I go and see my friend at least once a week. I'm always met with a cheery hello. Security is tight, cleanliness excellent. On the way through the corridor staff always speak.

Found my friend is sweet clean room. He was clean. Tea came round and I was offered and cup. How nice.

My Dad was at this home for a week or so, after we had heard good reviews. However, in my opinion, it is not good. My father had two falls in their care he was left alone to wander around corridors on his own. The emergency bell that he was supposed to press if he needed a carer was very poor, I witnessed the bell being pushed yet no carer arrived I had to go and get a carer. They seem to talk a good talk yet from what I witnessed, they do not deliver on what they say they will do. I would not recommend this Care Home.

I am really sad to read this review as I don’t feel it’s a fair reflection of the care and support we provide to our residents and indeed the care your dad received during his stay with us. Please do contact me directly so we are able to have a chat about your concerns.

On behalf of my family, I wish to express our unreserved gratitude to the staff and management at Hastings Care Home for the care and love shown to my father in the last months of his life, between October 2018 and March 2018. Hastings is an outstanding home, beautifully located and well designed and presented for the needs of residents in their later life. The resident's rooms and communal areas were at all times fresh and clean. There are not enough words to express the care provided for my father and later my family. Exceptional!

We were so happy that she spent her last period of time here. Staff are absolutely lovely. She also loved the food. Well done chef.

Overall Experience

Daytime/evening staff are excellent; caring, supportive and extremely professional. Night staff have less time for those who are awake/alert during the night. Food is generally good and healthy. On occasion, the menu could be less "exotic" and more suitable to older folk. Spicy food can be unattractive to the elderly and perhaps stews, casseroles, meat and veg would be more favoured by residents. Kitchen staff are excellent and will try to accommodate specific diets. The activities team do an excellent job. With diverse clients, it is hard to appeal to all. Some activities can be a little tedious for those with active minds. My parent particularly enjoys it when performers etc from outside come in and bingo is always popular. The rear garden is pleasant but could be more accessible/safe for those with limited mobility. The front garden seems to have been neglected recently. This is a shame.

In summary, the standard of care offered by Hastings is very good - the facilities could be better - the staff are excellent and are to be congratulated.

My father-in-law has advanced dementia and is frail. He is very well cared for and is finally settled in Hastings. My mother-in-law needs to be occupied at all times and the excellent activities together with management's help with external activities are very valuable and keep her fairly content. My wife and I have peace of mind knowing that they are both being looked after so well.

Very helpful when initially arranging respite care and then following on from that full-time care. The care home itself is always clean and tidy in the communal areas and also residents rooms. There are lots of activities going on and I particularly like the fact that there is always a member of staff interacting with the residents whenever you call in. Great newsletters and weekly timetables so you always know what is going on. I feel happy and confident that my mum is being looked after with dignity.

I think the home is in a nice position, facing the Malvern Hills. The staff are very caring and pleasant, the washing comes back very clean and ironed. If I ever have a problem, I mention it and it gets sorted, be it medical or care.

The staff at Hastings Residential Care Home were there for us all when we hit a crisis point with mum's care at home. Initially providing a respite room but now permanent care for mum. They have helped us through an extremely difficult and emotional time. I now know she is being looked after as well as we would wish.

I first knew Hastings House visiting my old landlady. We made trips to Malven on the bus at first but in later years she became very noisy. If she went to sleep I went and talked to the others.

When she died at 101 after many happy years, they said "we won't see you again" I said "do you want to?" and they said "yes." So I became a volunteer. Talking is one of the things I now need to do. I go home really wishing I was a resident.

When my mother was in a position of not managing in her own home I was upset as I didn't know what would happen to her. I rang Hastings Residential Care Home and it was agreed my mother could have a room there. After a short time, she decided she wanted to make it her permanent home as she really liked the environment. She now looks and feels much better since being there permanently and I am happy for her to be there.

My friends (husband and wife) are residents here, both in their 90th year - they have been married for 57 years. In recent weeks, she has been very ill in hospital, reaching crisis point last weekend.

Understandably he was distraught, unable to easily get to see or communicate with her. The lovely blonde receptionist, instantly understood what was needed and did, in my view, over and above what could be expected of her in taking him to visit his wife (in her own time) for which both he and I are extremely grateful. My friend is slowly recovering and will hopefully be "home" to Hastings again to where she will be cared for by her friends and her "family". Thank you so very much - how he would be got through last weekend without you is difficult to imagine.
