With a long-serving team of devoted staff, many of whom have been at Ravenhurst for over 15 years, it truly feels like a warm, family home.

As well as providing residential and dementia care, they offer respite care breaks, which can be pre-booked in advance. These are perfect for carers who look after loved ones at home, who would like to book a short break themselves, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

Ravenhurst has a fully enclosed, central courtyard garden, bursting with flowers and plants. Many of the bedrooms have direct patio access to the courtyard, which is a real focal point for summer gatherings. There is a raised pond and planters, for residents who enjoy gardening.

The team are what makes this home feel special, and they follow Sanctuary Care’s unique Enriching Lives framework, based on the six senses people need to be fulfilled and happy – a sense of security, belonging, continuity, purpose, achievement and significance.

There are so many activities for residents to enjoy, including regular trips out in the minibus to garden centres, Hereford Cathedral and other local attractions. Residents often visit Sanctuary Care’s Westmead home in Droitwich, as part of a friendship group, and vice versa. The residents love getting together to enjoy games and companionship.

Ravenhurst has its own choir and history group, run by one of the residents. And there are crafts, cocktails, cheese and wine evenings, gardening, games, reminiscence activities, gentle exercise sessions and so much more to enjoy.

The home-cooked food, prepared by a chef who has worked at the home for 20 years, is delicious. From roast dinners with all the trimmings and fish and chip Fridays, to home baking every day for afternoon tea.

As well as the main lounge, there are lots of cosy and welcoming quiet spaces for residents to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit whenever they like.

Staff are caring and friendly at Ravenhurst. They interact well with the residents and ensure that they are kept entertained. Food and hygiene are excellent. My Father loves living at Ravenhurst especially the activities and entertainment that is provided on a weekly basis.

My dad went into Ravenhurst for a short period of respite and ended up staying. He seems very happy there and the staff are all so helpful. It is still difficult as we are under restrictions but they accommodate as much as they can. My dad and myself are looking forward to when these restrictions are
lifted and he can fully enjoy the facilities and I am allowed in. He always comments on how nice the food is and I think he enjoys being made a fuss of. I would happily recommend this care home.

For the first time in many years, I was not able to be with my Mum over the Advent period this year. As Mum had always enjoyed the build-up to Christmas, I was concerned that she would miss out this year. I need not have worried. The staff had already thought about this and organised a month of activities
which included carols, Christmas cards with photos and Christingles. The families of the residents were kept informed as they were mailed a diary showing the daily activities. This made Mum's December, and mine, a much more pleasant time than I had anticipated. I would like to record my thanks to the manager and all the staff who went above and beyond what could have been expected. Thank you.

Mum has been living at the Ravenhurst Care Home now for nearly three years and during that time she has been looked after very well. Staff are helpful and considerate and always approachable. Her room is lovely and she really benefits from the companionship that she enjoys in the comfortable and bright
communal areas. With the support and help that she has received over the last three years, the quality of her life and general health has improved tremendously.

Having taken the decision to move our relative from another care home in the area. I could not be more pleased with the change in my cousin. She is again engaging with us and says herself, that the staff at Ravenhurst are kind and caring. We are well informed about changes with her, and the managing
and reception staff are always available for a chat, and if not, they get back to you! This was the best decision we could have made for our relative. Thank you.

My mum has been living at Ravenhurst for a year now, and although she lives independently in her own home before this, she has never regretted the move. All the staff have been so kind and caring and treated her with great understanding. She especially enjoys the meals and has made friends with many
of the residents. It is so good to know that she is happy, safe and with people who care about her.

My mother is very happy here and being well looked after, the staff is fantastically caring and the food is better than a 5-star hotel.
I should think they are all almost exhausted with the work they have done during the lockdown.
Hoping to see you all soon.

As always the staff have been excellent in looking after the care and safety of the residents during the last few difficult months. It was reassuring to know that my sister was safe and well. I could at least speak to her on the telephone whilst being unable to visit.

Ravenhurst Care Home in Stourport-on-Severn is a truly amazing home, it’s well run with staff that go above and beyond for the people they care for and I will be forever grateful to them for looking after my Mum.
During this Covid-19 outbreak, I knew my Mum was in the best possible hands, they have
kept me informed throughout which gave me peace of mind and they have done everything to keep their residents safe.
A care home is only as good as the people it has working for it and in my eyes, Ravenhurst is outstanding because of them.
Thank You so much.

I have seen a bedroom previously but spent the visit in a lounge but did notice the dining room on the way in.
When I visited, the lounge was full of residents, instead of chairs being place around the edge of the room they were placed in little groups which looked so much better. A Communion Service
was about to begin and all joined in (a wonderful experience). The whole atmosphere was friendly and everyone seemed happy. The minister taking the service said it was always like this and that they had a very good social coordinator, I came away feeling happy and not depressed as I frequently feel when I visit other homes.

Ravenhurst has excellent caring staff. They treat the residents with care and loving touches. They try hard to engage the residents in various activities i.e. Bingo, quizzes, exercise, children's visits and even animal visits.
The food is excellent and all the staff seem very knowledgeable about residents
needs, likes and dislikes.
I hope I never need to go into such an establishment but if I do, one such as Ravenhurst would be what I wish for myself.

My mother came to Ravenhurst three years ago and is very happy as she never stops telling me! From the very start, the manager and all his staff could not be more helpful and friendly. My dad has recently become a resident at Ravenhurst. I am overwhelmed at how kind and caring every member of staff is. Nothing is too much trouble for them whether it to the residents or visitors. It is clear that they are very experienced and knowledgeable about caring for the elderly and people suffering
from dementia. It is because of their care that my dad has settled in so well.

I was very apprehensive about my mom settling down but after viewing her room, meeting the staff and management, seeing the activities that take place and meeting other residents (not all being dementia cases) like mom, it soon became evident that she would settle and become quite a character within
the home.
Thank you all at Ravenswood.

We moved my father to Ravenhurst from another care home and although he was only there for a relatively short time the difference the manager and his team made to his overall wellbeing was immense. They treated him as an individual and he really felt part of a family there and even though he had dementia
he settled in really quickly which is a testament to the level and quality of care he received. Sadly he passed away in hospital after contracting pneumonia while being treated for another condition there and our only regret is that we were not able to get him into Ravenhurst sooner as he was certainly happier and better cared for there than in the previous home he was in. For anyone looking to place a loved one in a care home, I would recommend them without hesitation.

My dad moved in to Ravenhurst in September 2017 and has received excellent care and treatment from the manager and staff, who are all very friendly, helpful and professional.
My dad says the food is lovely and is always well presented. He is able to choose to eat either in his room or the lovely dining
room.
He's also been on a day trip to the safari park which surprised both me and my sisters as he usually doesn't want to go anywhere. He really enjoyed the day and kept talking about it.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.574)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.574) out of 10 for Ravenhurst Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.774 for Ravenhurst Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (82 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.774
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ravenhurst Residential Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
