Residents have the opportunity to join in many activities either in the large lounge, the smaller one on Oak, or the gardens. My Auntie enjoys the visits from the local nursery children and a recent favourite was the incubating eggs and the subsequent hatching of the chicks, such a good way to generate interaction and conversation.
I would highly recommend this home. Thank you.
Having stayed overnight to be with my uncle I saw the staff support other residents who were awake all night, I witnessed the staff, care for the residents with kindness and empathy, and it was a real eye-opener to what you see when just visiting.
These staff do an amazing job and I couldn’t have been more impressed.
I would also like to thank the staff for sitting with my uncle when I couldn’t be with him and knowing he wasn’t on his own, allowing me to take the time out that I needed.
You do an amazing job thank you.
It was lovely to read your comments. We were very sorry to lose your uncle recently and staff wanted to be with him whenever they could. I will make sure the staff see this lovely review and I am sure it will be a boost for them to see it.
Mum was coming up to 90 at the time and very confused having been moved from her home of over fifty years to a hospital and then respite care.
Mum immediately relaxed with the kind, attentive treatment of the staff who are so friendly with residents and families.
The place is spotless with none of the, all too familiar, odours of some care homes.
A change of management further improved already excellent facilities with regular activities and garden amenities.
My daughter’s connection to the NHS has meant that we have regular feedback from visiting nurses who rate Charnwood as the best in Coventry.
Of course, there are struggles but like any organisation, it is how they are dealt with and the open and friendly management team have given us, as a family, the confidence to know that our lovely mum is content and happy now approaching 92.
Many thanks for the review, it is much appreciated and also your kind words. The team will be really pleased to know that their dedication and commitment are appreciated. I will share your kind words with the rest of the team.
My Dad has been at Charnwood House for respite for the last 6 weeks and has settled in well and has connected well with a few of the carers and senior members of staff. I won’t lie there have been a few teething problems but nothing to be concerned about you can phone any time of the day and go visit too. You can go and speak to management anytime if they are not busy door is always open meals look lovely had no complaints about my Dad snacks day and night and plenty of tea coffee and juice the good thing too is my Dad is still able to keep smoking and have a beer as this weekend they are watching the football so that will be a good day. The activities are getting better, when we first arrived there wasn’t a lot happening but that has started to improve overall happy that my Dad is safe being looked after and he is comfortable there at Charnwood House.
My Mother was lovingly and efficiently cared for during her 17-month stay at Charnwood House. The property is well managed by a lovely hands-on and approachable manageress whose ethos is to treat all residents as family and this is evident from day one of residency and continued each day until her unfortunate death at age 90. Mum was looked after by a dedicated team of well-trained and pro-active staff. The food served was excellent and the choice of dishes varied. Residents have plenty of opportunities to join in the large range of activities presented before them each day to keep their minds active. I have no reservations about recommending this care home.
My Mother spent over 9 years at Charnwood after her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and ended her days there peacefully under their loving care. During her time there, she was beautifully looked after, well-fed, and part of their family, even though she was unable to join in the activities due to her dementia. We chose the home initially because Mother was a lifelong supporter of MHA as a stalwart Methodist and her faith was vital to her well-being. I am grateful to the staff and chaplain for their support at the time of Mother’s death, and during the whole of her stay there.
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a positive review, I will pass on your kind words to all our staff. Your Mum will be very dearly missed by everyone at Charnwood House and I am so glad we were able to look after her.
The facilities were always clean and bright, there were always activities going on to join in if you wished to.
The management and the Chaplain were also very supportive of my mother and us as relatives.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I will pass this on to the team who will be really pleased to know their dedication is recognised. Having your mum at the home was a real pleasure and we were really sad to see her go, however, it was also really lovely to see the improvement in her health. We wish you all well.
Mum was on respite in Charnwood House in August 2023. We were very happy with her room, the staff, friendliness, cleanliness and general day to day functioning of the house. Mum was happy with food, staff etc. We felt that there could have been more activities done with Mum, also that when she became a bit unwell there was some confusion over doctors visits, outcomes etc. Generally, overall we were satisfied with care provided.
Thank you very much for taking the time to send a review, I am glad that you are satisfied with the overall care. We will of course take onboard your feedback regarding activities. It was a pleasure having your mum stay with us.
Our dad came to Charnwood House Care Home in November 2022 after an emergency hospital admission and after his wife had had a fall five weeks before. The care and compassion that has been shown to him and to his family can't be properly described. We are getting used to a new normal as a family and any questions we have had, any moments when we have questioned what we are doing have been dealt with calmly and, most importantly, with a level of kindness that will never be forgotten. Thank you.
After receiving a devastating diagnosis of Alzheimer's and no longer being able to stay in her own home, my mother-in-law became a resident of Charnwood House Care Home. The staff were fantastic and our family cannot thank them enough for their care, patience and support they gave, both to my mother-in-law and also to our family. The staff and management were always available for an update or even just a chat at any time. The rooms are lovely, clean, fresh and homely. There is definitely a 'nice feel' to the place. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law had a spell in hospital and the care, or lack of care, in there made it impossible to recover from. We were lucky enough that her last few days were spent back at Charnwood House and she passed away peacefully in a very dignified manner. The staff were superb right to the very end, we could not recommend Charnwood House highly enough.
