My mother is very well cared for. She has advanced Alzheimer's and is very confused. Staff are patient with her and very reassuring. The home smells pleasant and is very clean. There are plenty of activities for residents. I have been into a lot of care homes and this home is the only one I liked. The staff are friendly and accommodating, patient and caring. I feel reassured leaving my mother in their care.

Every time I visit my sister at St Stephen's care home, I am very pleased with what I see, she is well looked after. The facilities are adequate and very easy for my sister to use.
I always comment that I would be very happy to use a similar home if I can find one near to my home address.

The staff all deserve a special mention.

Review from Andy B (Husband of Resident) published on 7 October 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife had to go into care as her dementia was getting so bad that I, her husband, could no longer cope. She went into respite care for one week every month for several months at another care home but she then had to go into permanent care and she was offered a place in St Stephens. She and I have never looked back - she is happy in there and she is safe and that safety is a great relief to me. The staff are wonderful and extremely caring and they all love the job they do which goes a very long way in the care home.

The introduction to St Stephens was very good. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The care given to my wife is good and she seems to have settled in well.

They help her with her food and she is putting on weight which she needed. However, her clothes are still not all labelled with her name and her clothes have gone missing at times.

Reply from Dalbir Jangra, Head of Marketing and Communications at St Stephen's

Dear Gary,

Thank you for your kind words. Happy to hear your wife’s health has improved. I will discuss with the manager your recommendation regarding the labelling of clothes. Happy to hear any further areas you can recommend for improvement.

It was very difficult for me to have to put my husband into care. He is so well looked after that myself and my children are pleased that I let him go. My husband likes the staff and the food.

Reply from Dalbir Jangra, Head of Marketing and Communications at St Stephen's

Hi Marion,

Thank you for your kind review. Placing our loved ones into Care is a very difficult decision. At GCH we understand this and always try to be compassionate and offer the same level of care our residents would receive at home from loved ones.

Happy to hear your thoughts on how we can improve our service further.

Review from Susan B (Cousin of Resident) published on 12 December 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My cousin has had to move rooms and now sits looking at a brick wall and sink - not good. The home seems a happy, pleasant atmosphere. Staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful. He's had to take a smaller room now but he seems happy enough. He has a sink in the room but shares a communal toilet, which he's not used to, but puts up with. He likes his privacy, being independent and being able to cook what he wants and drink when he wants to, so he has found this lifestyle hard.
