The team at Brambles are devoted to supporting their residents to live life to the full. They follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, security and significance.

For example, one gentleman loved fishing, so recently a member of staff took him on a trip to a fishing lake with his daughter. He was proud as punch to catch five fish, which gave him such a sense of achievement. Another resident has special childhood memories of Studley Castle, so another member of the team took her and a small group of residents there for a special tea.

The team provides residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance, for example if you care for a loved one at home and would like to take a short break of your own, you can pre-book respite care for your loved one.

Brambles has a very warm, family feel. And there are lots of lovely spaces in the home to enjoy, from the beautiful large gardens, complete with an allotment plot, a summer house and a heated outdoor café pod. The bedrooms have ensuite walk in wet rooms and there is a hair salon, for regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

There are so many activities to enjoy, including gardening, regular visits from local school children, baking, knitting and book clubs, interactive games on the giant tablet and pampering sessions. There are plenty of trips out into the community, whether visiting a local garden centre or enjoying a pub lunch.

Residents enjoy home-cooked meals in the dining room every day, as well as freshly baked cakes with afternoon tea.

Amazing all the care and attention also thoughfulness that goes into making christmas celebrations happy for the residence. Special praise for the person who co-ordinates all the activities and the chef for the wonderful food he and his team serve.

My mother has had the most wonderful care at the Brambles. She loved her room looking out on the garden so she could enjoy watching the squirrels, birds and kitten peeping through the window. There was nothing too much trouble for the staff to ensure she was comfortable and so well cared for. Fiona
was so caring and helpful and always there when I needed advice. Mummy was also very fond of V who always treated her with respect and gentle care. They have a very good system of regularly checking residents are safe and if my mother moved around at night they were there to check she was alright and reassure her. It is such a shame that she now needs full time nursing care so she cannot return to the Brambles but we will be always grateful for such kindness shown to both of us.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Design and Marketing Assistant at Brambles Residential Care HomeThank you for sharing such lovely feedback. We're so pleased your mother felt comfortable and cared for, and that she enjoyed her garden view. It means a lot to know our team provided the support and reassurance you both needed.

Since our mother has arrived at the Brambles, she has received the upmost care and support. There has always been a member of staff or management to help with anything you have to ask and they do there best to help myself and my mother to solve any issues. Mum has settled down really well. I would recomend
the Bramber care home, to anyone in our situation

We would have been lost without the Brambles. The staff are welcoming and provide the best care to my granny, and even to my family. The team are also longstanding so it's really reassuring to have the same familiar faces when we visit the home. We know everyone, like friends. Forever thankful to the

Mother spent just a month in the Brambles, but the care she received during that short time was second to none. When she arrived she was incapable of looking after herself, dehydrated and quite ill. A month later she was so much better, she was well enough to accept an invitation to a pub lunch 2 days
before she died. Unfortunately, her heart gave up shortly afterwards, but she had so enjoyed that last outing.

After 49 days and right in the very lovely care of the staff at Brambles, my husband was very capable of giving a glowing report on how they cared for him in every way in spite of his very desperate needs. There are no hiccups to mention from any aspect. As his wife, I now have to live with my memories
and know he was as happy and content as he could be in this very later part of his life. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.499)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.499) out of 10 for Brambles Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.624 for Brambles Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (142 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 202 Ratings = 4.624
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brambles Residential Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I enjoy coming to work every day at the Brambles - the home has a lovely community feel and we all come here with a smile on our faces.

I have two parents in their 80s - one of them lives with dementia and one with kidney disease, so for me I'm always thinking about how healthcare needs to be both now and in the future, to continue to enrich the lives of our older generation.
