There is not a lot my husband can do, but he is still involved in activities whenever possible. The staff are friendly and caring, the food is great and the constant contact is reassuring.

there is a feeling of security every time I visit and that is important because it meals that loved ones are safe. Staff are always visible and approachable if help is required. The obvious personal care that is given is impressive - daily shaves, hair, nails, clean and cared for clothing, help with nourishment and the efficient administration of medicines, all give the impression of a professional and caring management team. This in turn has led to peace of mind for the relatives and friends of residents who have shared their difficult days and months prior to admission.

My mom has been a resident for nearly 3 years. It was a difficult decision to make but the team at Foxlands made us all very welcome. The carers are very kind and caring. The management and senior team keep us regularly updated with any changes in Mom's health. The facilities here are amazing, the food choices are excellent, entertainment programme is brilliant. We feel happy in the knowledge that Mom is safe, well looked after and local to us.

Very clean and always a friendly welcome.
A bistro near the entrance is perfect for a meet and greet and all the staff very helpful.
The manager is very prompt at helping over any issues and addresses the situations with courtesy and individual attention.
The activities are varied and well-conducted.
The weekly menu is well-produced and the chefs serve it up attractively and hot. Often a failure point in many care homes.
Like all residential senior living, the call system for attention can be challenging for both residents and care staff and is probably an issue for some.
Parking is sometimes a bit of a squeeze!

Overall a pleasant and relaxing friendly place to be.

Thank you for taking your time to submit your review – it was lovely to read your kind words, particularly about the team and dining experience. My mother stayed at Foxland Grange for 4 weeks over the Christmas period. It was such a positive experience for her, and we’ve all been impressed with the standard of care given. Without fail, the staff Mum (and I) came into contact with were so friendly, cheerful and kind and I witnessed this high standard towards other residents on each of my visits.

New Year's Day lunch in the dining room was excellent. The staff were friendly, helpful and very caring. They knew exactly what my mother-in-law liked and anticipated her needs (such as cutting up meat and providing the drink she preferred). The meal (three courses plus coffee) was very well-presented, appealing and tasty and the portion sizes were good too. All in all a lovely experience and demonstrated again that my mother-in-law moving to Foxland Grange was an excellent decision. Thank you to all the staff who made it a New Year to remember.

Since the new manager took office, the atmosphere in the home has deteriorated. Staff (mostly long-serving) are leaving. The food offering has worsened significantly.

We visited our grandmother for afternoon tea. The food and staff were lovely. Staff very welcoming. I would suggest less cakes and more sandwiches on the afternoon tea - not enough sandwiches for us all and too many cakes. All the food was delicious though.

The room we sat in was beautiful but not the best location as we could not get out, we had to keep ringing reception to come and open the doors to let us out of that section of the building.

Very well designed and maintained premises. Staff very pleasant, kind and empathetic. Plenty of activities for residents, who are encouraged to participate, e.g. 'beach day' and 'craft exhibition', which were very successful due to very good planning plus good weather!

My mom has been a resident for five years and her overall experience has been a very happy one. The care team really do become dear friends, who are always happy to give a friendly smile and a hug. They sometimes could do with having extra staff on during the day, as it has seemed to be understaffed over the last few months. Maybe not as efficient as previously.

Foxland Grange is everything you pray for in a residential home. The staff genuinely do care and more importantly so do management. They ensure the focus is on treating each resident as an individual and meeting those needs. There is always something for them to do. Activities and trips vary to make sure there is something for everyone. My grandfather is treated with so much respect and dignity even when his illness sometimes prevents him from treating others the same way. Every member of staff is amazing and there are so many staff members that everyone is well looked after. The food is fantastic and they are offered so much choice, and can request things that aren't on the menu if they fancy something else. As a family member I feel welcome and heard by whoever I approach and actions happen quickly. It is a safe space for all. I hope I am fortunate to find myself somewhere like this if I ever need it.

Katy Anderson
Katy AndersonJob Title:Home Manager

I am a qualified nurse and also have a degree in mental health nursing. I have also completed an accredited leadership course with the Royal College of Nursing.

I have been with Care UK since 2023, and it’s an organisation with a strong ethos and values that are completely focused on delivering high-quality care.

As a home manager, excellent leadership is vital. The key is understanding each resident and each team member, and maintaining open, honest communication with everyone who comes to Hartwood. Working in care takes real commitment, and a leadership position needs a high level of focus and attention to detail, while still being warm and approachable. My door is always open to everyone.

I also believe in leading by example, so I always try to model excellent practice. It is important to fulfil the responsibility and trust placed in me, and I want to ensure every resident has a positive experience here.

I love to see people enjoy themselves. Socialising is so important to a person’s well-being. It’s wonderful to see the bistro filled with relatives and children visiting their loved ones. Life for many people starts again in a care home, and I have seen so many residents over the years find a fresh purpose, make friends and enjoy new hobbies. Being a home manager is a privilege and deeply rewarding. I honestly don’t see this as just a job; it’s a large part of my life, and my workplace is like a second home.

Outside of work, my son and I love going on wildlife walks in the woods. I also enjoy anything that involves animals. I have a large extended family too, so we socialise a lot, which I always look forward to.
