As soon as my sister and I entered Burcot Grange we felt that it was right for Dad. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. The Grange feels like a comfortable country hotel with its beautiful interior and grounds. The family had reluctantly accepted the fact that Dad, at 98, could no longer live at home and we're so glad we found The Grange. One of the staff was very helpful and made Dad's move smooth and easy. All the staff are wonderful, making it a pleasant place to visit. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad has put on weight due to the delicious food (all made gluten-free for him) and is happy and well cared for. He's encouraged to come out of his room to socialise and take part in activities. It's lovely to follow Burcot's social media page to spot Dad playing indoor games or keeping his brain active with quizzes and scrabble. There's always something interesting going on, often tailored to the interests of the residents. It's given us all great peace of mind to know he's being so well looked after. Thank you.

This gives myself and my brother peace of mind knowing Mum is so well looked after. All the staff are so lovely, friendly and caring to both residents and their families, nothing is too much trouble for them. It truly is an exceptional home. There are a lot of great activities too and mum especially loves the guest singers as she loves music. A massive thank you to you all for everything you do.

Mum has been a resident at Burcot Grange for a month. Generally, we are very happy with Mom's care. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. Mom is settling down and enjoying her time here but still misses home but this is no reflection on the care and commitment of Mom's carers who were very understanding of her needs.

What I Do:We ensure our residents’ needs are met by carrying out ‘Life History’ assessments, enabling us to fully plan each resident’s individual needs; intellectual, self-esteem, creative, social and spiritual to name a few. From these histories, I can organise and facilitate the many varied activities we have on offer here at Burcot and within our local community, with whom we have close links.
My experienceI started my working life as a WPC in the Metropolitan Police Force before changing career and going into Nursing (Learning Disabilities). This led me, in turn, to complementary therapies within the NHS. I was the first full-time complementary therapist in the country, and I was privileged to work within peoples’ homes, inpatients units, day centres, hospices and, latterly, chemotherapy units to reduce stress and anxiety for patients. I am an honorary member of a National Complementary Therapy association on whose committee I served. This involved setting national standards, writing more policies and organising national conferences. I achieved my long service medal of 20 years within the NHS.
About meI enjoy travelling adventures with my family & sport too. My son enjoys & plays American Football, my daughter’s hobby revolves around horses & she show jumps (currently she represents her university) & my stepdaughter is a keen trampolinist! We’ve had a few visits to A&E over the years, as you can imagine with hobbies like these! We all ski or snowboard too, when we get the opportunity. My husband & I enjoy weekly Ballroom and Latin dance lessons, walking, socialising with friends and making the most of our National Trust membership. I try & get to the gym three times a week, to I enjoy Yoga & spin classes & try to get to the gym, although I sometimes swap it for a sit down with a book and a latte!

My experience
I have worked at Burcot for five years, I started part-time and was made to feel welcome straight away by the residents and staff. When the position of Head of Maintenance became available, I had no hesitation in applying for the role. Before working at Burcot Grange, I worked for myself fitting kitchens and bathrooms.
About me
I have two grown-up lads and we enjoy going to watch the football together. We all support Liverpool FC and we go to Anfield whenever we manage to get tickets. I also enjoy listening to live music and I try and go to a gig as often as I can. I play Crown Green bowls a few times a week and I am the Captain of the Thursday Evening side.
