Someone living with our definition of "mild dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Memory problems such as misplacing items and not be able to recall recent events (however, in some forms of dementia a person's memory may be unchanged)
- Difficulties thinking through problems and planning, making decisions
- Language and communication issues such as finding it difficult to recall the appropriate word in a conversation or following a conversation
- Poor orientation, getting lost in areas previously familiar to them
- Difficulty judging distances (more falls than usual)
- Changes in their normal mood including anxiety and depression
- In certain types of dementia, personality and behaviour changes may be present alongside or instead of issues with memory or concentration.
Moderate Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "moderate dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Worsened memory problems. Not always recognising own family members and friends. Repeating the same questions over and over again
- Worsened language and communication issues, forgetting what they are saying mid-sentence. Not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- Severe confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Verbally or physically aggressive behaviour
If your loved one displays this type of behaviour you may need a care home that has specially trained staff. Verbal/physical aggression is often defined:
- Consistent shouting and screaming
- Verbal abuse
- Physical abuse

My grandmother has been in Tendercare for a few years now and I honestly couldn't fault the staff. They are all extremely friendly and they always go the extra mile. My grandmother has built close bonds with all staff, and gets on well with the other residents. My nan loves to call this place home and she wouldn't want to be anywhere else. They also take safeguarding and person centred care very seriously and the team have 100% trust from me to take care of my grandmother. Thank you for all that you do.

Overall Experience
My Auntie Aggie lived at Tendercare for five years and recently passed away at the age of 99. During her time there, she received outstanding care, kindness, and respect from all the staff. The home was always clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and we had complete confidence that she was safe and well looked after. The staff went above and beyond to support both my auntie and our family, especially in her final days. Their compassion, professionalism, and dedication meant so much to us. We are deeply grateful for everything they did and would highly recommend Tendercare to anyone looking for a caring and supportive home for a loved one.

Overall Experience
From the minute I walked through the front door could tell this was like no other care home. The welcoming decor but most of all the smiles on the residents faces. This isn't just a care home it's their home and the staff respect that it is their home treating everyone with dignity and kindness, nothing being too much trouble. I would not hesitate to recommend this home, it is a credit to the staff but especially the manager who quite clearly goes above and beyond

I have been visiting Tender care home twice weekly as a volunteer for the past 3 months.
I have always been treated respectfully and made to feel welcome.
The home has a lovely atmosphere and always looks clean and tidy.
The staff are exceptional and I have witnessed how caring and compassionately they assist with all the residents needs. The manager is always approachable and will listen to any concerns that you may have.
The residents are always well cared for and happy to talk with me, I am sure that they would raise any concerns that they have with myself, staff and the home manager.
Having myself worked within the care sector for the past 25 years, I honestly believe that Tendercare home is one of the best homes that i have visited.

Overall Experience
I am writing this review to inform everyone how all the wonderful staff from housekeeping to management showed professionalism and all had such a genuine caring nature.
The care shown to my friend whilst in their care is second to none and the care and attention shown to myself and my partner has not gone un-noticed and nothing was too much trouble.
A special mention to the home manager
Who is truly running an excellent care home and to the deputy manager who was always there for us whenever we visited and made time to talk to us.
