Bearwood House is a friendly home that is the perfect place for your loved one if they require dementia care or have any other age related impairment.

Bearwood House employs an experienced team who take pride in a service that respects each resident's individual needs.

A homely environment has benefitted from skilled refurbishment, while a varied calendar incorporates many different activities that residents can enjoy.

The security of residents is a priority at all times, holistic therapy is one beneficial addition to the care service and there is also a strong focus on supporting good nutrition, with a menu sourced from fresh local produce.

Bearwood House is a residential and dementia friendly care home.

They support adults aged 18-65 who have Autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Bearwood House works with Multi Disciplinary Teams, designed according to individual needs and wishes.

Bearwood House provides specialist training for staff, including Person Centred Thinking, behaviour management, speech, signs and symbols and sensory awareness, to provide the best possible support for all individuals.

They work with other community health services including GPs, psychiatrists, the community learning disability team, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, to provide holistic support for everyone.

All individuals are encouraged to be involved in their Person Centred Plans and risk assessments. "Your Voice" is important which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive.

My mother has been a resident at Bearwood House for almost four years. Her care has always been good, this was very reassuring during lockdown as I was not anxious about her needs not being met.
The new manager has worked so hard to make lots of beneficial changes, the activities are excellent and
inclusive of individual need.
Before being allowed to visit again we were able to have video calls and use the visiting pod.
More recently Mum has been quite poorly, staff have responded immediately to ensure she received medical attention, kept me informed and looked after her so well, adapting her care needs each time. When visiting I see how respectful, kind and caring each staff member is towards her.
I would certainly recommend Bearwood House to anyone who is considering that their loved one may need additional care.

Very accomodating through difficult circumstances. My brother needed to go into a home from hospital during last years Covid lockdown. Everyone always there for my brother and me.

All seems well behind the scenes as, since 2020 March, I've not entered the building. Visually Mum looks happy and well cared for. The new team seem to have been busy re-organising and decorating the home, which is good. The activities coordinator is very friendly and has introduced lots of wonderful
new activities along with the manager. It's hard to judge, but I feel comfortable and reassured that my mum is in a caring environment and is content.

My father was previously living alone in sheltered accommodation. Despite myself and other family members supporting him, his health deteriorated over the years and coupled with dementia, we took the decision to move him into a care home. We were recommended Bearwood House by a friend who's mother had
moved there. Since moving in, my father's health improved significantly and I can't thank them enough. My father has been at Bearwood for a couple years now and due to old age related health issues, has started to deteriorate once again, however the staff and management have been very supportive and I can't fault them as they have kept me informed all the way, but will perhaps need to think about moving my father into a nursing home. This is a shame, as moving into Bearwood House was the best thing for my father at the time and I am glad we managed to get him in when we did. It will be a shame for him to leave.

The management and staff at Bearwood House are brilliant. My father-in-law has only been there a few weeks but really settled into life there from day one. The very friendly atmosphere and dedicated staff make it a lovely place for family members to visit. What with the home-cooked meals that he raves
about, and plenty of activities to keep him occupied, what more could anyone wish for. After struggling at home alone, he now feels very safe and secure under the caring approach of the staff who constantly go above and beyond what you would expect. Thank you.

My mum-in-law loved ins sheltered accommodation until she moved into Bearwood House practically a recluse. At first she wouldn't come out of her room but after a time of being encouraged to join in she now takes part in singing, exercise and many more things, thanks to the dedicated staff and the entertainment
lady and she has made many friends.

We had to put Mum into respite care a year ago and were very impressed. When my Dad died a few months later we realised she was so much better at Bearwood than she would have been at home. The staff are wonderful.

My mother in law told me how happy she is in the home and how well taken care of she is.
The meals are 'just like my mother used to make' and I don't think she could give higher praise.
The staff are kind and patient and I think they do a marvellous job.

The care my mother has received at Bearwood House has appeared, to my Father and myself, to be faultless and the staff have individually and collectively been excellent in their dealing with her. My father, who is 92 himself is always welcomed by the staff members on duty and made to feel part of the
Bearwood House “family”


The only minor issue I would have is to do with the lack of feedback on the various hospital visits our mother makes, if we enquire with a member of staff usually nobody has the information due to shift changes.

When we visited, the care home was clean and tidy.
There are many activities organised for the residents, including crafts, cooking, music and people visiting to entertain the residents.
The residents all appear happy and well cared for.

Mum is very comfortable in the above care home, her room is very light and airy and the decor very nice. The staff are very caring, friendly and patient and most of the other residents are friendly too.
There is an activity going most weekdays for anyone who wishes to take part and the atmosphere
is comfortable and friendly.
I would definitely recommend this care home.
