I am so very happy with my husband's care and needs. You have gone above and beyond to take care of my husband and you are always at the end of a phone. With all the COVID-19 going on I know that when you have time to Facetime me so I can see my husband, you have done so. Thank you to each and every one of you.

My father spent the last 6 months of his life at Barrowhill Hall Residential and Nursing home. He was made to feel very comfortable and involved. Always lots going on for him to join in with or sit and watch. The staff are amazing and their care second to none. I would definitely recommend without any hesitation, cannot fault at all.

My Mum chose Barrowhill Hall over other options because she liked the feeling of the clean, spacious facilities, and beautiful views. This made her feel less closed in, important when losing independence. She also likes the vibe due to the kind, cheery staff. From my perspective, she is happy. That is due to the care and fun provided by the staff in a beautiful well-maintained building (Churnet Lodge). Thank you.

We researched and visited many local nursing homes, and Barrowhill Hall was definitely the most suitable for our aunt. Initially, the low CQC rating (December 2019) put us off, but a visit changed our perception. Relatively expensive. But far better rooms, facilities, staff and management than other care homes.

Mum spent the last six years of her life at Barrowhill Hall. She was treated with love, dignity, respect and professionalism throughout and her changing needs were recognised and met as her condition deteriorated. We could not have looked after her better ourselves.

I recommend BH unreservedly. As a relative, you are warmly welcomed as part of the family and know that your loved one is well cared for.

In my time of visiting my Mother at the home, I can honestly say that I cannot pick any fault with Barrowhill, in every way it's perfect with my Mother's needs, and she is extremely happy at the home. Thank you to everyone who is involved.

My Mum was accessed and admitted to the home after a sudden decline in her condition. She was admitted onto the EMI Nursing Unit with quite bad challenging behaviour. I feel that they have managed her behaviour well and she seems to be less challenging, due to them managing her medication. It was and is a very hard time for us and my Mum, but feel reassured that she is safe and well cared for.

My husband has been a resident at Barrowhill for over four months. He is treated with care, dignity and respect by all members of staff. They are able to manage his personal care effectively even though this can bring its own challenges. The premises are spacious and airy and kept to a high standard.

This is a fantastic place where my mother recently received excellent care. Residents are treated with care, compassion, patience and kindness. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is amazing, rooms and bedding are clean and fresh. The open living spaces are great and the gardens are lovely. Varied and brilliantly thought out activities. This is how all care homes should be. So impressed and extremely grateful. Thank you.

First impression, clean, professionally run, well staffed a lot of one to one care particularly at meal times. Does need access to gardens. Fresh air only available if accompanied by carer or resident's family members. Activities and outings are good, the friendliness of the staff shines out and always very welcoming to visitors.

My mother has been living at Barrowhill Hall for a number of months, the care and compassion I've seen from every member of staff in the home is nothing but outstanding. The management hold regular meetings and let us know how Mum is getting on. I viewed a number of homes before choosing Barrowhill Hall, the home not only looks outstanding but delivers care fit for a queen, fit for my Mum.

Having had my next of kin resident for respite care since 22nd January 2019 I have found Barrowhill Hall nursing home to provide a superb service. Excellent food, all prepared and cooked on the premises. The staff - both nurses/carers and office staff, are all approachable and friendly. The premises are kept really clean. The care given to my resident has been very good and his health has improved significantly since being at Barrowhill Hall and I always find him clean and tidy. Some kind of method of keeping relatives updated on residents' progress would be useful as they are often busy when visiting but otherwise I cannot fault the home or the staff. I have had unsatisfactory experiences of other homes.

The home was excellent and my husband settled very well for his two weeks respite. We were welcomed by extremely caring staff and the atmosphere was always cheerful. The openness of all the areas, where residents were moving around as they wished with help from staff if required, was very encouraging to me as my husband enjoyed moving to different areas, mainly to admire the view. I would not hesitate to use the home again.

We were extremely pleased with the respite care mum received. Mum was very happy there too. The food was excellent. The laundry was all there when I collected mum and was beautifully washed and ironed. We would definitely use this home again.

My mother became a resident in November 2018 and whilst it took a few weeks to settle in, she is now generally very content. The staff are lovely and helped her to settle in. One staff member in particular, is wonderful with mother.

Although the Lodge at the home does sometimes seem short staffed.

My father has been a resident for three years and last year moving into Church Lodge, a dedicated new building for dementia residents.
The home is very well furnished with exceptional en-suite bedrooms (with double beds).
The care staff and management team are a credit to the home. They always keep me informed of any changes in my father and action to be taken.

Overall, very happy.

“It's hard to describe a typical day at Barrowhill for me as every single day is different, you have to react to what is going on. But generally, I attend the morning meeting with all the heads of department, produce daily reports to Head Office and it’s my job to do the induction training for new staff.

“My favourite part of Barrowhill has to be the views. They really are spectacular, especially the walk down to Churnet Lodge from the main building. The view simply takes your breath away, it has to be seen to be believed!

“I hope that when families visit their loved ones they leave Barrowhill knowing that their relatives are being well cared for and they are happy and safe.

“I’ve worked here for just over 6 months now. Before that, I worked at Aggregate industries for more than 38 years.

After I took redundancy I realised I needed a change and I felt it would be nice to work in a different field and the people here make it a much more interesting place to work.

“Outside of work I love Football, I love going to watch Derby County FC and I'm the secretary of Mayfield FC!

“I’m from Mayfield where I still live with my husband. We’re lucky as all of our close family live nearby. Perhaps it’s because I come from Derbyshire and not Staffordshire that I don't like oatcakes!”
