Overall Experience

Dad spent his final 2 and a bit months at Foxland's and despite being towards the end of his life he 'lived' his final few weeks so well, due to the amazing care that he received from all of the staff. He was treated with care and dignity and the staff got to know him. He was very happy and had the best quality of life he had for some time. Thank you all so much for all that you did for Dad.

This is an efficiently run and well staffed establishment, and personnel employed here are well motivated and trained, and go the extra mile for their residents and families. The hygiene and catering standards by comparison with other care homes are extremely high, although this is entirely commensurate with costs.

Always got a warm welcome and all staff make an effort to acknowledge residents and visitors. The care and facilities are really good and there are always activities going on. After renewing and visiting many care homes for my mother, aunt and friend, I have yet to find one better than Foxlands. The care is second to none with the resident always first, where else can you visit a Bistro? The ambience on entering Foxlands is both welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. I would recommend for both nursing and care.

While Mum is generally happy living at Foxland Grange there have been a number of basic aspects of her care which have not been specific to her needs e.g not checking hearing aids, not cutting up her food in a way she can eat it, not helping her clean her nails, items of clothes being damaged etc.

However, I am pleased to say that having highlighted these shortcomings to the staff and to management, there has been a vast improvement and the family are pleased with the changes.

The team are always very smiley and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The bistro area is great for taking our family member for a drink. Lots of activities on all the time - sometimes we come and she bust with other residents doing an activity.

It's always nice knowing our family member is well looked after.

Dad has been a resident for over 3 years. The nursing staff are excellent and all the staff offer excellent support and welcome.
The facilities are well looked after with new furniture in communal areas.

The fees are expensive in comparison to other homes but I guess you get what you pay for!

Meet the Team (1)

Katy Anderson
Katy AndersonJob Title:Home Manager

I am a qualified nurse and also have a degree in mental health nursing. I have also completed an accredited leadership course with the Royal College of Nursing.

I have been with Care UK since 2023, and it’s an organisation with a strong ethos and values that are completely focused on delivering high-quality care.

As a home manager, excellent leadership is vital. The key is understanding each resident and each team member, and maintaining open, honest communication with everyone who comes to Hartwood. Working in care takes real commitment, and a leadership position needs a high level of focus and attention to detail, while still being warm and approachable. My door is always open to everyone.

I also believe in leading by example, so I always try to model excellent practice. It is important to fulfil the responsibility and trust placed in me, and I want to ensure every resident has a positive experience here.

I love to see people enjoy themselves. Socialising is so important to a person’s well-being. It’s wonderful to see the bistro filled with relatives and children visiting their loved ones. Life for many people starts again in a care home, and I have seen so many residents over the years find a fresh purpose, make friends and enjoy new hobbies. Being a home manager is a privilege and deeply rewarding. I honestly don’t see this as just a job; it’s a large part of my life, and my workplace is like a second home.

Outside of work, my son and I love going on wildlife walks in the woods. I also enjoy anything that involves animals. I have a large extended family too, so we socialise a lot, which I always look forward to.
