Foxlands provided a perfect place for my Mum to recover for three weeks after surgery. From the outset, contact with Foxlands was both caring and professional.Mum was made to feel less anxious about moving in and in fact looked forward to it.When she was there, she was gently encouraged to mix with
others at the dining table and hence she very much enjoyed the company of three other ladies. All staff were very caring and when visiting you immediately felt a relaxed and happy environment.I was confident that my Mum received the appropriate care that she needed.Although Mum did not get involved in any activities, they were very varied, and if Mum had stayed longer, I am sure she would have enjoyed getting involved in some of them.
Reply from Jazz Lalli, Reviews Team at Foxland GrangeHello and thank you for taking the time to review us. It is rewarding to hear your Mum had a great respite stay with us post surgery and great to hear mum enjoyed the company of other residents during Mum's stay. It was wonderful having Mum with us for a few short weeks. We look forward to welcoming Mum on a social aspect in the near future for events and lunch at Foxland Grange.

My Father has been a resident at Foxlands since March 2024, when he was no longer able to look after my mother and himself. My mother sadly passed away in July 2024, but the care she received from the staff was exemplary as was the support they gave my father and the family. Since then Dad has had to
find a new norm having being married for 67 years, the staff at Foxlands have played an important role in this, taking time to understand his interests. He has always been a keen gardner and with the home having raised beds and pots has enabled him to take an interest in the gardens and look at what could be planted for all residents to enjoy. Even families of other residents are bringing in plants for him to find places for. He has been named Monty John. In addition to gardening he enjoys any word games or quizzes, at 91 years old he wants to keep his mind active, again the activities team make sure that things are modified for his poor sight. All staff are a credit to the Home

We attended the dementia cafe organised by the staff at Foxland Grange. The event was extremely informative and created a safe place for us to discuss a variety of subjects that related to our experiences with dementia. We learnt so very much from the talk given by Alzheimer's Society and the shared
stories shared by other attendees. Very grateful for this opportunity to attend and participate.
Reply from Jazz Lalli, Reviews Team at Foxland GrangeThank you for your lovely feedback about the dementia cafe. It is a fantastic way to help families and friends with loved ones here at Foxland Grange and the local community, too. We will continue to hold these sessions as they have proved to be very successful. Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming you to many more sessions to come.

My mother is a new resident to Foxland Grange - not yet three weeks. Our guidance and support during the exploratory and pre-resident stays was outstanding, all questions answered and reassurance in abundance. Mum was leaving her home of 61 years where I was heavily included in her care. The 'move-in'
was smooth (and emotional). My mother has very poor vision so getting used to new routines and environment has been challenging - it is still early days. The staff have been supportive, the environment warm and welcoming. As a relative I have been made welcome and been encouraged to be involved with my mother's care as we would both wish. We continue to learn about the new lifestyle as the team continue to learn about us!

One of the things I appreciate most about Foxland Grange is that the staff really do try very hard to make the residents' lives better and sometimes, for example with dementia patients, it is not an easy task at all. The availability of safe and private places where you can spend time with relations
(in a large or small group) makes all the difference to visits. In particular, the private lunch/dinner room where you can share a family meal together is lovely and the food is excellent, the service attentive.
Reply from Jazz Lalli, Reviews Team at Foxland GrangeHello, thank you for your lovely comments. Team members at Foxland Grange strive to do the very best for residents and families. We are fortunate to have a lovely space within the home to accommodate larger and smaller areas for one-to-one or group activities. The chefs offer many alternative menus to suit all resident needs. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you again soon.

On entering we were very impressed by the spaciousness and warm atmosphere, most aspects were excellent, the very helpful carers, the facilities and the varied interests and activities. There was a good variety of food but it wasn't always well cooked. The evening meal was too early for me so I had
to have cheese and biscuits every day in order to eat later. My room wasn't cleaned every day and the bathroom rubbish was only removed when I asked. Apart from these slight niggles I've enjoyed my stay immensely and hope to return next Christmas.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Foxland GrangeThank you very much for your review. I was really happy to see your high scores and read your kind comments, particularly for the care and atmosphere at Foxland Grange. I do note that there were a couple of things we could have done differently to improve your stay, and I hope if we are able to welcome you back for another stay with us, that we can put these right for you. Please also do always feel welcome to pop in at any time for a cup of tea and cake in the bistro or for one of our free community events.

Very pleasant atmosphere on arrival. Helpful reception. My friend seems to be struggling at present, adjusting to becoming a permanent resident.
We had a lovely hour together and was very good to talk and covered a wide range of topics.
The main downside of the visit was the loud intrusion of the
call signals. I appreciate this has to be a way of alerting the staff but the alarm noise was very intrusive.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Foxland GrangeThank you for your review, I'm pleased to hear your comments about the atmosphere and welcome at Foxland Grange. I'm sorry to hear about the call bells and the noise that they make. We have this system to ensure that the team are alerted to calls made by residents when they require assistance - however, we are working on improving this system, which will hopefully make it a little less noise-intrusive in the future.

Friendly and helpful staff. Many of the carers have strong and positive bonds with my nan. Certain staff go above and beyond in their care for her.
There has been occasions however where carers haven't carried out their routine checks and my nan has been left waiting to go to the loo or has risked
going alone. Despite this, the care is generally good and my nan's experience is positive.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Foxland GrangeThank you for your lovely review and wonderful comments about our care team. In regards to the routine checks, we will raise this with the care team to make sure proper procedures are always being followed however, if she needs assistance at any time (and not just during checks), there is always someone on hand to help. I know some residents are sometimes reluctant to disturb the team, but that's what we, and the call bells, are here for, also make sure all residents are aware of this, and that we are happy to support them at any time. Thank you again, and please do let us know if you have any comments, concerns or feedback now or in the future, and we'll be happy to help.

Dad spent his final 2 and a bit months at Foxland's and despite being towards the end of his life he 'lived' his final few weeks so well, due to the amazing care that he received from all of the staff. He was treated with care and dignity and the staff got to know him. He was very happy and had the
best quality of life he had for some time. Thank you all so much for all that you did for Dad.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.692)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.692) out of 10 for Foxland Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 35 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.692 for Foxland Grange is calculated as follows: ( (307 Excellents x 5) + (88 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 415 Ratings = 4.692
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Foxland Grange is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 108 registered maximum number of service users is 21.6, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
