Providing residential and dementia care, the home has launched its beautiful eight-bed Mulberry Suite offering respite care breaks, which can be pre-booked up to six months ahead. This unique service means that family carers can have some ‘me time’, whilst their loved one is being cared for in wonderful surroundings. The suite has beautifully decorated bedrooms with ensuite wet rooms, a communal lounge and dining area, kitchenette and a quiet study area.

And person-centred day care sessions are also provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays (9.30am to 4.30pm). These sessions include fabulous activities, a delicious lunch and afternoon tea and refreshments.

The gardens at Breme are a beautiful space for the residents to grow their own fruit and veg, which they pick for the chef to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

There are visits from local nursery children and volunteers, a local vicar who holds religious services, animal visits, pamper sessions, weekly community coffee mornings, live music, baking, fitness classes and so much more! There is also a minibus, for regular day trips. The home also has fantastic links with Bromsgrove Library, keeping the residents regularly supplied with reading materials!

The beautiful gardens are perfect for summer picnics, parties and relaxing with family and friends, who are welcome to visit at any time. The home also has its own private Facebook group, so loved ones can stay connected and see what the residents are enjoying, even if they can’t be there that day.

Breme has beautiful bedrooms, with ensuite wet rooms, several of which have patio access to the gardens. There is also a salon, for weekly appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

There are lovely lounge areas and dining rooms, where residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked food and home-baked treats for afternoon tea. The residents also enjoy regular cheese and wine nights.

My Mum came into Breme shortly before Lockdown. She had lived alone before then but, due to numerous falls was unable to cope on her own. It took a lot of persuading to get her to visit Breme but once she did she happily agreed to a 2 weeks respite period and then to permanent residency. It was a
rocky start (she's very stubborn)! The staff are wonderful. They go above and beyond the call of duty. Mum loves them all. It also gives me peace of mind as I live so far away and can't get down too often.

My Gran arrived in March 2020 in difficult circumstances after the passing of my Grandad. As a suffer from Alzheimer's, I was so worried about the adverse effect of all the upheaval. However, I needn't have been, she's settled in brilliantly, made friends and put on weight. I can't thank the staff enough.

Wonderful services from the start. It took a while for my grandmother to settle in but with wonderful caring staff, she soon became part of the care family. Family members greeted by name and they all know who you are visiting. During COVID-19, we have been informed and felt at ease knowing our grandmother
was in safe secure hands. Keep up the good work.

We are so pleased that we chose Breme Residential Care Home for our mother. The staff genuinely care for the residents and go out of their way to ensure that they are safe, well and entertained. The communication with families is excellent, and during the coronavirus lockdown, this has been particularly
welcome. It is very reassuring to know that our mother is so well looked after.

Initially, Mum came to Breme for respite care late December 2019 as Dad was ill, and needed hospital treatment. Unfortunately, Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and chose not to have any treatment. He asked to go to Breme and stay with Mum for as long as he had left. We took him into Breme on
Christmas Day 2019 where he stayed with Mum until he passed on 25th June 2020. The staff and management at this care home are fantastic! They have made the best of a very difficult time for everyone and cared for Dad right to the end, which was very comforting for me not being able to regularly visit due to the coronavirus lockdown. I was kept informed at all times. Under very careful guidelines I was able to visit Dad near the end thanks to considered invitations from the manager. Mum is thriving due to the care and activity she receives from these fabulous staff...long may it continue. Thank you Breme!

Mum has been in Breme for more than three years and has been very happy here. The premises are bright and warm with a nice garden outside. The dining room is nicely set up for meals and adjoins the lounge area. The staff are polite, pleasant and cheerful. They chat with the residents and have little
jokes with them to create a nice atmosphere. The stimulating, daily activities seem to be taken up by most of the residents and are well-received. Staff inform close relatives of any problems that crop up. I think the staff are doing a very good job and appreciate their kindness and dedication.

Unsung Champions, it’s not often I put pen to paper and less often I praise anyone for doing well. My mother-in-law lived with my wife and myself for 22-years. Unfortunately, she needed more care than we were able to give her. Then Breme Care Home came with a heart of gold. Given the pandemic has brought
a number of care homes to their knees, Bremes fast action to lockdown was decisive and has had the desired effect. Well done Breme. The sheer professionalism, the absolute dedication coupled with the total care and attention, the staff at Breme have been outstanding. Not just to the residents in their charge, but to people like my wife who’s missing the contact and not visiting has made her very anxious. Staff have used Facetime and Whatsapp, which brightens up my mother-in-law's days and certainly makes our days. This is my mother-in-law's 3rd year at Breme and she feels like she is part of a very large family. You are God's gift. Thank you.

My lovely Dad has moved into Breme Care Home. At first, he didn't like it, he thought I was leaving him for good, but the carers were so good to him and calmed him down. He has now settled in very well and is being well looked after and most importantly he is safe. The staff and manager are extremely
pleasant, helpful, and professional, at least I can sleep at nights now knowing that my Dad is being taken care of. The clients and staff always seem to be doing some activity or other which keeps all the clients busy and happy.
All the staff, managers, chefs, cleaners, handyman, etc deserve a big clap for attending to our loved ones during this terrible time with COVID, but they have all been so wonderful.
Words aren't enough for all these heroes and their families.
Thank you.

Consistency is a problem. The home is often excellent but standards drop when experienced staff are absent. Consistency of staff is an issue and the residents do not have one person who specialises in them. Activities and stimulus have reduced significantly in the 2+years I have visited. Facilities
e.g. Gardens, are advertised but residents rarely use them, despite research indicating benefits to dementia sufferers. Often difficult to get individual care for residents when in rooms. Cleaning and laundry facilities are variable and deteriorates during each summer holiday season.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Breme Residential Care HomeThank you for taking the time to review our home and I am very sorry to hear that you feel this way. After speaking with the home manager Vicky, she was confused as this feedback has never been raised before and her door is always open for all of our residents and their families. She also assured me that in warmer weather, your mother does enjoy the garden frequently. Vicky is always there for you if you wish to discuss this further. Best wishes, Fae.

I had two visits as respite in 2017. My daughter had difficulty looking after me so I returned as a full-time resident. I have had a very happy time, my social worker got me the room. I love all the staff, they are kind and friendly. The food is good. I like the activities and sitting in the garden
in the summer.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.717)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.717) out of 10 for Breme Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.767 for Breme Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (166 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 210 Ratings = 4.767
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Breme Residential Care Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
