This is the first time I have visited Breme Residential Care Home I have been to visit my neighbour's mother. I am very impressed with the staff, the welcome and the care the residents appear to be getting. I cannot comment on facilities etc as I do not have an opinion. The home appears very clean and welcoming.

Dear Sandie, thank you for your kind words - your feedback really is invaluable to us. I will be sure to pass this onto Rebecca and the team at Breme. Best wishes, Fae

Overall Experience
My mum has been a resident at Bream for 15 months now, although this was a very difficult decision to make between my brother and myself she is looked after extremely well and professional.

More so now, she has moved floors, she seems a lot more content and settled. All of the staff are excellent on the lower floor and seem very patient in dealing with dementia residents. The only negative I can think of is her clothes, although labelled, go missing.

Reply from Ruth Brown, Senior Marketing Officer at Breme Residential Care Home

Hi Gaynor thank you for your feedback. It's wonderful to hear your mum is so settled. I will pass on the feedback regarding the clothes to the home manager and laundry team so they can ensure this doesn't happen in future.

My father went into Breme on 9th May 2018 (I was very nervous). After the first month it has changed his life completely, he is happy, settled and looks very well. On visiting he is always clean, well dressed and looks amazing. I feel this is all down to the staff, always a smile on their faces, ready to help and support and nothing is too much trouble. I cannot thank them enough, staff/management are always there to help. Thank you.

Care is very inconsistent. My Mother stays in her room so is often forgotten. For example, she has a weekly hair appointment but sometimes they don't come to fetch her to go. The other day she didn't get any breakfast, she was asked what she wanted but they didn't come back with it and it wasn't until they came round with her tablets that it was realised. She doesn't always get what she has asked for and I have seen food dished up which looks like its leftovers slopped out. She should get a cup and saucer and teapot but that doesn't always happen.

I am very angry at the rise of £50 per week as I don't see why she should pay to subsidise council paying residents. Training, I should think in this care home, is minimal and the matter of kindness needs to be rethought.

Reply from Rebecca Rudge, Home Manager at Breme Residential Care Home

It saddens me to read these comments as when I speak to your mother she does not pass on these concerns. Some residents prefer to spend time in their rooms rather than socialise with their fellow residents and we need to respect their choices - that doesn’t mean they are forgotten and we constantly...

For approximately a decade my mother, now 99, has attended Breme Care Home in Bromsgrove. The staff are aware of her needs, are supportive and reassure her. During the periods of respite, I know my mum will be well looked after and I am able to have a break from the intensive caring responsibilities at the family home in Redditch. This review is submitted with thanks.

This is a good home, however, I feel that floors are often understaffed. I also feel that meals could be more geared to what they would be used to at home which was a cooked meal in the evenings rather than at lunchtime.

Since my mum has been a resident at Breme she has been extremely happy and settled. The staff who care for her treat her with the utmost respect like they would there own mum. Losing her independence had been difficult for my mum but Breme have helped her immensely.

Breme is perfect for my mother, her own space when she wants as she is a private person. The staff all seem to care and have a good attitude to the residents and are friendly. It's recently been refurbished and is clean and modern. It has the feel of a "bed and breakfast" with care rather than an "old people's home" I'm so glad I found this place, it puts my mind at rest that my mother is safe and well cared for.

My family and I are extremely happy with the care and support given to not only our Mom but us too. Bream House is a clean, bright and happy environment. The staff are always cheerful, caring and they treat residents with dignity, they try hard to encourage independence although not always accepted or welcomed. They treat all visitors with respect, welcome input on Moms care, we get constant feedback on her progress, listen to our concerns with empathy and understanding. Activities are ongoing and key calendar dates are celebrated, we have nothing but praise for Bream's staff.
